Loosely based on actual events, The main character is the Winchester mansion itself it has been debated for decades whether the estate is actually haunted or not. Whether you believe in the paranormal or don’t this film is well worth buying good acting, well written good cinematography. Not for children therefore not a family movie. Don’t rent, go ahead and buy, you will want to watch a second time.

I purchased this film out of interest, because I lives in San Jose and visited the Winchester Mystery House on many occasions. I found the plot interesting, but as to accuracy and truth, I question? Helen Mirren was excellent in the role, as anticipated. I just wish the film centered more on her life and passion for continuing to build until her death.

the movie is based on true events to what happens to a widow when hundreds of people gets killed with the famous Winchester Rifle the gun that won the old west. this movie is heavy on the supernatural but its a fun and interesting movie to watch

I was excited to see this. It’s not amazing not bad. Takes place in the olden days and the Dr. is a good actor. More of a rental popcorn night.

Do not recommend. Not a very good movie. Most of the scary movies that come out now are not like the good old ones.. Most are average at best

Blue-ray viewing good. Not all that thrilled with the story line. Was a little disappointed. Have actually been to the Winchester home years ago.

Not maybe as scary as the "true" story but it is pretty faithful outside the more supernatural elements added on. Mirren is always better than the material.

I was so disappointed with this movie. It was so dry and boring, the movie doesn't have any scenes that actually made me jump.

Winchester may not be a top notch horror film but it has some very fun set pieces and a decent cast, more fun than scary.

If you enjoy these types of movies, it might be worth seeing once. Definitely not something we'd watch again though.
