Bad thumb drive. Wouldn’t install properly

Purchased this in store to avoid the hassle of a downloaded version. This was Very difficult to install. After hours of trouble shooting a ‘half complete’ installation I took a shot in the dark and used this license key with and older windows 10 iso image I put on a different thumb drive. Installed perfectly, although it took 4 hours to apply all the patches to bring it up to the most current release. I purchased this instead of buying a downloadable distribution hoping to avoid that hassle but ended up spending twice as much time getting it to work. Avoid the pain, just download windows and buy a key. Much easier than getting a bad USB drive that only half Installs than continuously crashes with useless error messages.

Originally, I wanted to do an in-place upgrade, but I got a message saying that cannot be done and that only a clean install is possible. So, I backed up all my files and did a clean install. After the installation was done, instead of going straight to the new desktop, the computer went back to the beginning of the clean install, which confused me. This caused me to repeat the clean install again, and then the system went back again to the beginning of the clean install. So, I then shut off the computer by pressing the power button and I removed the installation thumb drive, and I turned the computer back on, and then the new desktop finally appeared. So, I got what I wanted, but it was confusing.

I originally had an issue with the delivery of this product. I had ordered online for delivery what was listed as a full retail version of Windows 10 on disk. What I received was an OEM version. I was able to return it to my local Best Buy with no problem, and ended up getting the USB stick retail version which I was able to install with no issues. There's not much to say about Windows 10. It is what it is. My main comment is to be careful if you don't want an OEM when ordering online. Best Buy DOES NOT specify OEM anywhere on their web page for Windows 10.

I'm giving this 1 star because Microsoft dropped the ball on USB drive I bought. Don't get me wrong....the operating system is great. This flash drive OS I purchased was defective. Could not load Windows onto a brand new empty hard drive. There was a corrupt file on the USB so I could not load the OS to my hard drive. Thankfully my friend had one that was working. I used his to upload the OS and then used my product key to unlock the OS. Definitely fail from Microsoft on sending out USB drives that do not work. Otherwise the OS is great. Combination of Windows 7 and 8.1 . They took the best of both worlds and made a great OS. Finally.

Windows 10 Pro worked perfectly on my MacBook Pro 15 laptop. I installed virtualization software and was able to easily install Windows 10 on this in order to run my Windows applications while, in parallel, continuing to access my Mac OS X applications. I am very pleased by this purchase and I know that by purchasing the copy of Windows from Best Buy that I am purchasing a legit, legal, software license and that is very important to me.

Windows 10 Pro, why even have a Home version...

Win 10 Pro works great for business and it always leaves me wondering why Microsoft just doesn't include all the features in Win 10 Pro in all of their products. I know it boils down to money, but from a consumer's viewpoint, it would make sense to just have "one" version and keep things simple. As long as it keeps working, our place of business is happy, and so far, that is the case.

should come with "how to" documentation. a lot of instructions need MUCH clarifying before actually checking all the boxes. lost all previous files and info when Win 10 installed. had to reset/recover all e-mail account pass words...etc. etc. etc.!!! i am not a computer guru or casual user and it still took 2.5 days to install. ugh...may i please have my Win 7 Pro back???

I had issues with my Win7Pro OS and was advised to upgrade to Win10Pro which I did. I just wish I had taken the free version when it was available. I did get this on sale and am very pleased with the results. The system is more stable now and all of my problems seem to be none existent. I would highly recommend this upgrade.

I purchase this USB version of Windows 10 Pro, only to get a message about missing files. However, I ended up downloading the Win10 Pro via MS website and installation was a breeze. I can't return this because the product key still was valid and best buy policy regarding software. I wish I had just downloaded it straight from MS. Less headache

I've been holding out upgrading to Windows 10 as my Windows 7 always worked fine. But after downloading some dubious software, my registry became corrupt and the computer wouldn't boot up. I took the desktop to the Geek Squad and they fixed me up with Win 10. I'm pretty much happy, but am still learning its ins and outs. I give it a 9.5, so it rounds up to 10

So, now that we no longer have CD Roms or Drives for that matter, the little thumb drive was awesome to use. Unfortunately, for some reason it would not boot using the thumb drive. After several unsuccessful attempts, we used the online version and keyed in the included code and voila. Easy peezy. So if the thumb drive doesn't work, just download it!

Bought this for just in case along with the hard drive to replace my bad hard drive. Had friend to reinstall window and did not need the new key since it is still valid in my PC. Tried to return to store for a couple days later and found out could not return the product. Very disappointed.

With this package you will download the software and then install. In my case it replaced Windows 7. To my delight it replaces the old Windows 7 OS without data loss of the other software APS on the desktop. The download size is very large, so time to download will depend on your Internet speed.

I went with windows pro should I could run more RAM on my new rig. With that said, it’s windows OS. Comes with a lot of bloatware but beyond that it doesn’t exactly what it’s suppose to. Don’t be as surprised as I was when you realize you have to pay to play solitaire!

Needed the windows 10pro to have access to bit locker encryption and some server (work related) things. Installed this OS on my new Mac, via boot camp. Works great! Generally not a needed software (OS) for most pc users. Check with Microsoft.com to compare the differences, to see if buying this product is right for you.

I have been a MAC user for many years and I was very skeptical about using windows, but I build my own computer and I installed this OS and I'm surprised on how well and smooth is running. And it was a very nice transition from one OS to another.

Microsoft has overtime done an amazing job with correcting all the wrongs with Windows 8. Windows 10 for me has been stable. I like the cleaned up interface. I use the Pro version for a couple additional features not available in the home version.

I upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Pro because I needed the features for work. I did not lose any data nor programs during the upgrade. My computer seems to be running faster on the Pro edition. If you need the features that Pro offers then it is worth the upgrade.

I wish I didn't have to upgrade to 10, but other of my software systems required it. I don't love Edge, and here's where I admit to being old - I don't love the look of 10 but I have put a Windows 7 skin on it which has made it more tolerable.

I was a big fan of Windows 7 and XP and was worried from the disaster they had with different versions. They streamlined the install and startup is nearly instantaneous. The OS is very stable and much more responsive when running videos and multiple web pages. So far a fan.
