Avoid at all costs! Yes, I did my research, on multiple sites...this is a top selling fridge, with good reviews. But I had the first one of these fridges in my home for two weeks before Costco thankfully switched it out. Now, I’ve had the second one for a week and I can’t wait to get it out of here. Yes, it is loud, much louder than my 11 year old fridge. But I can handle a loud fridge. What we (the whole family) cannot handle is the screeching, nails on chalkboard, grinding, chirping noise that isn’t constant... but when it starts up we can hear it from the second story and the back yard!! This is the most annoying noise. It makes the great features of this fridge completely void. Please get this migraine triggering device out of our home!

This is a review in reference to ownership of this refrigerator for the past two years. We ordered the black stainless steel model. After two years, the top shelf is useless because it freezes everything. The LED lights in both the fridge portion and the freezer portion both burnt out and just flicker now. You can not just replace these bulbs. You have to call for service which equals a small fortune. Customer service was no help. Very disappointed in the durability and longevity of this refrigerator. Cannot recommend at all.

I really like the brand Whirlpool. It's very good to use

LED light failed on top. Whirlpool said they would pay for the repair even with the unit being five years old. They have only one authorized provider near me, Platinum Factory Service. Whirlpool says they sent them a work order to cover the expense but Platinum refused to honor it, demanding full payment up front before they would schedule it. This has been over three months and it is still not fixed. I don’t recommend Whirlpool appliances.

Ok first of all the ice maker takes up WAY too much space. Second, it drops ice inside the fridge. The shelf layout is ridiculous. The drawer barely fit a bell pepper laying on its side. The best thing is the display, how quiet it is and drawer between the fridge and freezer. Whirlpool the next time you design the layout for your next fridge call me. I will be happy to tell you how to do it better. Returned this to get the GE French door. Waiting on the delivery. Watch out for LG fridges too. Their compressors crap out after 3 years and Best Buy was not able to fix mine. Not to mentioned it came with a nice dent. Not the fridges problem. Just another thing to add to my extraordinary level of frustration.

I’m shocked that there are so many things wrong with an item that I paid over $3000 for 3 years ago. First, the ice maker went out; then the circuit board; then the compressor. I had to rent a refrigerator while they troubleshot this thing. It’s pretty but as Forest Gump said “Handsome is as handsome does”. I have a whole house warranty but it really hasn’t helped much. Never again will I buy Whirlpool!

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR The Whirlpool and KitchenAid french door refrigerators have a known problem that causes the compressor and coils to freeze over. You will have a repairman out every four months to defrost the cooling system with a heat gun, which does not solve the problem. The issue is that the sensor is too close to the cold air vent so it cannot tell when the compressor snd coils are freezing over until it is too late. And unlike nearly every other refrigerator on the planet, it does not have a heating element to remove the ice once it detects that it has frozen. It just turns off the cooling system—but not long enough for the ice to actually melt. And then it starts the cycle over. So your food just rotates between between freezing and spoiling until someone manually defrosts it. And worst, Whirlpool refuses to fix the problem. They just send someone out to defrost your system until your warranty expires and then walk away. There is even a class action lawsuit about this issue. So buy anything else.

Great frig for the price point. Whirlpool makes exceptional quality products (i.e., think Amana).

Love the look and space in this refrigerator! Now the bad news... First one delivered had a river of condensation collecting in the freezer seal so I returned it for another. Second one delivered has ice built on the freezer switch so the light does not come on and switch is frozen. I cleared the ice and adjusted the freezer temperature and problem persists. Third refrigerator is being delivered this weekend. Wish me luck. FYI I don't appreciate having to clear my refrigerator and freezer and waiting (4 four delivery window) for the delivery of a new one FOR THE THIRD TIME. I purchased a Whirlpool because I thought I was buying a quality brand/product. I'm not so sure anymore.

I had high hopes for this refrigerator from whirlpool. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after receiving it, one of the side by side doors would not close properly, leading to poor temperature control, freezing of produce and spoilage. Whirlpool does NOT send their own technician, they subcontract appliance maintenance companies. A new door was ordered by the technician on 01/20/2021, we are now 07/06/2021, still no door. I’ve called whirlpool customer service, they offered to send me a 50$ gift card for the lost produce, (which they never sent) this is useless to me, I need a working fridge . In addition, the ice maker is bulky and occupies a big space inside the fridge, making it about 20% too small for a family of 4.

Purchased this unit on October 2021. Bought a Best Buy 2 year extended warranty. The freezer and ice machine stopped working October 2024 then after a few days the refrigerator died. Best Buy charged me to diagnose the problem which was said to be a bad compressor. Then the tech told me that Geek Squad could not repair or order parts. I was told to contact Whirlpool. The Whirlpool authorized repair shop is going to charge me another fee for diagnosis. If the compressor is the problem it is covered for labor and parts up to 5 years. A $2K appliance should last more than three years.

We've had this fridge for about 4 years now. Several issues. One, the open door alert is barely audible or doesn't sound at all. Our old fridge was much better this way. It's like this fridge wants to keep it secret that your door is open. This will also be the 2nd repair call we have to make for torn rubber seals, in the same spot on the same door. Clearly a design issue, never had this with past fridges. And now the fridge is randomly freezing our food, even though I've upped the temp by 1-2 degrees to address. So who knows if its a faulty temp sensor or what. But means another repair call... The materials, shelved, drawers, etc also feel/sound cheap. Not impressed, cannot recommend.

Great product. I wish I had one of these years ago. Just love the center drawer. So very handy.

I was looking for a French door refrigerator in black stainless steel which does not cost a fortune. This one meets all the criteria.

Water and Ice dispenser does not work. Waiting for part to come in to have fixed

My wife and I just finished a major remodel on practically our entire house updating everything from the bathtub(s) to the kitchen sink, including all new appliances. Just under a year after completing the whole project the only regret I have is purchasing this refrigerator. If you’ve never experienced buyers’ remorse and want to know what it feels like then I would definitely purchase this machine!!! The biggest issue with this contraption is the ice maker. If you look inside the gigantic ice machine that takes up so much room in the top left side of the refrigerator you notice the ice tray looks deep but it only fills up that chamber that looks the size of a softball bat. Even when the machine is fully it barely gets us enough ice to last through a Saturday morning. Living in the desert and having active kids I had to buy a counter top ice maker just to offset the limited ice this machine holds. It took whirlpool tech’s five visits to tell us there was nothing they could do to fix it because it was being caused by our low PSI RO system. Which is funny because the twelve-year-old refrigerator I had before this one was full all the time and we would have enough ice to fill up a cooler if we went somewhere. As much room at that thing takes up you would think it could support the three people that even use ice in my family. Good luck if you like cold drinks!!! Second biggest issue with this poorly engineered appliance is the freezer space. Not only is there limited space if you try to fill it up the door jam light stays on. If you trouble shoot and level it you can get it to go off but then when the freezer gets less full the door will close themselves. So even when it’s perfectly level you have to make sure everything stay’s balanced or it will give you issues on and off. On top of our remodel we bought two new AC units and a new roof. With the markets being down we’re a little tight on funds but as soon as we get back ahead I will be replacing this hunk of junk. I doubt I’ll get the $2600 dollars I blew on this thing back selling it online but hopefully I’ll get something to offset the loss. I’ll let the purchaser know this refrigerator belongs as a backup in the garage if you have the space for it!!!

The fridge works great ive had it for 3 years now.
