The Wyze Cam V3 Garage Door Opener is actually two products bundled into one package. You get a Wyze Cam V3 camera, which you can purchase now as a standalone product, and a Garage Door Controller, also purchasable as a standalone product if you already have an existing Wyze Cam you can use. In order for the garage functionality to be fully operational, you’ll need both. This package deal is absolutely affordable and I think you can’t go wrong with this solution. The connectivity of the Garage Door Controller is quite simple. The controller connects to your main garage door motor just like your wired garage door button, and just like you pushing the button to open and close the garage door, the Wyze Garage Door Controller triggers the same action to perform the same result. It’s quite simple. What the Controller doesn’t know is if the garage door is opened or closed, and that’s where the Wyze Cam V3 comes in. The Cam V3 is to be installed and pointed right at your garage door from the inside; at the bare minimum, you’ll be able to see if the garage door is opened or closed from within the Wyze App. But who’s going to be staring and checking this all the time? Shouldn’t the Cam V3 tell you if it’s opened or closed? Sadly, it’s not that smart, yet, but Wyze has provided a simple solution to determine if the garage is opened or closed. In the package, you’ll be provided a rather large QR code that will be affixed to the inner part of your garage door. The idea is if the Cam V3 can see the QR code, then the garage is closed; if not in view, then the garage is open. This is of significance because if you do forget to close your garage door, the Wyze App will tell you rather than you finding out hours later because you decided to randomly check the Wyze App for any updates. That's all there is to it, folks. The Wyze App will guide you through setup and there are a few cables to mess with, but what's most important is that (1) you determine if your garage door motor is compatible with the Wyze Garage Door Controller and (2) you have an additional 115v/120v outlet nearby. You can find out if your unit is compatible by visiting the Wyze website. Setup took me about 10 minutes tops, and this included cleaning up the excess wires from drooping down. There's also a calibration step where the V3 will determine if it can clearly see the QR code, which is important. When in the app, you'll be able to see your Wyze Cam V3 garage view and a smaller button that allows you to remotely trigger the open/close action. What's super neat is that if you do this action, the Wyze Controller will flash and emit a ring to signal to anyone near the garage that it is about to open or close. This gives folks fair warning to stand away from the door. The one issue I found while doing calibration was the visibility of the QR code. Most of our garage doors have a section of windows that let natural light in. But what happens is this natural light saturates the Cam V3 sensor and makes it more difficult for it to see the QR code. Think like if someone was shining a flashlight right into your eye, and that's what the Cam V3 is experiencing. My workaround for this is to always have the Cam V3 in night vision mode as this helps eliminate the glare altogether when the camera is viewing in the infrared spectrum. It's been about a week now and I have had no problems operating the Wyze Cam V3 Garage Door Opener. I'm also super impressed with the Wyze App overall and with the great affordability of the cameras. As far as the large QR code label is concerned, if you’re concerned with the aesthetics of your garage space, then the QR code could potentially be an eyesore. But hey, it certainly didn’t bother me, especially with the new found functionality you gain from this. I would highly recommend giving this a try.

Camera connection in HomeKit through rtsp is pretty reasonable, firmware flash was probably the most difficult task in the setup. still trying to see if I can connect the garage controller using a combination of scrypted and home assistant, no lunch yet

If you don't get the premium subscription to all of their cameras, you will get spammed in the app constantly. Cameras do not allow any AI alerting if you are not subscribing. I am getting rid of all my Wyze cams. Not working still with HomeKit, which Wyze said it was working on 3 years ago. If you are already paying for the subscription and you don't mind it, this combo is good for you. It uses a sticker on the inside of the door that the camera sees. When it is in the right spot, it knows that the door is closed and it is very accurate.

I recently moved to a new home and my garage control remote is old and the keypad outside did not work, and I am super happy that I gave this product a try because it has exceeded my expectations all around. I had never heard of this company so I was a bit skeptical on how this product would do. First, the box presentation was great and the instructions were easy to follow. The installation process took no more than 10 minutes, and I honestly was surprised on how easy it was. I wish I would of gotten something like this for my other place! Second, after installing the camera, you have to calibrate it and this is not complicated thanks to a video I found online which provided step by step instructions. In less than ten minutes, I was opening and closing my garage with my phone! I love that I can open my garage just as I am turning in to my home because it's just convenient. Finally, the camera is a plus! I would be extremely happy if this product was just a remote garage controller since there isn't a lot of action that is happening in my garage, but honestly having a camera just makes it that much better and you have some security in the event that someone breaks or you forget to close the garage. I have had this for about 2 weeks now, and my only regret is not having one sooner! Super happy and highly recommend this!

This is one of the cleverest IOT devices that I've ever seen. It's also inexpensive. I used to use a magnetic contact sensor and a powered toggle switch to control the garage door, but it never worked quite right. The fact that I can see the garage door with the Wyse V3 camera is a real plus. First, I have to rave a bit about the packaging. When I first saw the package, I was dubious that it would work. It was just so small! The packaging was done by a master - there's absolutely no wasted space. Anyhow, the whole idea behind this device is that the camera (included) looks for a QR code target (included) which is, in turn, attached to the garage door. The control box (which also strobes when the door is moving) connects to the camera and to the actual garage door switch. Everything is mounted using adhesives. It's a 10 minute setup (though you do have to be sure that your garage door opener is compatible). The app is quite reasonable and has useful features like letting you know when the door was opened and closed. You can even set a schedule so that the door is closed every night at 8 o'clock, etc. Bottom line, it's easy to set up, works better than my sensor-based solution ever did, and it's not expensive. Bonus: you get a garage camera.

Worked for me with a workaround

I had a Meross opener system I attached to my Chamberlain Wi-Fi garage door so I could have some Alexa integration. I really liked the idea of opening and closing the garage door with my voice like I control so many other things in my house. Their system wouldn't work with my garage door though, until they sent me a special garage door opener button to hook up to my system. It didn't have to REPLACE my garage door opener (an advanced one with an LCD screen and everything) but just be there in addition to it, since simply shorting out the wires didn't do anything for my opener. So it turns out, this would NOT have worked with my garage door opener on its own. I would've had the same issue. But since I had that other garage door button wired up to the support angle irons that my opener is mounted to, I thought I'd give this a try wiring it in the same way. So for me, this was simply undoing two wire nuts that went to the Meross system from my garage door button up there, and attaching them instead to the wires that came from this unit. And it worked. Even though my opener couldn't be shorted as the test to determine compatibility (since I have the newer yellow learning button, only other way to see if it's compatible was to short out those two wires). I was able to pull out the door sensor the other system used as well, so less wires running across the ceiling in my garage. I like the simplicity of having the QR code sticker on the garage door. And the magnetic mount that the Wyze cameras use works great with the opener's metal shell. I've been using Wyze since the beginning, love their cameras and have over a dozen around the house already, so this was just another to add to the system. Alexa integration was a bit of an issue since I had the other "garage door" item there when I first got this hooked up, so I had a few times of deleting items and letting the Echo do discovery again before I finally got this to the point where it worked via voice. But once I had it set, it's been just fine. Camera is the standard camera that I've got elsewhere, so nothing new for me there, but I had looked at other openers with built in cameras, and those don't do any good night vision, so for me that was just another benefit of doing it with this add-on rather than getting an opener with this functionality built in. Once you've determined the opener's compatibility, if you are compatible, this is a good add-on. It didn't save me a number of clicks to open the garage from the smart phone, since it's just as many to open the Wyze app, go to the garage door entry, and toggle the controller as it is to open the MyQ app, and open the garage. I already had a Wyze camera in my garage, and I'll keep it since it gives me a good angled view so I can see the full door entry and all the way to my entrance door to the house, but I like this view as well, I see more outside than I do with the other camera already there. Definitely worth the price.

Handy safety feature to add security to your home

This is a very cool, simple add-on feature that can supplement your home security and protection. This Wyze indoor/outdoor wireless garage door opener with camera is really cool. This is an add-on device that allows you to view and operate your garage door from anywhere using the simple application on your phone. High resolution 1080p video allows you to view the action and see what's going on in your garage, even if you're not home. The camera and app use recognition software and a large QR code placed on the inside of your garage do to be able to automatically notify you if/when your garage is open or closed. We've all been there, you leave for the day or for the week and 5 minutes into you're trip you have that upside down feeling in your stomach wondering if the garage door was closed or left open - now there's no more worries!! The app allows you to remotely view the camera feed to instantly check from anywhere. Even if you forget to check your door the smart app will notify you if your garage door is left open outside of "normal" hours. This kit comes with everything you need to add on to your existing system without need to replace or change any of your existing equipment. The unit has wired power that plugs in right next to your opener so no need to worry about battery life and/or charging. The included wired garage door controller taps straight into your existing system for a reliable connection every time. Setup takes a small amount of technical skill but is fairly straight forward. The instructions and online support make this a doable FYI project for anyone.

I have been waiting for a product like this for since moving into a new house. I previously used a Chamberlin MyQ system, but it was not compatible with the opener installed at our new place. This product is everything I was looking for and more in an impossibly affordable package. Pros: Ease of use - Once set up, this product is a breeze to use. The app is sleek and responsive and very easy to navigate. Functionality - The wyze app is packed with features that make home automation a breeze. I love being able to set up a nightly routine to close the garage door every night, get notifications if it is opened etc. Price - I would be remiss if I didnt mention the price here. For $50 you can automate your garage door AND get a full HD camera for monitoring? Seems to good to be true, but it isn't. Cons: Setup - This is a very minor "con" but it does bear mentioning. While the application is easy to setup, the hardware does require a bit of minor electrical work - twisting wires together at the opener. There is a very handy You Tube video that will help you with this and it's generally not too hard, but it is something to keep in mind. All in all this is a FANTASTIC device that can be utilized by nearly anyone and I highly recommend it.

Great garage camera and remote opener

I liked the idea of being able to remotely control my garage door from my phone and adding a camera was an added bonus for me. I have remotes in my cars, just like everyone else. But nothing for when I was riding my motorcycle. So adding the Wyze Indoor/Outdoor Camera with remote was a cool upgrade for me. Just a warning up front though. You need to check the compatibility of your system before you get this. Not all garage door opens work with this set up. I am not sure if there are other ones specifically set up for other systems, but just be warned up front. If it does not work with your garage door opener, then obviously you lose that feature, but you still have a solid cam working in the garage. So about that camera. It is HD quality, not 4K. That said, it is definitely good enough for the garage and I get solid videos when I get an alert. For me the router was close enough to the garage that it grabbed the signal fairly well. The base that attaches to the camera is magnetic, and the garage door motor is on a steel frame. So instead of attaching it to the ceiling or wall, I stuck it right to the frame and ran the power cable to the ceiling where the motor plugs into. Then I ran the wires up the frame and hid them in the frame so it looked cleaner. The camera view was upside down, but you can adjust that in your settings by doing a 180 Degree flip of the view. I catch anything that moves in there now, which is great because that is where my Road Glide sleeps. As far as the remote module, just make sure you are plugging it in the right spots on your motor body. Mine has four slots on the side, and I had one of the two wires in the wrong place. So when I went to use it, it would hear a click and nothing happened. I realized what I had done after it didn’t work and I fixed it. The app is great as well. Setting up an account and setting things up had a little learning curve. And of course they have a paid option you can get, and they give you something like a week to use the paid version for free so you fall in love with it. I am happy with the free version, but I can see the benefit in video storage if you need it. I do not. So for the price you are paying, this thing is amazing. Honestly I would pay more for it, even double. So for anyone wanting garage security at a basic level, I highly suggest looking at this as your starting point. I think it is a good buy and a great feature packed option.

    Nice Camera But Annoying Install

I was excited to try the Wyze Indoor/Outdoor Wireless 1080p HD Smart Garage Door Opener And Security Camera. First, I downloaded the Wyze app charged the camera. The camera is functional, but not super attractive. That didn't bother since my primary goal was to use it in a garage. The video images are quite reasonable. In terms of camera and app function, I was very pleased. Included in the box is also a controller unit that has to physically plug into your garage door opener. I presume there is a good reason for this physical connection, but I would have thought it better to have a wireless connection to the garage door like some other products I've used. The controller has two lead wires. In order to connect the wires, you must disconnect the two wires from your wall unit garage door opener, intertwine each of the two controller wires with one of the wall unit wires, and then insert the wires back into the garage door opener. It works, but it's a bit of a bulky process - especially if your garage door opener (as mine) is older and a bit more challenging to decipher the wires. That reminds me, don't for get to check compatibility. As I found out, even some compatible openers can be difficult. But once you get that sorted out, everything works fine. I was not exactly a fan of having to put a sticker of a giant (about 1-foot square) QR code on my garage door, but this helps the camera know if the door is open or closed. Personally, I'd rather just view the camera and decide that myself. All-in-all, I'm a little disappointed in the experience. Again, once it's up and running, it works well. The camera is an appreciated security addition to an app garage door controller. But in the age of wireless, this seemed like too cumbersome a process.
