My most recent washing machine was from an apartment complex that looked like you’d get tetanus every time you walked past and was older than dirt, but I never had problems washing a thing in it. I was so excited to buy my own set though and I can’t tell you how much I’ve regretted the purchase and will never buy another whirlpool appliance again (I bought a whirlpool fridge as well back in July the same time I bought these and it was broken on delivery- a new one isn’t in stock until November 1). The first time I used this I had barely visible mud on the back of my jeans where my shoe had just gotten the back of one while I was taking off a sneaker. I threw them into the washer, normal cycle, with a normal size load and they came out with the dirt wet, but unbothered. I should’ve requested sent this back after that, but passed it off as a one-off. Ever since then the load balancing has been a total nightmare. It’s to the point where if we don’t have issues with a load of laundry I feel an absurd amount of relief and DREAD doing the laundry. I’m sitting on the floor writing this, in tears, at 1 AM babysitting the washing machine after trying for two hours to balance it. We have a sick kid so currently two beds are totally stripped of their sheets and no matter how I arrange the sopping wet sheets from just the twin bed (first casualty), the washing machine is so off balance that it started slamming into the wall next to it and lifting itself inches off the floor. It woke up everyone upstairs and my kids were terrified thinking someone had broken into our home it was that loud and jarring. I’ve never seen anything like it. Then after shutting it off and canceling the cycle (screen was dark) I opened the lid and water started rushing from the faucet that goes directly into the drum and the screen was still black so I couldn’t even shut it off. Because the machine will try to “load balance” by adding more water, it just gets increasingly more absurd and difficult to move heavy sheets and towels. We moved into a new build and every appliance is whirlpool. I called whirlpool to register each appliance and the rep was like I strongly recommend you buy warranties on every appliance - $17 monthly for each one. Honestly, this feels like a huge scam to sell terrible products. If this is totally unlike other reviews, I will have to assume the other culprit is Best Buy because the fridge and this set both came from Best Buy.

Works well for 13 months then they charge you $600 to fix it. All the repair shops hate the new whirlpools.

We've spent a small fortune at the laundromat for all the time this washer was down. It's broken 8 times in the 24 months since we bought it. Out of that it's been inoperable 4 months while we waited for service to diagnose and then waited for parts. We've always had good results with Whirlpool for decades. Something's wrong in manufacturing. First it was bolts coming off because they didn't put locktight on. Then it was electronics failures, which have been out multiple times. Bad sign: these parts get a popular rating on BBs website.
