I've tried out a lot of cameras for my home looking for that perfect system that "just works" for my needs. This one still isn't it but it's closer than most and one of the cheaper options too.
Setup is fairly straight forward. Plug in the base station to ethernet and power and the app will walk you through the setup entirely. The lengthiest part of the whole process is updating the firmware but even that's fairly quick compared to others. All in, I had all 3 cameras set up and updated and ready to go in maybe 20 minutes. Two of the cameras came around 50% charged while one of them was completely dead so I let them all charge up to 100% which took the night.
I've used battery powered cameras before but usually just left them connected to power at all times. These are definitely meant to be used as completely wireless. They're pretty hefty feeling from what I assume is mostly battery. A couple days of usage has only depleted the battery a few percent even after adjusting the clip recording time and cooldown time and having them in fairly high traffic areas. You aren't able to keep these plugged in outdoors as the charging port is not sealed while charging. So you'll have to be fine with bringing the camera back inside for a while to charge when they're close to dying. If you're using them indoors, you should be fine keeping them plugged in at all times.
The mount for these cameras is pretty nice. I think it's a similar mount on all of the wyze cameras but these are my first so I'm not 100% sure. They are magnetic which lets them stick to the bottom or top of the camera (in case you want to mount on the ceiling and hang the camera down). You can then extend and angle and rotate fairly freely to get the angle you want. The mount is stiff so I'm pretty confident it'll stay where you put it but given only a couple days to test I'm not sure if they'll loosen up at all.
These are 1080p cameras so quality is pretty much what you'd expect out of some cheap but decent 1080p cameras. Quality is fine but you aren't going to get the crispness of a 4K stream or anything. Settings for the cameras are pretty basic but should cover most of your needs. You can record standard motion clips for a maximum of 12 seconds with a 5 minute cooldown right out of the box. If you want more features and customization with your recordings you'll need to subscribe to at least their Cam Plus plan. It's not incredibly expensive to cover all 3 cameras but something to consider if you're going to use the camera in an area where a lot of pixels are going to change. If you don't, you'll just be flooded with 12s motion clips and I'm guessing it won't be super easy to find what you're looking for. With Cam Plus, they let you eliminate the cooldown (or change it to a shorter time) as well as increase the recording time all the way to 5 minutes. Better yet, you can use their AI detection settings for finding humans, pets, packages or cars. The app even lets you receive notifications from the AI events separately from the standard motion events so you can see when most important things happen but you won't be notified every time a motion only event happens.
Home integration is pretty minimal. I was only able to find Amazon Alexa support in the app officially. But I was able to find a docker package that spins up a very customizable proxy for your cameras which gives you rtsp streams and a web frontend. If you're feeling more adventurous, there's instructions on the same package that should get all of your Wyze cameras running with HomeKit Secure Video. None of this is officially supported and you'll need to do a lot of work to get it to work but it's nice to know that it's even possible at least.
Overall, these cameras are easy enough and the AI seems good enough to do a good enough job inside and outside my home. Cam Plus is inexpensive enough that I may stick with this for a while but I'll also probably try and get the whole system working with HomeKit Secure Video which is what I want for my whole home's camera system. If you're looking for a camera system that "just works" out of the box but also has the potential to tweak and poke into submission to do more unofficial stuff, this might be the system for you.

Very Nice Wireless Camera System

The Wyze Cam Outdoor starter bundle is a nice little security camera system that is very simple to setup and works really well. This is an almost completely wire free system with 3 cameras and a base station. The base station of course needs to be plugged in for power, and works best when also wired directly into your modem or router, but can also work over wifi. Aside from that, the camera's themselves can be mounted completely wirelessly and work off of battery power. They claim up to 6 months of battery, but this largely depends on how much activity the cameras record and how often they are actually on. Something to keep in mind when choosing where to mount them. Speaking of, mounting and setup is all relatively simple. Each camera has a couple of mounting holes on the back, so really it's not more complicated than hanging a picture or something in your home. And the camera's themselves are quite small, no bigger than a baseball. Setup in the app is very simple. You really just download the app and follow the prompts on-screen. You'll be up and running in no time. The app is also quite robust. You can view a live feed, view recordings, save recordings, and mark out zones to ignore/trigger recordings. It gives you quite a bit of control. The only real drawbacks to this system that I have found aren't really specific to the system, but more of a drawback to wireless cloud-based systems in general. First, I don't like to have to worry about charging my cameras, and I like to just record 24-7. You can't really do that with wireless cameras unless you plan on charging everyday. Second, I don't prefer cloud based systems because you typically have less control/ownership over your own footage. With these cameras, they actually feature on-board sd card slots to save the footage locally. So that is a big plus. It's only slightly less convenient than a wired system that records to a dvr, but it's at least a step up from most cloud systems. Overall, I am just very happy with this system, and would gladly recommend if you are looking for a convenient, simple wireless camera system.

Colored night vision is cool!

Overall, I think these cameras are good. I thought they were going to be another set of cameras with night vision, but, to state the obvious after seeing the box, the night vision feature is colored! Not just that, but the box includes 3 cameras so that’s a plus.
Right when you open it, you see the mounts and its other parts. I like how the mounts and the cameras are magnetic, and they’re strong ones as well. Let’s just say you won’t need to worry if the magnets will hold. Setting up the base was easy. Just download the app, plug in the base, and just allow it to connect to the network. It’s that easy! Once the cameras were all charged, I, pretty much, just added them all on the app, and they were all ready to use. One great thing about the app is that it allows you to update the firmware on all of the cameras at once, instead of individually. It saved me a lot of time from having to wait until one camera was charged and updated before moving on to the next one.
As far as quality is concerned, it’s no 4K feed, but it does the job well. I can’t get over the fact that the night vision is colored. It’s strange to be able to see my backyard on my phone when I can barely see outside at around 10pm. I moved the cameras around while they were on, and the feed was pretty smooth considering they’re cameras and not televisions.
Again, overall, these cameras are good. I think they’re worth purchasing. Don’t get them if you think you want 4K live feed. However, do get it if you want to see colors on your night feed. I’m glad I have it!

Nice set of budget cameras with no monthly fee!

no monthly fees this might be just what you are looking for! Wyze has been the leader for years in the budget security camera market. They have pretty much been #1 and with good reason. They offer quality products, with no required monthly fee (although there is a paid subscription if you choose to use it)
Out of the box, it is what you expect from Wyze. Pretty much all plastic construction. But it’s a thick plastic and doesn’t feel very cheap.
Installing the camera was about as easy as it can be. You can literally just set it on a table if you want and not mount it anywhere. But you can also easily mount it pretty much anywhere with just a couple screws. These are battery operated cameras, so you don’t have to worry about running any wires anywhere. You will just need to be able to have access to the cameras to recharge them every once in a while. On previous Wyze cameras I have had, I pretty much was charging them every 2-3 months or so. But that will depend on how much traffic you have and how much recording they do.
Getting it hooked up to the app was very easy. You go into the app, select add a new device, enter the type of device, it searches for the device, you enter your wifi network and that’s it. It sets it all up for you. Then you are pretty much good to go! You will be able to see live video through the cameras and also hear the audio.
I have found that if you get too far away from the base station these cameras have lots of connection issues. I tried putting this way out in my backyard to watch a shed I have back there and they were constantly losing connection (even though my phone could connect to the wifi). So, if you want to monitor something that’s pretty far away, these might not work for you. IF you will be keeping these around the perimeter of your house, they should be OK.
There are tons of customization settings in the app so you can get the camera working exactly the way you want it to. You can set up different zones so you only get notifications from a certain area of your property. You can customize the actual notifications. When viewing live video, you can turn on or off the audio well as use the 2-way audio feature so you can talk to and hear whoever is at your camera
With the basic Wyze Cam Plus Lite service you get 12-second Event recordings and Wyze Person Detection at whatever price you choose, including $0. Cam Plus Lite gives you Wyze Person Detection and 12-second Event videos as often as every 5 minutes, saved in the cloud for 14 days. It will allow you to receive and filter motion Event videos with people in them to make sure the notifications you get are meaningful. You can also choose the regular Cam Plus subscription which will cost $1.25 a month. Which is still pretty cheap compared to the other main players in the market. Another cool thing about these cameras is they each have a MicroSD card slot so you can add your own storage to give you even more room to store videos!
The video quality I find to be acceptable. These are not 4k cameras, but the video quality is good, and useable. You will get a very clear picture in the daytime and easily be able to pick out faces. The night time video is good. If you have these indoors you will easily be able to see your surroundings and should be able to pick out faces. Outdoors is not as good simply because the IR LEDs
Don’t have walls to bounce off of. So, unless you are within about 10-20 feet of the camera you might have a problem seeing a face. But you will still get a notification that someone is on your property even if you can’t exactly make out who or what it is.
I found the app to work pretty well, there were a few little bugs and hiccups here and there, but Wyze is constantly taking user feedback and updating the app and adding new features, or improving existing features. These will also work great with google Home or Alexa to show your camera feeds on your smart display. It takes a few seconds to pop up the video, but I found it works pretty well.
Overall, if you want to get some security cameras around your house but don’t want to spend a fortune or have a monthly fee, you won’t go wrong with Wyze!

Quick setup handy cameras

The Wyze Outdoor camera bundle is a cool, useful addition to any home security. Its full wireless cameras provide a great picture and video, and long lasting rechargeable batteries mean less downtime with camera coverage, especially if paired with the Wyze solar panels.
Out of the box, it is quite an easy setup. There is a base station that needs to be plugged into a wall outlet, and also plugged into your modem/router, so it needs to be positioned nearby to that. You download the Wyze app and setup a new device. It will find the base station on your network and link up all of the camera's that you have set up. It is a 3 camera bundle so it gives plenty of coverage around the house. From there in the app, you can then view each camera's video feed or access its recorded footage. The camera bundle on the Wyze app does have a subscription service for extra features, but does come with basic recording a storage.
Setting up the camera's is easy, and kind of innovative the way they designed the mounts into the camera. The bottom pulls out and swivels to give 360 mounting options. The base is also magnetic so it can stick to flat metal surfaces with out being anchored down with screws. The base plates also have spots to mount with screws so you have both options. The camera's have on and off switches hidden under weather seals, has a place for a mini sd card (which are not included), and a charging port. I would get some sd cards for the cameras if you are not able to set up cloud storage.
The video quality for these cameras are pretty good. You can make out good detail from a fairly decent distance. The motion activation does a good job detecting and picking up those movements. The color night vision really didn't grab my attention, due to the fact that it is all based on where you mount the camera, area lighting around the camera and how dark it is any distance from the camera as well. Audio capture is pretty good, though understanding some conversation was a bit difficult and hard to hear, again depending how far away the noise is from the camera.
Overall, these cameras are very easy to set up and get using in very little time with the wyze app. It offers quick video security and peace of mind when away from home.

Great camera with poor range

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
So I really wanted to like and use the camera but the base has such a limited range that I have to pick a zone to monitor and forget about the other two. The distance between zones is barely 100 feet (front and back of the house) and the base is placed in dead center of two zones and 35 feet from zone 3. The signal is so weak that it's useless or non-existent. Seems relying on a base is a poor way of managing the cameras. Plus with the extra radio noise doesn't help when it could have just hopped on the existing spectrum by allowing standard wifi connection. My mesh covers my entire house and 1 acre of land, so if it had the ability to ride the wifi signal instead of their proprietary 2.4ghz signal I'd be in good shape.
Another issue is one reason to get it was the continuous recording that BB has in the specs. This unit will NOT do continuous recording. It'll do scheduled and that's it. I was skeptical about a battery operated device allowing continuous recording, but they listed it as a feature and failed on delivering.
Right now my outdoor cams are only useful indoors, which means not very useful at all to for me. It's sad because the clarity is there, the low light capture is fantastic, and the ability to record alerts locally are all amazing features.
If you house is smaller then you'd probably get some use from this, but I think it's going into my pile of unused tech unless I buy another base and add more unneeded wireless noise.

Poor Customer Service, Okay Cameras

Poor customer service...I did the free trial for the subscription and they charged me immediately. I wrote customer service and they would only tell me how to cancel the subscription, rather than giving me a trial. You need a subscription to unlock features of the camera. Motion detection was not great. Non removable batteries. The last straw was that one camera drained much faster than the others. Given the poor customer service, I figured having that problem fixed would not go well. So I returned the cameras.

Decent DIY Monitoring System w/o Need for a Sub

I own these and a pair of Wyze doorbells. In terms of hardware setup, Wyze's mobile app does a job job of stepping you through the installation processes. However, the challenge comes in using the devices themselves as I found myself deeply studying each device's app to understand the operation and function of each type. If I couldn't find an answer on Google, I would contact their support. And when it came to their tech support I found them to be very responsive and helpful. Overall I'm pretty happy with purchases, even though I felt that there was a learning curve in learning how best to use these devices.

Good for a couple of months but since then every single day I have to power cycle, shut down, delete and re-install or some manner of fixing on at least one and sometimes all four of my Wyze wireless outdoor cams. Very unreliable when you need them not to be. One is only 10 feet from the base station and sometimes will not connect. I do not have this problem with any other wireless tech that I own.

Hi there, we are very sorry to hear you are experiencing some connectivity trouble and would like to help. The max range between the camera and Base Station varies, but in an open, clear field, they can be up to 300 feet apart. If you have multiple walls, doors, and other structures between each device, then that optimal range will be smaller. We would recommend taking a look at this article for some tips:
