Now that the weather is getting hotter, we’ve had a chance to use this and are quite pleased. It’s quieter and cools the room more quickly than our old one. Overall a good purchase.

This portable air conditioner worked great to help cool our family room this summer. I wish it would go slightly colder but it does what we need it to.

After a month of using this product, it never gave me a negative comment. All are well with this airconditioning. Great !!!

I have my office in my bedroom and it gets very warm and this unit keeps it cool in there with no problem.

Does the job perfectly. Settings are easy to work with. Doesn't add much to the electric bill.

Great deal, works very well. The only knock I have on it are connecting the plastic hoses, they have a tendency to fall off, especially if you try to move the unit a few inches over. Keeps the room cold though.

This unit was great during the unbearable heat wave. Really wanted the unit w/ both a/c & heat, but it was sold out. This unit was more expensive since it has a better air filter which I don't care for.

This is my first air conditioning unit and I'm very satisfied.

I decided to go big or go home, and glad I did. This unit cools my apartment well. A little loud, but totally worth it for the comfort. The dual exhaust hoses are bulky and ugly, but I wasn't going for looks....I was going for comfort. So if you don't mind 2 huge white hoses snaking out your window, this is a great unit.

Worked solid for about a year, then stopped produces cold. Thank God I got an warranty.

Cost is high but the unit performance is effective and efficient so far. Hopefully it continues to work when it’s 90 to 100.

My previous portable a/c had a bucket that needed to be emptied often. Unfortunately it became impossible to lift it to take it outside to empty and finally the water started to leak out all over the floor. I was very hesitant to buy another portable A/C because I didn't want to have to empty the water out and the risk of having another leak. I was told about the Whynter brand from a neighbor who said he has never had to empty his. Of course I found many Whynter models to choose from. I chose this model ARC-143MX because I didn't need the one that also included a heating element, and it probably won't need to be emptied ( I have it on A/C or fan only-- I am not using the dehumidify mode) and it has received high reviews. I am able to cool the entire condo (778 sq ft) with the help of standing fans directing the cool air into the next room. It is somewhat loud - it's next to the sitting area for watching TV - but as I have another TV in the other room that is not really an issue for me. I bought some insulation stripping to put on the sides of the window kit to ensure a good seal with the window. I am really enjoying this Whynter Elite 14,000 BTU portable A/C. It cools fast and with my double paned windows it stays cool inside for quite awhile. It's easy to use and when not cooling I put it on the fan mode to dry it out.

It’s heavy. Need 2 people to safely load, unload and to unbox it. It should not be laid down, store vertical only. Let the unit stand vertical at least 4 hours prior to use, compressor and refrigerant necessity to avoid damage to unit. Noise: Not bad, about 60db next to the unit, about 50 dB 10 feet away from it. It sounds like a heavy rain, I think it’s perfect for white noise to help sleep. Effectiveness cooling: Yes it will. But realize every cooling situation is different from air leakage, solar heating, insulation, doors opening, gaps in room, etc. I bought this because it was the largest portable unit that I could safely lift and it runs from 110V at under 11 amps, so it can use a standard outlet. If needed I can move it around the house. It’s also my backup cooling if I am using a generator after a power loss. It’s normal use is will be in a room over a garage that is nearly impossible to keep comfortable with the central HVAC system. Venting kit: 4 out of 5. Little bit difficult to snap together, even harder to disassemble. Hint: Do NOT put adapters onto both window vent and main unit UNTIL you have screwed the hoses into the adapters. Otherwise you will be disassembling again, be careful to not break something. The hoses are good quality, but I think both hoses should come with an insect screen. The window adapters are adequate, 3 out of 5. You will not get a good seal around the window, so there is opportunity for air loss, insects, rain leaks around the window, etc. Best to customize the window adapter with weather stripping and HVAC aluminum tape to get a better seal, or just custom build one for your needed size. The 3 pieces that come with the window kit allow you to slide them together for various dimensions, but the maximum will be about 42 inches long. But you may need to trim the extra pieces to fit certain windows due to the maximum and minimum length combinations of the adapters. The main piece is 20”, the other ones are 20” and 10”, but they must overlap 2 inches for rigidity. The screws in the main piece are meant to hold the adapters together, but they stripped the plastic holes with a couple of uses.

Not so great for the price. Takes lot of time to cool a 400 sft living room at 85 degrees temp. No auto swing, doesnt circulate the air in all corners.
