Easy to use and install cameras. Strong magnet mount with range of motion. Quick set up and management with app. Cameras are clear, video is excellent. Night vision captures great detail. Like that you can set detection zone and sensitivity. Fast recharging. Great product for reasonable price. Very happy with it thus far. Sturdy cameras have survived a couple falls form 8 feet thus far without issue.
The cameras do not work inside windows as the camera focuses on itself and no further detection.

This 3 pack of cameras didnt quite hit the mark for me in some areas, yet still holds it own amongst other competitors in this space. First and foremost, please do not let the 4 star review hold you back from picking these up, these are solid as a choice in the majority of all reasons you'd want to utilize exterior home cameras. However, with that being said there ware a couple of (small) areas that I think could be improved.
Firstly, the install of these are a piece of cake, the supplied mounting tool and screws are more than capable to support these cameras. The cameras are built well and do not require much maintenance if any at all either. Although they are built well they are visually clunky with a ridged boxy exterior, not a deal breaker, just not my preference.
These are 1080p, not 4k, which is one area that I had hoped would be standard in this day of age, but that being said, the picture is smooth and streams seamlessly. There is an 8x digital zoom with a 130 degree field of view too, I understand this is not a moving camera and that these zoom and FOV are more than generous too for this type of camara set up. The night vision is very impressive, however. The color night visions is something I've never seen as I've always been accustomed to the "green" tint night vision. Those days seem to be gone, or close to gone.
All in all, this outdoor camera bundle proves to be a sound set up with some minor quirks and areas that can be improved in future designs. A few "nice to haves" are missing but all of the "must haves" are present. I recommend!

Wyze has been in the home security space for some time now. Their initial indoor camera offered reliable security cameras, with surprisingly great quality, and onboard storage to save your recordings. After several generations of indoor cameras, they finally released their Outdoor Generation 1 Camera; which uses a small hub to connect to your home network. The video quality was also surprisingly great, but lacked some of the detail seen in the 2nd generation indoor/outdoor wired camera. So, I was happy to see a 2nd Generation outdoor camera, which offered similar picture to the wired camera, while maintaining the same form factor.
In the bundle box, you’ll find a starter bundle with the hub and camera, and two additional “add-on” cameras to give you a three camera set up. In the starter bundle box, you’ll find the hub, a USB micro to USB A cable for charging the wireless camera, an Ethernet cable to connect the hub to your router, and one outdoor camera with attached magnetic mount. The add-on cameras each come with the same magnetic mount, a USB cable for charging, and USB power adapter which can be used to charge them.
If this is your first hub, you’ll need to go through the set up using the Wyze app (free in the App Store), plug in the ethernet to your router, and then plugging in the power cable. The app has improved since my last setup experience, walking you through a visual guide in the app, waiting for the LED light to go solid blue. Once paired to your Wyze account, you’ll be prompted to start a CamPlus trial subscription, and also update the firmware of the hub. The firmware update itself only took about 5 minutes to apply, and didn’t require me to be near the hub or staying in the app to complete the installation. Once the hub has finished updating, you can then go through the pairing process of the cameras.
To pair each camera, you simply turn on the camera using the small power switch on the back, near the charging port, and you’ll hear an audible voice message telling you it’s pairing. The pair process was surprisingly easy, taking only about a minute before it prompted me to name the camera. Once paired, the app even tells you to simply hit the pairing button on any additional cameras to quickly pair the others. This made the setup take only a few minutes, with each camera also having a quick firmware installation once all paired.
If you’re replacing generation 1 cameras, the mounts will work the same way. For positioning, it’s important to note that the top of the camera is also magnetic. So, if you’re mounting the device to a roof line, or ceiling, you don’t need to stress about how to place the mount on the bottom of the camera and flipping the video around. Simply attach it the mount to the top of the camera using the articulating mount pad that would normally fit into the bottom of the camera. I was actually impressed with the camera quality. Comparing it to my gen 1 camera, it’s obvious this has a slightly larger sensor, appearing similar in size to their wired camera.
The picture is also clear, especially at night, allowing you to see color vividly in lower light areas. I will note that if this is pointing at a street lamp, you may see some halo or the light may overly saturate the picture. I’d recommend pointing the camera with the light source outside the lens view when positioning to lessen the effect. This is also common with their wired cameras, so I was fully expecting this when positioning to avoid the overly bright light.
If you’re curious how to store recordings without signing up for CamPlus, you can insert a microSD card into the hub, which will store motion recordings for all the cameras paired. If you have multiple cameras, and expect a lot of captures, make sure to get a decent storage card. I opted to use a 256 GB card, which seemed to go back about a week, given the placement of the cameras and lack of motion in those areas. We live in a rural area, and the camera’s are spaced around the property to allow capture of key areas, like the driveway and backyard. Viewing each camera in the Wyze app is just as easy as your other cameras, with quick connection, and high quality HD picture.
Overall, I’m really happy with the Wyze Gen 2 outdoor cameras. They’re a nice upgrade to my previous outdoor cameras, offer solid connectivity around the house with no drops or horrible pixelation, and the night color viewing is surprisingly clear. Set up only took a few minutes, and while you can sign up for the CamPlus subscription, they give you the option to use a microSD card in the hub to store local recordings. I’d highly recommend this for anyone with an existing Wyze camera setup, or those looking to add outdoor cameras to help keep an eye on your property.

Great Starter Camera System

These are the easiest cameras I have ever had the chance to set up. They have really video quality for such an inexpensive camera system. I don't think I've evn seen a HUB so small. It could literally be hidden in plain sight. Inside the box, you'll get 3 indoor/outdoor camers. three power charging cables and two two charging bricks. And finally, there's a seperate power source for the HUB. Every piece is has a micro SD card slot( The camers and the HUB). Each camera has a speaker and mic. allowing for direct communication between you and the delivery person or porch pirate.attempting to take your package. The motion sensors are very accurate.
Everything seems to be great form the box. You can mount the magnetic base with a single screw, but for more security, using both screws is recommended. The cameras can be mounted on the from the top or bottom of the camera. However there is only one divit on the bottom , that allows for a safer fit. But there is a way to mount the camera and change the angle wth-in the the needed Wyze app. The live feed is great . There is such a low latency in the feed , that it's literally like doing a facetime call. Now the problem here is, the features are all hidden behind a pay wall. The only way to access recorded video play from your camera, is t sign up for the Wyze survaillance plan. All you can recieve are still images without the plans. Even if yyou have micro SD cards in each camera. The smart features, such as rules are only truly usable with service. Not to sway anyone from getting this setup, as the service is pretty affordable. It's a simple yearly plan( that I recommend) or a monthly plan just in case you don't plan on having the full security of of 24/7 monitoring.
In the end, I'm just going to say that this is a great way to gain a secure feeling and protect your home and the possessions. It's not perfect, but it's more than worth it.

=== Summary ===
I’ve gone through a fair share of different security cameras (Samsung, Logitech, Arlo, Lorex, Ring), and I would rank the Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 somewhere in the middle. I like the Wyze Outdoor v2 for its simplicity of setup, intuitive and speedy mobile app, reliable connection, good 1080P daytime image quality with decent nighttime “color night vision”, option for local storage, and a free subscription option (Cam Plus Lite) that offers 14 days of Cloud storage. I don’t like, however, its often choppy video playback, limited 12-second recording time with a 5-minute cooldown time on the Cam Plus Lite plan, and dismal battery life that cannot really last for six months. For a 3-pack system, the value feels quite strong but I wouldn’t recommend the Outdoor v2 to friends and family due to some shortcomings. There are many better cameras out there.
=== Setup Process ===
I began the setup process using the Wyze app and it did an excellent job walking me through all the steps with wording and diagrams that are very clear and easy to follow. You first use an ethernet cable to connect the base station to your router and add it to your home network. Then you add each camera and sync it to the base station (the base station supports up to four cameras). Once the setup is complete, you may choose to unplug the ethernet cable from the base station and run it in Wi-Fi mode which is what I chose to do.
If you stop right here, then the cameras will only save a picture snapshot of motion events, which is not why one would buy a security camera system. To actually begin recording and saving motion videos, you will have to choose a subscription plan – the Cam Plus, the Cam Plus Pro, or the free Cam Plus Lite plan. I went with the free Cam Plus Lite and it offers motion and person detection recordings that are limited to 12 seconds in length with a 5-minute cooldown time. If all you want are brief videos to keep track of your pets or some activity on your front porch, the Cam Plus Lite will probably suffice. But if you need full-length footages with no cooldown, additional AI detection, and playback speed control, then you’ll have to buy at least the Cam Plus level.
=== Camera Performance ===
When it comes to daytime performance, the Outdoor v2 camera produced bright, clean, and crisp footages most of the time. Even though it’s only 1080P, the details are easy to see as long as your subject isn’t moving around too fast. Downloading the footage and looking at the file properties reveals one of the possible reasons why motion videos often play back choppy and kind of blurry – the video is recorded at 20FPS. If the camera could capture at least 30FPS, then I’m sure the videos would’ve looked a lot smoother. With that said, it’s not a huge deal-breaker as security cameras aren’t built like action cams that can capture at 60 to 120FPS.
For nighttime footages, the “Starlight Sensor” did a decent job capturing dark scenes with color and a satisfactory level of detail. At certain times, the color nighttime footage was better, whereas at other times, it was better to record nighttime footages with the Night Vision IR Lights option turned off in order to increase the motion detection range and for better detail in really dark settings. Whether you turn on or off the Night Vision IR Light setting should be determined by how much ambient lighting is near the camera – if you have a decent amount, then it should be turned on so you get color. If it’s super dark, then traditional black and white is probably better.
Inside the app, I turned on all phone notification options and they arrived quickly and reliably shortly after motion events. I like that the notification includes a picture snapshot of the event. Speaking of motion events, the sensor
I was disappointed by the volume level and audio quality of the two-way speakers. Not only was the volume relatively low compared to my other security cameras, the quality of the audio was kind of bad, sounding muffled and with echo most of the time. Unless the other party spoke slowly and loudly, I really had to strain to hear what they were saying. I still use older 1080P cameras that I purchased back in 2014 (Samsung) and 2017 (Logitech Circle 2, Arlo Pro 2), and they all sound better and are louder.
Another disappointment was the battery life or lack thereof. Wyze claims a battery life up to six months but even with the camera set to only save picture screenshots, it lasted only about 2 & ½ weeks before I got a low-battery alert. Talk about being way off the mark.
After about two weeks of usage, Wyze has failed to convince me to upgrade to its Cam Plus subscription plan which would unlock unlimited recording and more AI detection settings. I would rather spend more on subscription plans from its competitors such as Arlo.
=== Final Words ===
In the end, I cannot recommend the Wyze Cam Outdoor v2 system to friends and family. The performance and quality just aren’t there for the initial price of the system, and the recurring subscription premium, despite being affordable and highly competitive, cannot make up for the choppy videos and poor audio quality.

If you are looking for an affordable home/business monitoring solution - this Wyze v2 bundle might be just the thing for you! Including a Base Station (requiring wired internet) and 3 battery operated cameras, but can move them and place them in the best spots with ease.
Setup was breeze once you have a Wyze account, and these little cameras pack a ton of features. You should make a list of your needs and compare - as there are newer models with more features as well.
After charging the cameras fully, I deployed them to various locations - including switching WiFi networks - just to see if that was difficult. It wasn't - especially since the base station required wired internet - when switching networks you just need to change that and power off/on each camera.
I do like the color night vision - seems to work really well even when it is really dark. If you have an outside light that stays on - the color will work all the time (see picture). You can disable the IR lights if you prefer the color mode - otherwise in low light condition it will start with color then switch to black/white.
To record and save events to the cloud, you'll need to sign up for a subscription (common with many camera systems today). Each camera gets paid for individually - unless you want to just pay $99 for all your cameras.
Overall - I'm liking the portability of the bundle and ease of setup. This is a great place to start if you don't already have an investment in a particular system.

Not the Most Secure Cameras

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have tried a lot of outdoor cameras both wireless and wired and none of them are perfect however this Wyze bundle has some major shortcomings. The cameras have to connect via the Wyze wireless base station and having its wireless coexist with your home wireless network might be an issue. The small base station runs warm to hot which is concerning. The cameras are held in place by a magnet so the security cameras aren’t very secure because they can be easily removed. To get any video you need to purchase a subscription otherwise you only get a photo based on very basic motion detection.
To install the cameras you need to attach the Wyze base station to your router to get internet connectivity. Most people’s router already provides wireless connectivity so placing this new base station next your existing wireless router may be problematic. In setting mine up I had to power down my wireless router more than once to get it to play nicely with this new base station. According to the website you are supposed to be able to disconnect the cable between the base station and your home router once you have wi-fi set up between the base station and your home network but mine would never work like that – it had to be hard wired to my home router to work. I also noticed that the base station which is very small gets warm – almost hot and this is without using a SD memory card. Once the base station was operational I was able to pair all three cameras fairly easily. Next I mounted the camera mounts which have limited range of motion due to the way they are made. These mounts have the least amount of adjustability that I have ever seen in a security camera due to the fixed support arms in the base. With the mounts in place I placed the cameras on the mount. I have some concern over using only a magnetic base to hold a security camera. If you mount the camera to an overhang the magnetic connection is not even in a recessed area since the camera hangs from the top vs the bottom. Without any type of locking mechanism to the base these cameras could be easily knocked loose by a thief or even a rogue bird or squirrel.
The image quality is good and the zoom feature works nicely I set the cameras on Auto for image quality and the image appears quickly and in focus. Two of my cameras are external, one of the front of the house and one on the back. Both cameras are about 25 ft from the base station with a brick wall between them. According to the Wyze app I have a single bar signal strength but the response and image quality are as good as the internal camera that has three bars. The motion detection is good but its very basic unless you pay for a subscription. Also the detection notice is only a photo, there is no video unless you pay for a subscription. Most if not all security cameras push you into purchasing subscription services and the Wyze annual cost for three cameras is actually cheaper than most. According to the website you are supposed to be able to use SD cards in both the cameras and base station to record locally but I have had very limited luck to get this to work. Also I could not find any documentation on the Wyze website or manual that explains how the local storage works. Putting local storage in an outside camera that can be easily removed doesn’t make sense anyway. The Wyze app was easy to install on my iphone and it worked without issues. The app has lots of features that are only available if you purchase the subscription and it likes to remind you with ads to purchase a subscription. One thing that the app does excel in is the motion notifications and speed to view which are faster than many other wireless cameras I have used. If these cameras had a better method of securing themselves to the mounting bracket and were able to be connected directly to your home network they would be a great solution but as it stands today I am reluctant to recommend them for use as a security camera.

Good wireless security cameras!

I consider that for a set of 3 wireless security cameras the price is fair, however this is reflected in the quality and performance of this product. The cameras, base and accessories come in a small box that at first gives the impression of not having the 3 cameras inside, what happens is that they are compact in size, the cameras are small "cubes" that at least in my opinion look great. To start using the cameras, you need to download the Wyze app that guides you step by step during the installation and with which you have access and full control of the cameras.
Regarding the app performance I have been a little disappointed, first because the functions that most interest, like recording events, are only available by paying a subscription, which is not expensive to clarify, but if it is assumed that as a consumer looking to spend less, paying a monthly or annual subscription is not something that one considers when buying their own cameras and base, one of the reasons for this kind of security cameras, is that you do not need to pay a company to watch 24/7 of your home. The other issue with the app is that there are times when it becomes unresponsive and you have to close it and reopen it to get it to work. At the begining you need to update the base and the camera's firmware but when you do this the app does not report the progress and you may be waiting for a long time for it to update when in fact the update is already complete.
Personally I think the app needs to be improved because being a security camera system I don't want to miss all the notifications and be able to stream in real time in case there are unwanted guests outside my house.
In the image section meets outstandingly its purpose, the color image looks great despite being 1080p and night mode is great, the cameras do not take up much space and are easy to install, either on the same base or nailed to the wall with their respective screws. The base is attached to the camera with a strong magnet however it can be detach by hand. You can activate and deactivate some functions of the cameras while streaming in real time, however there is a blue light on the back that turns on every time the base communicates with the cameras and there is no way to deactivate it.
In conclusion I can say that although the app requires improvements and to unlock some important functions you have to pay, this 3-Camera Security Bundle seems an inexpensive option if you need a wireless surveillance system at home, the image quality is very good and the installation is easy.

The Wyze - Cam Outdoor v2 Wireless 3-Camera Security Bundle is a decent set up. Gives you the flexibility of a paid subscription or a near free service. The near free service is called Cam Plus Lite and it is a pay what you want type service. Which can be free if you make that decision or a pretty low cost for their suggested fee. You have to opt in for this service to allow your cameras to connect and to be up front, it's really difficult to know what value you are getting without the ability to try it first. So, the concept of pay what you want really doesn't work out in the companies favor unless people are willing to trust that the service is decent enough to pay a years' worth to save on cost. I opted to go with the Cam Plus plan after trying the Cam Plus Lite, and honestly, I don't know if I am gaining much more than the "free service", albeit the Cam Plus subscription price is as low as I have seen plus there are additional discounts if you sign up through the actual website versus the app itself. I think you unlock an additional 2 seconds on the recordings with the paid service along with some additional motion identification. For me, it's a toss-up. I could have gone either way and be satisfied with the recordings for my needs. The set up was kind of a pain for me. Instructions tell you to connect the base to your router with an Ethernet. I don’t know if the base has issues with Netgear Orbi mesh system. I connected it to my satellite as that was the only open Ethernet port I had available. Took a number of tries but finally got it to connect. Once I got all three cameras connected to the base unit, I had to update the firmware which I believe somehow messed up my Wi-Fi satellite station’s connectivity and as I would completely lose internet from that satellite requiring resetting up. Could be a coincidence but it killed my internet twice during Wyze base station firmware update. I am hoping I will no longer have this issue as once you are set up, you can disconnect the base station from the router. I believe you may also be able to do a true wireless setup but that is not how the app instructs you. Only after a failed set up it gives you the option to set up manually. I am somewhat tech savvy so not a huge issue for me, but could be frustrating for others. You are able to save footage locally onto the base station as well as each camera has a micro as slot. The range of the camera to the base station is decent, depending on number of walls you have to go through. Manual says up to 300 ft, but chances are it won’t be near that. I have a good line of sight tin one camera about 100 ft away. Only blockage is a window so that camera has the best signal. The other two are shorter in distance but has at least three walls. I had to play around with the location of the base station to get optimal signal for all three camera locations. The picture quality is acceptable and you can pinch zoom on your recordings. I don’t know if you can definitively identify someone that you don’t recognize unless your camera placement is a bit lower and is closer to the subject. So if you need to capture facial features, you probably can’t place you camera too high. I have one at roughly 10 ft high and the clarity of the footage isn’t the best. Good enough if you recognize someone, but to determine who stole something from your property may be difficult. To be totally transparent, I have only played with the different settings a little bit over the last few days. I set my definition to auto, but not sure if the footage can get any better from the current height and distance of what I am monitoring. Battery life seems good. Manual says about 6 months. All that is going to depend on how high traffic the area is going to be. The camera I have set on my driveway goes down about 1-2% a day, so that should be about two months. The other two cameras with low traffic has dropped only 1%, so theoretically the battery can last more than a few months, but realistically probably a month or two. All in all, there is some pros and cons to this set up. For me, the pros out weighs the cons and does what I need.

Great value and ease of use with these cameras, super easy to install and set up on the app on the phone. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a home security camera. They are battery powered and charge with a wall cord makes it way easier than having to hard wire them in. And the mounts install with 2 screws! Very clear picture on the video or stills. These are the worst outdoor security camera's you could ever buy. Out of three cameras I lost one in less than a year, actually 1 day before warranty ran out. I called complained to no avail. I cancelled my subscription the next day which basically rendered them useless other than a blurry screenshot. The don't work half the time so they are very unreliable. They continuously go off no matter how you adjust them and continuously run down the batteries since the solar panels are just as worthless. I sent multiple complaints to Wyze with no response. Do your self a favor and run from anything Wyze markets like they have the plague. No support what so ever.

Camera has integrated PIR motion detection. This is why battery life can be long. The idle power use is just doing PIR detection. The more activity, the shorter battery life, of course. If you need to capture more than occasional motion, you will need to power these all the time. The app only lets you see live video on one camera at a time.
I would only recommend this on battery for places with very little activity to capture.

Have these setup to monitor our home overseas. Works great, provides a clear video feedback, you can even speak through the camera’s speakers! Controlling the camera remotely from the app is cool, a solid security system!
