I am new to the Wyze brand. I have heard of them many times but have never actually owned any of their products until now, I am impressed. I really like the look and feel of the camera itself. It feels well built and has a good quality to it. Most cameras at this price point feel cheaply made and whatnot. The base station is also well made. Setup was fairly simple. I plug in the base station and mounted the camera on the side of my shed. It was so easy to do. Once I got the cloud plan setup and activated, everything worked like a charm. I like the options for the cloud plans but I do wish there was a local storage option like an sd card or something built into the camera or base station. The picture quality is very good. It shows details of every little thing well. Good colors and lighting. The night vision works like a charm too. I like the motion detection however it could do better at identifying people as it sends me a notification when there are animals like racoons and ground hogs running around. Other than that I am happy with this setup.

I purchased the Wyze Outdoor v2 with solar charger in November of 22. It worked okay for six months and then it stopped charging. Charge shows 0%. Attempted to charge using included base station and cable as well as other cables. Did all the usual troubleshooting. I wouldn't recommend this product. The cheaper price is NOT worth it.

The Wyze Cam Outdoor Starter Bundle is so easy to use. Simply unpack the box, download the app, update the firmware, and charge the camera using the enclosed USB cord, plugged into the base. Once fully charged it's ready to go. It boasts incredible battery life and after 4 days, I'm still at about 90% charge. The camera easily removes from the base for recharging. They advertise up to 6-months battery life on a single charge! Mine is set up to monitor my garage door about 75 feet from the base, and still communicates well. It's motion triggered and provides a crystal clear color image - even at night. It's weather resistant (IP65) so it can be used indoors or out. The small, compact design is stylish and small enough to blend into its surroundings. It can be mounted on walls or ceilings and should be removed/rotated from the base so that the lens is always at the top. It works with both Alexa and Google making it that much more practical. Since the starter bundle includes the base, you can combine it with additional cameras, or other products such as the Wyze Lamp Socket (not included). By combining the two, you can turn a light (like a porch light) into a motion-activated light that also powers your camera. The Basic plan is free for all devices, but for only $1.99/month ($15.00/annual) you can get unlimited video length along with several other features. This is my first Wyze product and I'm sure it won't be my last. Everything about it is great from the solid-feeling construction, the simple design, and the crisp, clear 1080p picture. And all at a great price that won't break the bank!

The Wyze Cam Outdoor is a compact, wireless camera that’s easy to install, features great image quality, and very long battery life. The camera was easy to set up, with a helpful quick start guide, and a app that walks you through all of the steps. I do think it’s important to note two things, however: First, the base station MUST be connected to your router/home network via Ethernet cable during setup. Once you’re up and running, you can disconnect the cable and use Wi-Fi, but unlike many other devices, you need to do the configuration steps while hard-wired in. Second, the camera mount uses a common approach, with keyhole-shaped cutouts that fit over a screw head and slide into place. Unfortunately, those cutouts are so small that only the included screws work. I tried to use a slightly larger screw to get a more secure fit but couldn’t get the screw heads to fit. These weren’t exactly dealbreakers, just minor frustrations. Once installed, I was able to get clear, colorful image quality from the Wyze app right away, and the night vision mode was impressive. The camera also features two-way audio and a siren that can be activated from the app. There are a variety of could-based recording options (at various price points), and both the camera and the base station have SD card slots for local recording. I’ve had my camera up and running for about a week, and the battery life is still holding strong in the low 90% range. I won’t know for several weeks whether it lives up to the advertised “two month” battery life, but it seems about right so far. One other minor complaint is that the camera uses Micro USB for charging. It’s not that big of a deal, but these days most of my other devices have moved to USB-C, so I’ll need to keep at least one of the older cables around to charge. Overall, this Wyze Cam Outdoor kit seems like a great way to get started with security cameras. And, since the base station can support up to four cameras, expanding the system should be pretty easy. There are a few things I would have maybe improved upon, but none of them keep me from using this product, easily, and as advertised.

The Wyze Cam outdoor starter bundle is a great cost effective intro into home security cameras if you are not already invested in a different system already. Unpacking the camera from the box you will find camera, the base station, power adapter for the base station, a micro usb cable to charge the camera and an ethernet cable. Wyze does also include some screws to help mount your camera if you choose to do so. One thing that surprised me the most when unboxing the camera is the fact that Wyze decided to go with a micro USB port to charge the camera instead of a USB C port. I'm sure they did it to keep cost down as much as possible but honestly how much could a USB C port really affect Wyze's bottom line. Initial set up was fairly easy via the Wyze app on my phone. If you already don't have Wyze products then you are required to set up an account. Once you have either signed in or signed up then you simply add the base station by pressing the plus icon on the app. Once thing that was a little tedious is that you must plug base station into your router for initial setup which is annoying if your router is located in a remote area. Once set up you can switch to wifi. Once the base station is added and the camera is synced you can place it wherever you would like. In my case I placed the camera in my backyard since my lot backs up to the main road. One great thing about the camera is if you don't choose to subscribe to a cloud plan then you can record locally to a micro usb card. For the price the resolution of the camera is fairly nice and the color night vision is nice. For basic security needs you can't go wrong with the Wyze cam outdoor cam. Battery life is rated at 6 months however this will vary based on how many motion alerts occur. Based on my usage I think I should be able to squeeze 4 months out of my camera but time will tell. I am interested to see how this camera holds up to the heat and sun on a daily basis because many outdoor products have failed in the past due to the sunlight however time will tell and I hope to update the review in 6 months

Quality recording for a reasonable price

This camera was the first I’ve used from this brand and I wasn’t sure how well I would like it in comparison to some of the other brands I have. My goal has always been to have cameras that are reasonably priced, quality recording and a reasonable price for cloud storage. This one gets two out of three. The camera itself is very reasonably priced and wouldn’t cost a small fortune to purchase enough of these to cover the interior and exterior of your home. That is a huge plus in my opinion. The quality of the recording is sufficient to satisfy my needs. I have it installed in my garage to cover the door entering into the house. The garage is generally dark until we enter it for whatever reason and it does a good job of recording. The motion sensor works great at identifying bodies walking within the camera area. The only complaint I can make about this is while it identifies people and vehicles well, it labelled my three year old as a pet. I thought it was pretty funny, but he did not. LOL. So far the battery life has been pretty impressive. I installed this thing about a week ago after fully charging it and it's only at 93% as of the time of this writing. I like how the event recordings are broken down in the app by one hour increments. So everything from 11am -12pm is under one heading, everything from 2pm – 3pm is under another. That makes it much easier to determine what items you are looking for. The interface is simple to use and is pretty informational. My biggest complaint is the cost of the service. If you only plan on having a couple of cameras, then the cost isnt too bad, but I have several cameras, a doorbell and floodlight and thinking of adding more. The other brands i use offer a multi-camera discount or something similar to reduce the annual cost. I didnt see anything on Wyze's website that gave me that option. In fairness, they do offer the ability to use a microSD card to store your videos, but I didnt test that out. I cant imagine that would be easier to use compared to the cloud. Other than that, I think this is a quality product.

Compact wireless security cam and base station

I like having cameras around my house, partially for home security and also because we live in an area with lots of wildlife. I have captured deer, bobcats, raccoons, bears and mountain lion on security cams and trail cams on our property. I got these Wyze outdoor cams mainly because they are wireless, small and easily placed or mounted. You can have four cams per base station. The starter bundle comes with one base station and one cam. I've seen in stores where they sell packages of extra cams, as well as online. The system is easily set up. First charge the camera with the included USB cable. Then connect the base station to your router via ethernet cable (included) and then set up the camera where you want it. Once the camera and base station are talking to each other, you can view the camera on your phone or tablet via the Wyze app. After setting it up, I got several texts alerting me to activity on the camera (usually one of my cats). The text also includes a picture of whatever activity is captured. When you're in the Wyze app, you can record and/or take pictures of whatever is in the camera's field of view. You can also listen to sounds and speak via the camera's microphone/speaker, in case you want to speak to someone outside the house. For storage, there are MicroSD slots on the camera and base station (you must purchase any storage cards separately). You can also subscribe to Wyze's cloud storage for a fee. I'll probably be purchasing some extra cameras at some point, so I can put them in different areas of my property, as long as they are within range of the base station. Overall, the camera works well, has a good picture during daytime and with night vision.

Hi there, we are very sorry to hear you are experiencing some connectivity trouble and would like to help. The max range between the camera and Base Station varies, but in an open, clear field, they can be up to 300 feet apart. If you have multiple walls, doors, and other structures between each device, then that optimal range will be smaller. We would recommend taking a look at this article for some tips:

Wireless and Weatherproof 1080p Outdoor Camera

This camera is well constructed and has good protection of the power button and charging port if you do decide to expose it to the elements on a permanent basis. First, I would like to point out that the packaging was well done, protects the contents and the device does not move around at all within it. Once open, you will see the “Wyze” base station that will need to be plugged in both for power and into your router to provide a signal to the camera. The camera itself, which has a good weight to it, is solid and well-constructed. It sits on a magnetic base that allows it to swivel a bit when getting it setup and into position. Also in the box was a USB charging cable for the camera, the power adapter for the base an RJ45 network cable and mounting screws if you want to secure the camera to a wall or ceiling, etc. Setup was easy. I first charged the camera to ensure a full battery which only took about 30 minutes. While charging I downloaded the Wyze app to my phone so I was ready to do the setup. It went quickly and the app walked me through each step quickly. I turned the camera on and was able to pair it to the app and base easily. One item I will note is that I discovered that each base station will support up to four cameras so that’s good news if you need to add more coverage. You have a couple of options for capturing video; you can pay for the service you deem appropriate which is affordable, there is even a name your price option that allows for short 12 second clips to be stored in the cloud. Other slightly more costly options enable additional features such as AI that helps tell the difference between people, cars, and other things that crosses its path. You can also add your own MicroSD card to expand your local storage and have it do continuous recording with a first in, first out method as the card fills up. A word of caution here is that the battery will not last as long as if it were recording on an as needed basis. Regarding it being weather proof, I live in the Chicagoland area so it will be a true test as we head into the winter months. The video is very crisp and clear and it’s really nice that it has color capability at night, this is not typical for most products like this so it is a solid feature. You can zoom in as well as set your activity areas. There are a few other settings you can adjust to make this camera an effective solution for your home or business. So far, I am pleased with this camera and may add another one or two to help increase our coverage. I recommend it as an affordable option for security and peace of mind.

This is a good and basic product that has its shortcomings but provides enough value at this price-point. The biggest gripe would be a reliance on its subscription service that kind of takes away from the value factor. It is, I believe, a yearly subscription at 20 bucks a year and while it is not huge it is still not needed if one hunts for competitors in this space. The set up process is easy overall but I was disappointed with the base set-up that requires a direct connection with a cable to your router. I think that they need to make this more seamless. Battery life is supposedly for 6 months but I have used it only for a week and hence cannot comment on that. It should last for sometime as we put it in an area that does not get too much traffic. The video has lag but not too much of it. Resolution is fine during daytime at 1080P but maybe a bit back-dated, but then again you are not paying too much for this model. Also, the night vision works fine but do not expect too much of color if there are no artificial lights around the camera. It is IP65 and with winter weather and snow incoming, it remains to be seen how it fairs against everything. I would like to recommend it but I am very unsure. If budget is your concern then this might be a good buy, otherwise there are other similar products that might be better, and some that are not too pricey.

The Wyze - Cam Outdoor v2 Starter Bundle is great for just about any home, but even better if you live in an apartment. With no need for wires, there is no need for drilling holes throughout your walls. Which is why it is perfect for an apartment. To start with what I love most about this setup, I would say that one of the best features is the really compact base station. Unlike another more expensive brand, which has huge base stations, this one is compact and has dual antennas. AND, you can easily mount the base station right on your wall, which is not possible with another brand that is out there. There is a micro sd slot on the base station for local video storage, which is great and doesn't require any subscriptions. The camera is completely wireless, and you have the option to purchase a Wyze solar panel to keep the camera charged. Once fully charged, you can mount the camera on your wall and be up and running in no-time. The camera itself is small and looks pretty nice. The only downside to it is that I was afraid to extend the camera, as pictured in the box, because it feels like it's going to brake. I have tried pulling on it from just about every angle, but I am afraid to break it. Overall, it is a great start to keeping your home, and family, safe. I would definitely recommend the Wyze - Cam Outdoor v2 Starter Bundle to anyone.

    A Decent Outdoor Camera

I have used Wyze products for years now, mainly their indoor products like indoor camera's and their scale. I recently had a new air conditioner installed, but it is on shared land, so I needed something to keep an eye on it to make sure no one tampers with it or steals any copper from it. Mounting the camera to my patio was a breeze, two screws and the magnet just grabs onto the camera and you can position it any way you like. I was worried about the magnet not being strong enough, but I have the camera suspended 10 feet in the air pointed straight down and the wind has not knocked it off yet! Now for the bad.... getting the camera to connect was a nightmare initially. Firmware update after firmware update was needed, once I installed 3 firmware updates on the base AND camera, finally everything worked as intended. The night vision is really hit or miss, I had it initially in my garage, but the slightest sliver of light from outside that would creep through the door would mess up the night vision IR on this camera which was frustrating. Having it outdoors is a little better, but they need to improve the IR. Also the motion detection is hit or miss. I have spent an hour playing with the settings and still, sometimes a leave blows and it thinks its a person! Also, I absolutely hate how Wyze transitioned to that cam lite plus model. I want a camera that lets ME control the recordings, I could care less about cloud recordings and all that crap. I want to put my micro SD card in the camera and let it rip, why can't we have nice things like this anymore? Why does everything have to be connected to the cloud? I don't care, I love my original indoor Wyze camera for that, I was able to put a SD card in it, and have it continuously record. Let me do that with this!!!
