    Our water filter and ice maker quit working and no one will come out to our area to repair it. I want to return it if this is the customer service I get!

    Design flaws

    My 4yr old LG refrigerator broke and after doing much research, I learned that there's actually a class-action lawsuit against LG for faulty compressors (the reason why mine stopped working). There's also a class-action lawsuit against Samsung. Ironically, LG and Samsung are the most aesthetic (in my opinion) and have the most "bells and whistles" amongst refrigerators within the $1000-$2500 price range. Therefore, I was adamant about not buying an LG or Samsung and chose durability over aesthetics. I was told by many that Whirlpool, Maytag and GE are the most reliable. Anyways, I've had my Whirlpool for a couple of days now and here are my initial observations; 1) The icemaker's design in the unit really compromises shelf space. True, I knew that prior to making the purchase and when I was looking at it at BB, but I guess you don't realize it until you start to put your items in there. Specifically, the left side door's top shelf is almost useless. If you zoom into the picture, all you can pretty much put in that top shelf is a small shredded cheese bag or a snack -sized potato chip bag. The circular end of that same shelf can hold a soda can at most. 2) Although I never choose the "crushed ice" option on the touch screen = if i don't dispense ice for a couple of hours, for the first 2-3 seconds the ice that comes out is crushed/broken and makes a little mess. After the initial 2-3 seconds, the properly cubed iced is dispensed. I think its because the ice that has made its way to the front of the icemaker has probably hardened(?) and the initial dispenser motion needs to break it up? 3) The doors (all four of them) require you to personally "push" them close. You cant let gravity/momentum assist the closure. There are two adjustable "foot pegs" on the bottom front of the unit that allows you to customize the "lean angle" and I have them at MAXIMUM lean (the front of the unit is higher than the rear). I guess I was spoiled by my old LG, where all I needed to do was give a SLIGHT push (if at all) and the doors and would close slowly on its own. IDK, maybe the rail system on the Whirlpool needs to be lubricated, lol. 4) On my LG, there would be a "door ajar" alarm after 30 seconds. The door ajar alarm is five minutes on this Whirlpool! I don't know about you, but I walk away from my fridge/kitchen in less than five minutes after getting my drink/food, lol. 5) The "access area" of the ice dispenser and water dispenser is kinda short. Like most people, every member of my family owns and uses those tall "Hydro-flasks" on a daily basis and those flasks are too tall to fit under the dispensers. If you tip/angle the flasks, please make sure the flask opening is as HIGH and CLOSE as possible to the water hose because you will end up missing if you keep the flask low. 6) The display does NOT show the current temperatures of the top or bottom sections (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). It allows you to adjust/manipulate the temps but it doesn't show what the current temps are. That is a major oversight on their part. I just ordered $25 bluetooth thermometers from Amazon to monitor the temperatures. Don't get the wrong idea, I am not gonna go back to buying an LG, lol. The features of the LG does not outweigh the fact that their durability is questionable enough to be a part of a lawsuit. I am giving it 3 stars based on reputation and peace of mind. I'm considering exchanging this for a different design. If not, I'm hoping my choice of durability over aesthetics and function was the right one, lol.

    Great Refrigerator at a Great Price!

    This refrigerator has all of the space we were looking for, and we love the extra exterior drawer! The freezer is well-organized with a basket that slides for you to maximize your freezer space. The ice maker stores a LOT of ice, which is great for us.

    Elegant refrigerator worth the investment

    I LOVE this refrigerator and hated to leave it when we sold our house last year, so I bought a new one for the new place! On-line photos don't do it justice. It's gorgeous! Sleek, minimalist and elegant, it's super-spacious with 2 crispers and a great compartmented drawer for even more fresh fruit/veggies that can also serve as beverage drawer. Super-easy to clean though I strongly recommend using the stainless steel wipes followed with paper towel for drying as the usual sponge/dishcloth leaves streaks. Overall, it's very quiet unless you're using the ice/water dispenser. The only "con" is that we went through the filters rather quickly, so stock up if you're keen on using the water/ice dispenser with any frequency. That said, it's a great fridge. I'm holding onto this one - will even take it with me if we move again anytime soon.
