Installed into a Whirpool upright freezer

Install was relatively easy. The instructions were for various installs, of which my particular model of freezer was not included. There are lots of parts in the kit for other installs which weren't used. Once I decided which parts to use, the install went smoothly. I would recommend you to have the unit installed by a technician if you're not mechanically inclined. So far the ice maker has worked splendidly, and I am pleased with purchase.

It produces ice at a pretty decent speed... but I wish there was some sort of water purifier. The ice still tastes like plastic even though I've threw away about 5-6 full trays of ice. I was reading online and someone mentioned that it took about 5-6 months for the ice to start tasting normal.... So, I will just be patient and keep throwing away ice.

Whirlpool has the only standup freezer that has the option to install a ice maker. It works great and was an easy install. The freezer has all the connections for the ice maker already installed, so all you need to do is install this. If you want a stand up freezer with a ice maker this is the way to go.
