We replaced our 1.6 cubic foot whirlpool microwave with this 2.2 cubic foot model. It fits perfectly in the built in space and the additional trim kit makes it look like an actual built in version costing hundreds more. It has excellent controls, easy cleaning and quick, even heating.

This is a direct replacement for the old model number WMC50522AS. I received and installed this new one today, 10/31/19. This new model number ends in WZ. The black chrome is a little different, being a little more satin, but it's fine. Also the LCD display is white not blue like the old AS model, so it doesn't match my Whirlpool gold oven, but that's not big deal for me. We'll see what my wife says when she gets home, but I think she'll be happy. The LCD was failing on the old AS model, losing portions of all digits, hence the reason for replacement. The new one fit directly into my existing trim kit MK2220AS and took me less than 30 minutes to swap the old one out for the new one. The reliability of these microwaves is questionable because the LCD on the old one started failing after 2 years (the unit did still function, but its aggravating not to be able to read the LCD). The old AS model was actually a replacement for the 1.6 CF model of this microwave installed by the builder, which was 3 years old and worked OK but was way too small. I purchased the trim kit for the 2.2 CF model when I replaced it so I was familiar with how to install the new unit. Hopefully this new unit lasts for many years. I give Best Buy and this new Whirlpool microwave and initial thumbs up.

In their user's guide it clearly states "Tones are audible signals that cannot be turned off." What it should say is that our idiot programmers allow tones to be silenced like our other microwaves, but the morons didn't program a way to get them back! 1 year and 3 weeks from putting this item into service in our new house, I now have a permanently silent microwave. Whirlpool's response ... Sorry, I know you bought almost $10K in new appliances from us but there's nothing in our customer help information to help you, you'll just have to buy a new one because it would cost more to fix it than just throw it away and get a new one.

Love it! From having 1.1 cu ft to 2.2 cu ft is great. Much bigger but don’t know why I would need it to be larger. But glad I did just in case. Looks great!

This microwave and trim kit has worked out really well. This was a replacement for the previous oem kit and i was concerned about fit. The best buy installers did a great job leveling the trim and fitting the new microwave in it. The microwave runs great. No issues so far

Bought it to replace old one in built in cabinet. Looks great with trim kit and easy installation but it takes two. Goes great with my builtin Whirlpool oven . Very satisfied

We have it for 14 months and LCD display is not working properly anymore. On 00:00 screen, 3 of the little lines are out already. We don't use it often. Very poor quality, I thought Whirlpool is good make. But I see they are as Fridgaire or any other bottom company.

I have had this unit for about 30 days and several days ago we noticed the the touch panel around the Start and Cancel buttons is starting to bubble up. This same condition is also showing at a lesser extent on other often used portions of the touch panel. I purchased the 4 year service contract so I will be contacting the Geek Squad to request a replacement unit. I selected the Whirlpool brand as I have not had any issues with a 20+ year old chest freezer or my 2 year old washer. Very dissatisfied.

This was a replacement item for my home one that broke.

There was already one of these in a new home construction we bought. It lasted right at a year - but no warranty. Replaced it with the exact unit because of the stainless surround that was already there. Replacing the surround would have doubled the price so we went with the same unit thinking it was a fluke. The new unit lasted less than 18 months. Don’t waste your money on this microwave. Two have gone bad on my in 2 years and they aren’t exactly cheap.

Had to return it. It’s door sensor was faulty- so it wouldn’t turn on

looks beautiful and cooked fast -- but would spark without notice inside. That silver plate turned black. No one cares, and I am out $400 bucks. sad

I like the sleek look since the device is built into the wall in the kitchen. The device does a good job reheating and cooking certain foods like veggies. It has a nice beverage option for warming liquids as well.

This was a replacement purchase. Was extremely happy to get a replacement for my microwave. It was the upgrade model of the one that was in my house when i purchased it.
