    Great Fridge.

This refrigerator is wonderful. Especially the fridge section. It's roomy and has lots of adjustable shelves that are very strong and sturdy. The water and ice maker are also great. The only complaint I would have is that the freezer space is a bit small. It's a trade off though. If you know you need a bigger fridge section and you want lots of features and strong shelve surfaces and can do without an abundance of freezer space, then you are making a great purchase. The only other thing I need to say is that I've never had a refrigerator that had better seals. When I shut the doors, it's like a bank vault closed. What does this mean. Whirlpool didn't skimp on the quality. It's a very solid, well built refrigerator.

I would review this refrigerator at 4.5 only because the shelving is not adjustable. It has a louder humming that my old one. Im adjusting to that. It's not overwhelming It is very attractive! I would purchase again. Great price.

    This Refrigerator Fulfils a Need

I generally like the new refrigerator. I especially like the ice maker and the size of the ice. Unfortunately the door for the water filter at the very bottom of the fridge won't open and am waiting for a Whirlpool service rep to come and repair it. I don't think a new appliance should have to be repaired at all. Another thing I don't like is that the shelves in the refrigerator are not adjustable. That's a biggie for me. I cannot rave about this appliance but it fills a need and was within my price range.

We got lucky as the refrigerator we ordered didn’t fit in the space, and we needed one that day. They had this refrigerator in stock and came back to deliver it the same day. It works because we have a chest freezer, but if not, the freezer space is much to small for a family of four. Overall I like the space and setup of the refrigerator section, and it works for the space we are in. Pretty good with smudge proof. I’ve only had to spot clean twice in the past month, but I do have three boys in the house. Would purchase again.

Why Not Send Me a New Ice Bin?

Overall the refrigerator is excellent. However, the ice bin is defective. Following the instructions on how to remove the ice bin which is "lift up the front of the storage bin and pull it out," but it would not come out. I tried multiple times. After playing around with it, I managed to get the ice bin out of the freezer. I had to lift the front with one hand and use the other hand to push up the rear of the ice bin and wiggled the bin up and down and from side to side to remove the empty ice bin. I tried to remove the ice bin when it was full of ice by using my method. I could not remove it. I called Whirlpool customer service. The agent told me a service agent would have to come to my home and assess the problem. If it was not considered a warranty issue, then I would be charged over a hundred dollars for the service call. I told the agent that the ice bin appeared to have additional plastic on the left side where it slides on the left mount in the freezer. The right side of the bin did not have this additional plastic. Again, the refrigerator is excellent. However, Whirlpool could make it easy on itself and me by sending a new ice bin. The technician is scheduled to come on May 18th. I wait to see how this is handled.

    Replacement Refrigerator

Terrible!!! Second time ordering this refrigerator because 1st one came damaged and missing the can caddy that is advertised with it. Besides not being able to hook up the new water line because the shutoff valve wasn’t behind the refrigerator. To make it right with me I was told I would get the new refrigerator, they would install the new water line and I would get the can caddy that was supposed to come with it! The guys that delivered it were very professional and nice, however they said they knew nothing about putting the new water line/shutoff valve in behind the refrigerator and this refrigerator didn’t have the can caddy like promised either!! Plus, I’ve been noticing the refrigerator randomly leaks where the water/ice comes out!!

This is a replacement for the same model / size that was 15 years old, Hopefully I'll get the same good service from the new one. The freezer shelves are better allocated but the refrigerator shelves are not as user friendly as I can not get a whole water melon in without removing 1 shelf. The price was just a few dollars more than what I paid for my old one 15 years ago.

I love my new refrigerator! The refrigerator side is perfect! I kove all of the space and the glass shelves. It is roomy and there is plenty of for my food.I can now see everything and keep it organized. We love the ice maker and the fact that we can have cubed or crushed ice. Since we can now get filtered water from the fridge, I don't have to buy bottled water anymore which will save me money! My only negative is how small the freezer size is. I wish it was bigger. It works in my kitchen space and looks great!

I had a previous version of this refrigerator. It worked well after a few hiccups. The house I moved to had a GE fridge which was driving me crazy with the amount of noise it was making and I bought this one. They have improved the ice maker dispenser (used to shoot ice all over the floor). They both had great lighting and once they settle in, keep their temperature solidly. Door space is good. I would say the only negative is the lack of adjustable shelves. Max height is 10" and I have several containers which are slightly over 10". I had to remove one of the shelves so they could fit but also lost storage space.

I like the in-door dispenser that dispenses both water and ice; they have separate spouts and when dispensing ice, there is enough room on the tray to actually set a cup on to catch the ice (the spout/chute that the ice comes out of is at the back of the dispenser area). (On the only other stainless refrigerator this size that I found, the dispenser inset is too shallow to set a cup on.) The top shelf should be 1/2" to as much as 1" lower to fit a milk jug or wine bottle with a bit of space above it. The 30" size fits nicely in a small kitchen. The handles are attractive and sturdy. The freezer is a bit narrow but it has a decent amount of space for the size. Shelves are pretty easy to clean.

    Throes of the Icemaker

If you, like me, are (or were) looking to fit a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer with an ice dispenser into a small space, I would strongly encourage you to keep looking, rather than purchase this product. If you hook up this refrigerator without a water line, you will actually have an OK time with it. Just don't expect to fit any frozen pizzas flat in the freezer; they won't fit. The capacity for both the refrigerator and the freezer is small, and you probably know that already if you're looking at this. It does maintain temperature very well, though, which is a point to be commended. The problems with this product are entirely related to the ice making and ice dispensing, so if that's not relevant to you, by all means disregard it. The ice maker has known manufacturing flaws which have not been addressed by updating the design, instead requiring a call to a service tech. When the ice maker draws in water, some of it trickles backwards toward the evaporator fan and it begins to build an ice dam which will eventually need to be removed, as it causes the evaporator fan to run against it, damaging it and making loud noises. A tech will likely just caulk around it for you to make it less likely for water to trickle back towards the fan. The actual ice dispenser is barely functional or dependable. Every time I use it to dispense whole ice cubes, they get stuck in the chute and I have to manually push the flap to unclog the chute. This problem is further exacerbated by the fact that the ice crusher partially runs even while it's disabled, causing it to spit out partially crushed chunks along with your whole ice, and unless you're using something very wide to catch the ice, it will end up all over the floor. When I had the tech out to look at the evaporator fan, I brought up this issue as well, and I was advised that it's just a fault of the design; they all do it and even his similar refrigerator does the same. This is an expensive product and I would honestly expect more out of it for the price, but I cannot in good conscience recommend it. Find something else that fits your space.
