It is very quiet, however it doesn't seem to pull steam into it at all, even on the high setting. I'm not sure how effective it is, thus the three stars.

It also pulls smoke and smells out quickly and efficiently. No more setting off the smoke alarm. The black unit looks great with my new black range.

Very Quiet Hood

It barely does anything while it's turned on. It's VERY quiet, but I'd rather have something that does the job regardless of the sound. Overall, it looks and sounds nice, but this item is mostly for show and not daily use.

Surpise choice

I mainly bought it for the reason to match my other appliances and also for the under light feature. I don't use it for recycling cooking fumes but the fan sound is extremely quiet and light flowing and you won't even know its on.
