I've seen this movie sometime ago, but when it came out in 4K, and I have since purchased a 65" 4K Samsung TV, I had to buy it. Based on a true story, Reese Witherspoon gives remarkably honest performance. Faced with much failure in her life, through much fault of her own, she sets out on a 1000+ mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail, with no survival experiences under her belt. I think, more to punish herself to feel the pain until finally it makes her stronger for finishing the challenge. A very good movie for outdoor enthusiasts. I enjoyed watching it again, and in 4K.

    RIVETING PFORMANCES

We Oregonians tend to pride ourselves on our pioneer spirit, and there's probably no finer contemporary example than that of Cheryl Strayed. Wild is an unusually compelling film, one that ping pongs rather effortlessly between its travelogue elements and the somewhat more labyrinthine journey Strayed takes through her roiling psyche. The film has a rare feel of authenticity, one that is certainly aided and abetted by riveting performances by the Oscar nominated Witherspoon and Dern. Technical merits are outstanding, and the supplemental package is extremely enjoyable. Highly recommended.

This movie exceeded expectations in many aspects, from the complexity of the story, performance by Reese Witherspoon, and production quality. Experience in outdoor activity will help in appreciation of technical nuances, but most mature audiences will enjoy it just for entertainment value. The fact that it is based on a true story only enhances your appreciation of the character and events.

I had to have this for my own to watch again and again. I don't identify with the pre-movie behaviors of the Cheryl Strayed character at all. It's hard to be sympathetic to her despite what she went through as a kid. I've known many people with similar childhoods who handled it without going out of control, so the film is not a tear-jerker for me. Here's what I loved this film: the woman's journey to find herself again. That is too good for words. We're here to grow. Reese Witherspoon and associates put this film together BEAUTIFULLY, ARTFULLY, SENSITIVELY.

This is a very good film which is only enhanced by the 4k picture quality, as there are plenty of dazzling scenes in addition to the interesting true story. If you're intrigued by the film or are already a fan and considering this, I would say go with the best picture quality version which is this one.

Wild. Wild is a very well told story of a woman's journey of trying to strengthen and heal herself from destructive behavior. Beautifully shot. Great performances. Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern both nominated for Best performance by leading actress and best performance by supporting actress respectively. If you follow that sort of thing then this is for you

This movie is a great example of someone straightening out her life while in the process of achieving an applaud-able accomplishment. I have a dream of someday doing a through hike like this, and this is what drew me to watch the movie. It is funny and serious at the same time and has beautiful scenery. The character resolves many of the problems in life that most of us face. She constructively pulls herself out of a destructive state. I would recommend this movie; especially if you like this genre; think "Into the Wild" for example.

Good story of a woman at a crossroads in her life and a decision to make a 1,000 mile solo hike on the Pacific Coast Trail. It tells her story of being on the trail and of what situations compelled her to make the hike. Reese Witherspoon does a good job in her portrayal of main character Cheryl Strayed and her encounters with herself and others along the way.

If you have read the book, "Wild", by Cheryl Strayed, you will not be disappointed in this movie. Although some detail has to be left out, the spirit of the book was adhered to & Reese Witherspoon does justice to the part. If you read the book, Cheryl Strayed isn't exactly the girl-next-door. In fact, she's pretty messed up. But, this monumental endeavor to hike the Pacific Crest Trail with no experience helped her to get beyond the personal damage of a life not well lived. This movie is inspiring. You will feel uplifted.

Reese Witherspoon is excellent, lots of range; the film does a nice job integrating the flashbacks, and the Cheryl Strayed story cuts deep. The director / producer interview was a little light but still interesting.

Resse's portrayal of a broken woman seeking validation through unhealthy relationships, drugs and alcohol and how her journey of healing and self-discovery was engaging. My only criticism is that like all too many movies made in Hollywood, they have to insert their particular message of propaganda into an otherwise honest story of life.

Cheryl Strayed, played by Reese Witherspoon, is the central figure of this story infused with flashbacks. She hikes the Pacific Crest Trail to rediscover herself after the death of her mother, played by Laura Dern. Her 1000 mile journey, with great scenic visuals, is frequently interrupted with flashbacks explaining her life's struggles.

True story of a woman's journey through life's obstacles and the triumphs she achieves. Reese Witherspoon is superb and the scenery is fantastic. I never knew the Pacific Crest Tail existed before watching this movie and now I want to go hike it! From "Legally Blonde" to "Wild", this lady is a fantastic actor. Her choice to put herself out there with no makeup makes her character all the more believable and vulnerable. The behind the scenes footage completes journey. A must see adventure.

If you haven't seen The Wild yet, it is a great movie! Even better in 4K format if you have the setup for it at home! We saw this in the theater and the 4K home theater experience is better. For those that like to hike, camp, backpack, and self discover this one will get you in the mood to tackle some challenges this spring!

Solid performance from Reese Witherspoon, who very quietly the last few years has been slowly rebuilding her acting credibility with more challenging roles. The story itself isn't all that great, but with Witherspoon's performance, good direction and editing Wild is able to overcome its story limitations.

This film was phenomenal in theaters and was the best I have ever seen Reese act. She was totally deserving of her Oscar Nod. This film made my top ten list for 2014, but my wife did not get to view it with me in the theaters--so I had to purchase it to watch it again with her. I know that she will love it as well--it is spiritually and emotionally uplifting...a great film to show that growth can occur from even the deepest darkest hours.

I had no idea what to expect. I love Reese Witherspoon, but this is most definitely not her normal character. This film is very ... strong, yet it never hits you in the face. It's a quiet watch, and when you're done you'll want to watch it again to see if you missed any subtleties... or views. The acting is superb, and the storyline is simple. This is a great movie to watch solo or with a friend who won't talk the whole way through

This movie was made to be in 4k in which it shined because of it's beautiful outdoor's scenery that felt so real it made you feel like you were hiking with her in her journey. I seen the Blu-ray before and now I watch the 4k version and it was worth the upgrade .

I love true stories. Looked for this movie on Hulu, youtube, everywhere. But you have to pay to watch it. So I thought might as well just buy it. They give you 4k and Blu-ray. I don't have a 4k, but do have a blu-ray player. This movie is amazing. Pick up curb side was a breeze.

I thought Reese Witherspoon earned her acting cred in Walk the Line (she did), I wasn't expecting the performance that she gave, after renting it from RedBox, I knew it was going to make a permanent addition to my movie collection. Does a fantastic job bringing the viewer along on her journey. The book is on my wish list too!
