This is the combined DVD/Blu-Ray package with unrated extra footage, almost all of which was wisely cut out of the movie as shown in theaters. The only really good addition is a single, one-second shot of a severed arm - otherwise, the theatrical version is crisper, faster, more coherent. The film itself is most notable for having breathtaking CGIs - in this case, the technique combined CGI with live actors in a creative and convincing way. The fall of Jerusalem sequence is unforgettable, as is the "zombies on a plane" sequence. The WWZ book portrayed a long, hard struggle to save mankind, but the movie chose to shortcut the tough work with a stupid and incredible gimmick that allows Brad Pitt to save the world. Too bad. But overall, you've got to see this movie. PS- the Blu-Ray version is only slightly more vivid than the DVD version, so you might not want to spend the extra $$$.

I've never read the book, so I don't know how closely adapted this movie was to it...Brad Pitt plays Gerry Lane, a former UN investigator who travels the world (South Korea, Jerusalem, and Wales) to find a way to stop the "zombie apocalypse." This was a good movie to satisfy the zombie "what ifs?", and I liked how they played homage and incorporated a scene with common zombie weapons (axe or a baseball bat) near the end of the film. The zombies in this film run quickly at humans when they sense a stimulus, show no injury when falling from great heights, and amass in hordes. Even with these qualities, I wasn't as scared of these zombies as opposed to those from 28 Days Later (probably my favorite zombie film). Overall, I enjoyed the movie. If you're a fan of zombie flicks, check this one out! Or read the book before/after (like me haha)!

I loved the Max Brooks source material and was at first excited and then a little worried about this movie when I heard about all the production issues, etc. Yeah, it is a lot different in some places than the story in Brooks' work, but I don't think in any way that takes away from a fun story and interesting take on zombies. Would have loved to have seen the underwater zombies and the troops fighting to Maiden's the Trooper, but you can't always get what you want, right? The resolution to the zombie issue is a little weak and leaves a lot of questions, most of which are not answered. Overall though, the first two acts are well done, with lots of action and even a little plotting and characterization along the way. Not deep, mind you, but enough for what you need in a movie like this.

I typically avoid zombie films because too many are made these days and more importantly, too many of them are just so awful. I've always felt that Brad Pitt had an eye or for making good films OR he knows what will make him buckets of money. With this endeavor, I feel as if he achieved both. From the very beginning, you can tell that this film was going to be handled with an amount of class that most zombie films lack. I won't give away too much of the story, but the film respects itself. It's not silly, it's not hokey, and it avoids ridiculous explanations for how zombies come to exist. It's just a well made film. Exciting, to the point, and not too bad to look at. I would recommend this film to those who love zombie films and those who do not, because you may just find something here that you like.

The 3D disc has the theatrical version of the movie. Despite script and production issues, this turned out to be a good film. I didn't see it in theaters, but I regret it, after seeing it on Blu-ray. The 3D is good, there are some scenes that will surprise/scare you. Brad Pitt is good as always, he helped produce the film too. The Blu-ray disc includes the Unrated Cut with Extras. The unrated scenes are slightly more violent but don't ad much to the film. Extras Origins is only 8 minutes, explains the film and brief on Pitts character. Looking at Science is 7 mins 30 secs, explain about zombies WWZ production has 4 sub categories, those are short also. The Journey Begins is cool, show how the green screen scenes were done. Also hate when the trailers aren't included on a disc too.

This movie to me has to be one of the most underrated films in a sea of bigger hard hitting movies. While this is yet another Zombie apocalypse movie, it manages to separate itself a little from an increasing scene of Zombie films. My hopes was that there would another follow up to this film, BUT rumors have it that a "sequel" is officially off the books and this pretty much will have no follow up. Brad Pitt turns his character in this movie into a very good one trying to outrun an outbreak with his family while also being called upon to eradicate the infection and save humanity!!

New york scene was best of all time, to bad it ended quickly, zombies up the Israel wall was amazing too, special mentions: series black summer said zombies make a zombie bridge over a river, id like to see that in a fashionable way, maybe people swim over and think threat is gone haha, also zombies kinda alsways know where people are at like in a canadian zombie movie, its like they feel it, that was awesome, id like to see a more of that, awesome

I am a big fan of the book, so when I heard that the movie was being made I flipped out. Plus it has Brad Pitt!! Zombies + Bead Pitt = great movie, right? Well, yes and no. The movie was great if you didn't read the book of the same title, however, it's a different story if you read it before watching this movie. They left out...... well basically everything from the book except the title. Like with most book-based movies, World War Z would have been a far greater movie if it actually had content from the book. I would DEFINITELY recommend buying the extended edition. It doesn't really have any new material, but it has way more blood and carnage. Everything we love in a zombie movie :)

I really love this movie and read they are making sequel to be released in 2018 or 2019. Can't wait. This movie was well-acted by Brad Pitt and the entire cast was good. I think his wife could've been better cast as there didn't seem to be much chemistry but all in all, I really love this movie and have watched it several times. I love the CGI effects and the scene (possible spoiler alert) where the zombies pile on top of each other to climb the wall and end up jumping over it, was not only scary and nail-biting but so well done. Never seen this done in a zombie movie before.

I loved this movie! I watched it in theatres originally, and was really excited to own this movie for myself. When I heard that there would be extra scenes, I had been so stoked-- but unfortunately, those are only on the Blu-Ray. It's fine, since I have a player for it, but unfortunate for those who don't. It's a different take on the typical zombie movies you see (aside from the more comedic ones). Also, I have read some of the book and I think they did an amazing job taking the book and putting it into a film with an actual story-- instead of several different points of view and mini stories (think Contagion).

There is a lot of Zombie fare these days and 85% of it is absolute junk. I'd say that The Walking Dead is getting it done on TV and World War Z is truly a great movie in the midst of Zombie junk. The situation is tense, almost from minute one. Brad Pitt is good in his role as main guy and he does carry the movie. This movie was surrounded in controversy while it was being made so I was skeptical when it actually came out. I took a chance and bought this on black Friday, definitely do not regret it. The movie is rewatchable and just the beginning of a new franchise which is awesome! Check it out!

Pretty entertaining despite some silly tropes and overall corn. As a fan of the WWZ book, I can't say this film is perfect. However, I can tell you the movie delivers in blockbuster fashion an entertaining zombie film. Sometimes you lament when Hollywood gets a hold of fan favorite IP, but other times you can be happy they at least tried. Supposedly has a sequel coming some day? I will watch that too for sure.

Great Take On The Zombie Genre

I never read the book World War Z, and I've heard that the only thing similar between the two is the title, but this is an entertaining movie regardless. Brad Pitt gives a surprisingly deep performance. The graphics are very well done and it's a tense experience. I love the idea of taking the Zombie genre to this epic of a scale and despite early evidence to the contrary, this movie overcame the difficult filming process and is a home run, in my opinion. If you didn't get to see it on the big screen, make sure you pick up the Blu-Ray. And it has quite a few extras that fans will enjoy.

I was never into the whole "zombie craze", or a big watcher of "The Walking Dead". But, when I saw previews for this movie, I went to the theater, and gave it a watch. I was surprised that it was not something I expected. As with all "apocalypse movies", many people died. But, there was a logical ending to it. This movie is worth repeated viewings.
