I really wanted to like it, but...

Like the title says, I really wanted to like this washer. A couple of months back, we decided to "upgrade" to a newer, non-agitator washer with a big enough tub to clean some beddings. And since our old Whirlpool had lasted for close to two decades and still worked great, we had high hopes our new American-made machine. It's a beautiful machine with a big, stainless tub, and a modern, touch-screen interface. And unlike the Samsung that we also liked, it actually fit depth-wise into our hall laundry space. Right away, however, we noticed that it takes a long, long time to wash anything, even a small load, in our new “high-efficiency” washer. And then, loads never seem to come out all that clean unless they're run through a “deep water” cycle. Nor are they all that well spin-dried, even on the washer's highest setting. Consequently, our old dryer now has to run much longer. The next thing we discovered was that larger loads, such as jackets, blankets, or beddings, almost always end up out-of-balance, causing the washer to shut down. And unfortunately, that pretty much means re-starting with a short wash-cycle, which runs about twenty-minutes at a minimum. In some cases, it's taken three or four tries to make it all the way through a single, hard-to-balance item, and it always requires that only a single large item (such as a blanket) be washed one at one time. In fact, pretty much any load that approaches half-filling the tub will probably end up out-of-balance. The second big issue is water-hammer. In fact, it's the sound of our house pipes being repeatedly hammered into submission at this very moment that instigated this review. The method recommended for stopping this by a repair-person is to partially close the offending valve (cold water in our case). However, the result is inevitably an "LF" (low fill-rate) error-code appearing on the washer as it simply shuts down mid wash. Installing an anti water-hammer fitting seems in order. After two months of two or three loads per week, it's become apparent that our new washer has consumed a great deal more time, effort, and I suspect water than did our old washer. The glacially-slow wash cycles combined with a do-over rate of about 60% means quite literally multiple hours spent hovering over a fussy, delicate, and temperamental machine that threatens to explode our water pipes at any moment. And the repeated out-of-balance washes, which often need to be done with a deep-water setting initially, mean that a lot of extra water is going down the drain anyway. As much as I hate to admit it, I miss our old washer.

DO NOT BUY THIS WASHING MACHINE

.***********WARRANTY IS USELESS******* May 2018-I bought this washing machine 4 months back after carefully researching and reading all the "positive reviews", after 4 months, i started hearing lot of noise(really loud like that of a broken wheel) i called the customer service twice , both the times they came and told me i am overloading , the clothes have to be put properly and accused me that am not using the washer properly ,I belong to the generation where i have been using washing machine as a child, I recorded a video with clothes just 3 inch of height with less than 20 clothes. The machine still continues to make noise, It makes the noise after 40 minutes in the (colorlast cycle) , the service guy said that how it works ,it is loud when asked why it didn't occur first month he just said i don't know , it's fine and am not going to anything (am told if i call again there is $90 service fee), Whirlpool outsources the service to a local company and the local company do not want to "fix anything". This means If you have a issue with the washer then you are stuck WARRANTY IS USELESS.

We decided to purchase this washer after looking at all the reviews and feel decent about the decision. Appliances aren't made like they used to be, and we all have to deal with that so we bought the warranty. Pros: Large capacity so I can wash the comforters with no issues. That I really love! Not too loud except sometimes when it's fully loaded, but that's not too common in our household. Cons: Based on new design, you have to be careful when washing dark clothes, such as men's dress shirts or blouses. You need to make sure to pick the "delicates" cycle or else you will get white detergent stains all over. I read this in other reviews and couldn't believe it until it happened. It's just a matter of following the suggested wash settings, but I guess not as intuitive at first. Overall I would recommend and have been using it roughly 3 months with no issues.

I diligently researched washers before buying this model but it didn’t help. We’ve had it for a little over a year. It doesn’t wash clothes well, I suspect it has some to do with low water usage, ridiculously low water usage. Even on the deep water setting, we will have completely dry spots on clothes. But the biggest problem is the poor design of plastic lid and metal hinges. The hinges eventually start putting stress on the lid and start cracking the plastic. We now have to push the hinge/lid down and hold it until it locks in order for the machine to start washing. Look elsewhere for a washer but definitely get a metal lid, the plastic will break

I love the large capactiy of this washer. I can put my entire king size bedding (comforter too) and still have room. One critical feature it does NOT have is a solo spin cycle... so... if your towels are a little too damp, you have to rinse and spin (kind of defeats the purpose)-- You can't just spin to remove excess water...so be sure to change the spin level before starting a load. The other thing is the "add garment" feature. I figured I could just open and throw in. No-- it pauses the cycle altogether and you have to hold the start button down again. You can only add the garment for the first 30 seconds- a minute, then the top locks. I am sure that is safest, but one of the reasons I picked this is becuase I thought I could just open thr lid anytime snd throw something in without any fuss.

So far we’ve had the washer for a few weeks and love it. We recently bought a newer dryer which is larger and our last washer couldn’t wash loads to fill it. This one can and then some! If you’re on the shorter side you may have a little trouble reaching the bottom of the drum. The only issue we had was with a smaller load that included a small down throw and (user error) my better half didn’t evenly distribute and we got an error for being unbalanced since it senses the load for water level and spin. Happened only once and sure we won’t load like that again. I love all the cycle options. I would have rated 5 but I have to agree with the woman who posted about the pipes thumping while it stop and starts several times while filling. I do really like the pleasant on/ done noises it makes.

    Terrible!

I LOVED this washer when I first purchased it. However, I just found out that the reason why it's flooded my laundry room (a few times in a few months now!!!) Is because it gets stuck on a time and STAYS WASHING FOR HOURS UNTIL SOMEONE STOPS IT OR UNTIL IT FLOODS!!!!! In order to stop it or get it "Unstuck" you need to turn it off and take out incredibly heavy drenched clothes that haven't been fully washed and try to reset the load which is AWFUL! I'll be contacting best buy to either get my money back or get a replacement. I'm SO disappointed as I've purchased several appliances through best buy and NEVER had an issue.

Read many reviews and was on the fence with this purchase. Remember reading a review suggesting to thoroughly read the manual and follow directions, which we did. Not thrilled with the Mixed setting, nor the no spin setting. However, I'm sure they do serve a purpose. Resorted back to separating delicates, had tried them on Mixed, and the clothes come out wrinkled, but are fine on Delicate. I don't understand when we wash on Cold water settings, why the clothes are warm when we pull them out of the washer. Still getting used to the washer, and these are minor issues. This washer is so QUIET, we love that!

Delivery person does not have manner

My washer and dryer was delivered and installed. Delivery person did not even test to see if dryer works properly. He left after 10 minutes of washing I heard a noise coming from washer and noticed a lot of debris on drip pan. To make it short the transmission is rubbing off of the drip pan and the delivery guy did not adjust the footing to make it higher so that transmission don't touch the drip pan. So make sure when you have washing machine installed to test it with heavy load. And Erin (geek squad) state that they don't deliver on Sunday while my first order was delivered on Sunday. Erin make sure you have your story straight.

Glitchy or is the kitten pushing our buttons?

Things you should know: this is a very happy washer. It plays a lovely time and flashes all sorts of lights as it goes through the cycle. To this, our kitten likes to hop atop the washer and pad away the flushing lights. We've had a few cycles that didn't thoroughly spin the water out of our clothes. Is the kitten "pushing our buttons"? Or is the washer faulty? TBD. One month into ownership, I only just Google searched the problem. Sounds like this is a pretty common issue with Cabrio washers. Makes me feel better about the kitten, but less awesome about the washer.

We moved from an old school agitator washing machine to this new set and we love it. We wanted to make sure we would have enough room to be able to fit our king size bedding. There is room to spare!! It is so nice to put what would have been 3 different loads of clothes, all into one load. It has been a huge time saver and our clothes are so much cleaner. I shopped around for a long time and am super happy with our choice!!!

Within the first 2 washes the machine made a grinding noise and would no longer run. It took Best Buy almost 2 weeks to have another delivered. When they were installing they noticed that the washer melted the tray we had it sitting on. We were told it was either a bad motor or baring (not sure if you spell it that way). This could have caught our house on fire. Disappointed there was no follow up by BB and that it took so long to deliver another. However we do really like the new one that was delivered and is working. So thankful for no fire!

We bought this Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine as replacement of the same washing machine. We had our prior one for about 8 years. The original was nice and quiet. Did the job. This new one is slightly noisy. In certain cycles, it tends to bump, bump, bump, and sometimes rattle. I was hoping that it would run as smoothe as the original. This one has a plastic type Lid. Old machine had a type of tempered glass. It just seem to me that the older machine was built with better and stronger parts. Overall, I would but it again.

I had to wash my comforter twice. The first time it came out with dirt lines in the creases. Every load except the most delicate personals had to be dried at least twice and no amount of fiddling with the settings changed that. The dryer's lint trap could not be cleaned with your hand and I have small hands. The opening was too narrow and oddly shaped. I had tobuse a spoon to get lint out of the trap. The "normal" wash cycle and dryer cycle was too long.

This washer is huge, and you can do a lot of laundry in one load. We like the delay start on this machine. Like I said earlier this machine is huge. I am 5’3” and have to stand on my tippy toes all the way to get all the items out. This nachine has no agitator, which I believe twists the clothes more than a machine with an agitator. Also, I was able to get a rebate for 50.00 from my electric company. I would revommend this washer.

After having the same washer for 20 years ... I was skeptical at finding one that I would like with the "new " technology. I have been very pleased with this unit. It spins so fast that the clothes are almost dry before going into the dryer. It is quiet and holds a very large load. So far ... I am very pleased with my selection.

This is a great looking washer, and although a stainless steel color option wasn't available, it did fit well with our other Whirlpool appliances we bought. I wish other color choices were available as my wife and I weren't necessarily fond of the white, but with them being in a separate closed off room, as long as the washer & dryer matched and they looked nice, that was good enough. Love the music it plays when loads are done. Haha

I am so impressed with how much I can wash in this appliance! So impressed! Clothes come out clean, smell great, and are never damaged! Only con I could possibly come up with is how long some of the settings take, but I will take clean clothes and blankets over that con any day!

This is our 3rd Cabrio. We love it. It handles really large loads with no problem. My wife is a quilter and we have several handmade quilts for our king size bed and this washer has no problem washing them. It also takes small and medium sized loads just as easily. With multiple options for different types of clothing it is a great washer.
