Great Ice by always using gallon bottles of Distilled Water. Never use tap water.

This a awesome little ice maker, exceeds expectation.

Had this through the warmest month of July in our area in 70 years. Worked like champ. I have it in a big room, but be warned it puts out a pretty decent amount of heat from the blower.

Fast, Easy, Wonderful. I have had it for about a month now and can't say enough about how much I like this ice machine. I remember reading a review about it being bigger than expected..... It is not small.

This was the smartest thing we ever bought it saved us a whole bunch of money. We take it on hotel stays, traveling and using for everyday use it was the best investment to date .

and you don't have an ice maker in your fridge this is great. I would actually use this even if my fridge had an ice maker

Ordered online and had shipped to the house. Product arrived on time and was to be used for a New Years Eve party. Set it up and plugged it in a few days early. It made one batch of small thin bullets, after that it would just dump water into the ice basket. Never made ice again. For the price I really expected it to at least do it's job and make ice. Returning item.

We obtained the Whynter portable ice maker and were excited about its appearance, functionality, and cleaning feature. However, after one week, it stopped working. We called the Whynter toll free number and left messages with no calls back. Finally, we got a hold of someone and now have to go through a lengthy returns process. Very disappointed!

Ice starts melting before next ice is ready to dump

I bought this model to replace an Igloo 26 lb model that stopped working after 3 years of constant use. I couldn't figure out how this could make double the ice with longer cycles and not having double the prongs to create ice. It's because this one makes larger cubes - I'd estimate each cube to be 3 times as heavy as the 26 lb units produce. The ice is not clear if that's important to you. The maximum daily output is rated 49 pounds. I estimate the basket probably holds a little over 2 pounds - I think it is storing 2 or 3 times what the 26 lb model holds. The larger ice cubes means fewer are needed to fill a glass. Due to the small basket size I ran the 26 lb model day to night, but I can run this one a couple of hours before lunch using the nifty auto shut off timer and even though the storage isn't refrigerated, it is insulated well enough for the larger cubes to last long enough for my needs for the remainder of the day. It holds much more water so I don't have to fill as often. The trade off is this thing is HUGE and heavy to move. I'm sort of happy the igloo broke after owning this for a few weeks. I'm taking it to a thanksgiving gathering to help with the ice needs. If this lasts 3 years, I'll be completely satisfied.

Love the ice machine. Makes ice quickly when it is needed such as during the hot summer months. However, when you turn it on trought out the 1st 3 baches since it would take some time for it too chil the water and for the coolent to get to the correct tempertures. Also there is no clening of ice trays it is all done by the cooling pips that sit in a water dish. As soon as it freezes it it would add a small amount of heat to release the ice. The only drawback is you would have to fill the water tank every so often so there is suficent water for it to make ice. Does who do not have a freezer this may not be a good fit since the unit is inselted but the ice bucket is not chiled but inselted so ice will not stay frozen for a long time but it will recycle any melted ice that is in the unit

We've had portables in our RV over the past 10 years. This seems to be the best of them right now. Looks great and makes ice faster than any of our old machines.

Stopped working shortly after one year. No warning that it was going out. The water tray that holds water up to the cold rods stopped moving. This is my second one of these models. Be sure to buy at least a two year warranty.
