Customers are saying

Customers praise the ARC-122DS Elite air conditioner's powerful cooling capabilities and relatively easy setup. However, some customers find the unit's noise level to be a drawback, and others have experienced challenges with the window attachment system. The window kit may require modification for proper fit in some windows. Overall, the cooling performance is a significant positive aspect for many users.

Im researching for a new AC and came accross this purchase i made 5 years ago. This beast is still going strong. The unit is strong, well made, heavy and cools off a 400 sq ft in matter of minutes. This has been a great purchase. The only downsize is 1. The hose that connect the unit to window are bulky and heavy. This makes knstallation in a narrow space tricky amd 2. The unit is loud. I have to turn the AC off when on calls. Other than rhat this is a great portable AC.

After the humid heatwaves in Southern California last month I finally decided to buy an a/c. Unfortunately, I haven't a chance to really put this a/c through it's paces yet. Our most recent heatwave was the dry Santa Ana variety. Not nearly as uncomfortable without the humidity. The results, so far, are questionable. This a/c unit has a thermostat to give you the temperature in the room. I used it when the temps got over 90° outside last weekend. I waited until it started to get uncomfortable, in order to save on electricity. This a/c cooled off the living room/kitchen of my 1 bedroom apartment quickly. Here's the problem: how cool was it? I would set the temp to around 70° just to test the unit out. After running it for a couple of hours during peak afternoon temps the unit's thermostat never seemed to get below 79°. The thermostat on the wall never seemed to get below 74°. Either way, it felt pretty nice in my apartment. I would start the a/c, jump in the shower, and the temp would be around 5° cooler 15 minutes later. When i shut the unit off in the evening and opened the door and windows I saw the temp on my wall thermostat increase rapidly. My building is about 60 years old. Individual units tiered against a hill. There's nothing blocking the direct sunlight from hitting my unit for most of the day. I don't know what kind of insulation there is here. That could be a major factor.. Still, if I could get these kind of results - and dehumidify my place when it gets humid outside - I should do fine. With this dry heat I haven't had to empty the reservoir yet. Although I've heard that when it's humid I could be emptying it every 4 hours, or so. Someone said using a large freezer bag would work for that, seeing as how the plug is so close to the bottom of the unit. Set up was pretty standard for one of these units. Actually took about and hour and a half to screw things together for it's initial set-up.. A process I won't have to repeat in the future. Dual exhaust. One of them is presumably for the dehumidifier. When I go outside I can feel the hot air coming out of one of the hoses, but nothing from the other. It's also a bit quieter than the PAC unit I tried last year.

It was very stylish but took a long time to cool my small bedroom. I was hoping it would cool my bedroom and a hallway with it being 12000 btu but my 5000 BTU kicked out cooler air than this. Maybe it was just a dysfunctional machine I got, but I returned it and bought a 5000 BTU for just the bedroom, a Haier A/C. Hopefully this does the trick. Best of luck
