Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Cabrio 4.8 Cu. Ft. 26-Cycle High-Efficiency Steam Top-Loading Washer's large capacity, excellent cleaning performance, and quiet operation. Many appreciate its ease of use and the added benefit of the steam feature. While some noted that the spin cycle could be improved and expressed preference for an agitator-less design, the positive feedback on other aspects outweighs these concerns. The price point also receives favorable comments.

I bought this and the matching 7.0 cu.ft. dryer and they are fantastic. This washer gets my clothes cleaner, it has so many different options for different types of materials being washed. The cycles are always decently quick and so far it is very efficient with energy and water from what I have seen on my recent bills. It's spin cycle is quiet yet super quick, it will wring most clothes to a dry or slightly damp feeling when done, making drying times much quicker. It is even fascinating to watch. For my first washer purchase, I am 100% satisfied and very happy I chose this one to go with. I feel it will last a long time with the right care but I have only had it less than 2 months so I can't speak on longevity, which is why it is getting a 4 star

If I could give this any less than 1 star I would. I always loved Whirlpool, in fact, the washing machine I had previous to purchasing this one was a Whirlpool and I had many good years with that machine before it finally gave out after 20+ years. The cost of repair was not worth it. I can't say how disappointed I am with this purchase. Every time I wash clothes particularly dark items, mostly black, I need to rewash them sometimes more than once because there are patches of soap that don't rinse out. Clothing comes out twisted in knots, leaving the patches of white soap all over the clothing. I have followed directions, laying each item flat, not over filling the tub, using pretty much a dime size amount of soap, etc. and still I get these white patches of soap so visible on the clothing that it looks as though there is mold growing on the clothing. I use such a small amount of soap, that the clothing doesn't really even smell clean and I wonder if they even are. I realize that these new machines are supposed to be water conserving machines but in the end I use a great deal more water rewashing these items to make them wearable. I miss my old washing machine with an agitator and a full tub of water.

Tried several times to wash clothes and was confused by the amount of water in the tub as well as the clothing not being agitated properly. Put white clothing in after a trip and let it run through the cycle while pulling the clothing out several of the items that were folded we're still completely folded. Got so frustrated with the water levels that I added water to the machine so the clothes could move around and not be twisted into a big mess. The big tub looks good but it doesn't seem to do the job that is needed you'll be very frustrated when you look inside the washing machine and see that some of the clothes are still dry.

I needed something to replace my front loader which, may I add, was a pretty good washer for 9 yrs. I saw this, and read the reviews. Went against all negatives and am glad I did! Nothing but clean clothes! I've used powder as well as liquid detergent. Same outcome. The washer may not appear as big at first glance. Once you see the basket you too will be amazed. My 1st load was a queen comforter, sheets, and 2 towels. Every item came out nice and clean! It's HE and uses less water. I've used the steam option on a different load... Can we say IMPRESSED?!! I was. I highly recommend this washer to anyone looking for a washer. Not only is it quiet, but it's pretty and exceeds expectations! I'm pleased with this purchase. Whirlpool has this listed at a price point of $900+ This right here can make one of your Best Buys I kid you not! Everything is touch operated. The panel is very user-friendly. You can't go wrong!

I've waited a few weeks to write this review and if I had written this review the first day I used this machine I would have given it one star and returned it considering it nothing more than a poor effort on Whirlpools part. Then, after reading the directions THOROUGHLY and learning that what I consider a mixed load Whirlpool considers bulky, I have had some amazing results with far less water. If you follow the directions on loading clothing; detergent type and amounts; liquid conditioner type and amounts; and the proper use of Oxi and other additives you have only reached 1/2 of the learning curve necessary to properly use this washer. This is a great machine and with the deep water setting I was able to get a king size comforter clean with little effort. Also, with the steam feature and a little oxi white revive my whites are dazzling (including our white socks), smell great and now I don't have to use bleach. Additionally, if you choose, it can spin your clothing really fast greatly reducing drying time. It's really quiet, the only time I hear this washer from the next room is when it fills, activates the pump to drain and chimes. Also, the chime feature can be made louder or softer depending on your preferences. The only difference between this machine and the top of the line Whirlpool is the mobile app., 1/2 square foot capacity, active spray, and color choices. So basically this is a high end white machine that can't be hacked. This is not your mothers top loading machine. Even though it is top loading it is an HE machine in every way and has to be used as such. When it comes to detergent and especially fabric softener less is more. It has more flexibility than the front loader it has replaced and with the deep water option blankets, comforters, winter coats and other bulky items are cleaner and better rinsed.

    Good washing machine

I bought this washing machine after my old agitator washing machine broke down. I have very limited space so couldn't go with the front loading washer and I really didn't want to buy another agitator model. I decided on this Wirlpool model because it was on sale and it would fit our limited space. I did read all of the negative reviews of this model and was extremely nervous ! But after I did my first load, I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this washer cleaned my clothes. And my laundry was dirty! I have kids who come home from school covered in dirt and a husband who works on a construction site. Yes, the washer uses significantly less water than the old center agitator models. But it seems to add water throughout the washing cycle so it starts out with very little water but keeps adding a bit more after the clothes have been agitated for a little bit. I specifically did not use the deep water setting (unless washing blankets/comforters) because it was stated in the manual that high water levels actually reduce the friction between the pieces and so your clothes might not come out as clean as with lower water levels where the clothes rub against each other to get clean. Yes, the washer takes longer to wash your clothes than the old style machines. I usually do a normal cycle with heavy soil level and an extra rinse which is about 1 hour 20 minutes. It's about an hour without an extra rinse. Unlike what other reviewers have stated my clothes never came out dry. You can see through the glass lid that the clothes on top do get pulled down to the bottom eventually although this does not happen as quick as in the center agitator washer. The only problem I had was with my son's neoprene lunch bag which I placed on top when loading the washer and it never got pulled to the bottom probably due to it being so thick and somewhat water proof. I just made sure to put in on the bottom of the washer the next time and it was washed fine. My clothes also never came out smelly or with white detergent streaks. I use Persil liquid detergent in the recommended amount and also used unscented Seventh Generation liquid detergent. Even with the unscented detergent, the clothes came out smelling fresh. Overall, I am very pleased with this washer. I feel like it cleans better than my old center agitator washer. Some of the features that I love are: -Large capacity yet doesn't take too much space. -Very high spin speed. The clothes come out almost dry so less time using the dryer. -Steam option. Used it one time only but it's nice to have as an option. -Very easy to understand controls. -Can add clothes even after the cycle has started. (Need to pause to unlock the lid) A few negative comments are: there's no spin only cycle (only rinse and spin). Also, the water doesn't seem to drain completely from the detergent dispenser. I have to take the dispenser out every time and dump the leftover water. You also have to be careful while loading the clothes into the washer (leaving empty space where a center agitator would be). I am still giving this washer 5 stars because it does clean well which is the most important thing for me and would definitely recommend it.

I need to get used to a washer plate( vs. agitator) machine, but the clothes come out great. Because of this configuration it is easier to load and takes a larger capacity that our old washer, but fits the same space. And it runs quieter. There are the many new status alarms, but some are optional. So far I have no regrets about this purchase.

We went into the store to look at a different brand washer/dryer set that was on sale. The sales person suggested the Whirlpool Cabrio set instead. After hearing about all their options, we went home to research & decided it was the set for us. So glad we did! I didn't think we needed the steam option on the washer but could get a better deal on the set so went with it. Haven't had any issues, pretty quiet, cycles do take longer than my previous 20+ y/o Kenmore but knew from family & friends who have gotten new units this is the norm. I don't have a problem with allowing the machine to dictate how much water to put in, that's is job & not mine to judge! My clothes come out clean & that's what matters most!

As how I imagine. I love Whirlpool and when I can I will purchase the dryer. Works perfectly. Clothes are very clean, nice scent and I dont use so much detergent nor downy for it. Cycles are perfect for each recommendation indicated in the buttons.Clothes are not with detergent residue as others said, you have to use the right detergent for it and amount as indicated. If I have to buy another one i will get the same i have now Washer Cabrio 4.8. OOOO forgot i can wash my big big quits and still space for it. Thankies Whrilpool and Best Buy for providing the good price for it!!!!

I did much research before purchasing a new washer because I'm hoping it is going to last for a long while and I wanted all the great features this machine has! HUGE capacity which I love...I can wash twice as many items in this washer than my old one cutting down laundry time. There were some sounds you have to get used to but being it's in our basement that doesn't really matter to me. One of the cycles sounds like you cell phone vibrating somewhere on a table and found my husband and myself searching for said phone then realizing it was the washer! All in all it is a great washer, especially for the price!

I search for a while before buying a new washer and dryer. There are a lot of models out there, so I basically decided to choose one made in America. I do not regret that decision. this machine is huge by my previous comparison. my laundry has gone from 9 loads of laundry a week to 4! I have had this machine for a little over a month and it seems to be very efficient and quiet.

Before I get to the machine itself, I want to thank Donald at the Tiffany Springs store for answering all of my questions and expediting my purchase smoothly. I'd also like to thank the Geek Squad guys who arrived on time and delivered, set up, and tested the machine (and the matching dryer) fast enough to make my head spin! Very enjoyable experience all the way around. As for the machine itself, I am at a loss to explain some of the negative reviews being given to this state-of-the-art High-Efficiency (HE) washer. If you follow the handy Quick Start Guide sheet included in the owner's manual (see photo) there's no "steep learning curve." It is possible that it might take a bit of experimenting with the particular detergent you prefer, but almost every brand out there will work with this machine (I use Persil and haven't had any residue issues). I suspect most of the complaints about the machine are from folks used to drowning and strangling their laundry. I have experienced none of the problems described in the negative reviews here. It definitely makes some noises that are not typical of a washing machine, but the VOLUME of those sounds is well below the level of a conventional machine. No complaints on that score. Some people are intimidated by electronic devices, and would prefer the more traditional knobs and switches found on less expensive machines. I personally don't miss them, and found the Cabrio's controls easy to understand and fun to use. This machine has the see-through lid, and I definitely recommend watching a load or two to gain a better understanding of how your new machine does its job. I haven't had occasion to use the steam function yet, but the feature as described in the owner's manual certainly seems like a worthwhile upgrade from the base Cabrio (the matching dryer also has the steam feature). I am looking forward to testing it out soon. After I've had the machine for another month or so I'll come back and post an update, but to this point I'm delighted with both the quality and performance of my new Whirlpool!

Bought this washer to replace an older (~12 yrs) front loader: First this top loader is SO MUCH EASIER to load and unload than the front loader was. Second, the menu selection is VERY EASY to use Third, it is MUCH QUIETER than all washer we'we owned. The only negative (after a month of usage) is that the soap dispenser should retract automatically when washer starts. Not a big deal...just that I forgot to push is back a couple of times.
