Quick and simple solution!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't my first smart lock, but it might be my new favorite. The installation of this was the easiest and most efficient I've done yet. It was connected to Wi-Fi, installed, and working withing MNUTES... I couldn't believe it... Especially since I've done a smart lock install before and while I didn't think it was too complicated, it definitely wasn't this easy! The best part of this lock is you don't need to get new keys made, or get rid of your old keys. The "Key side" of the lock and deadbolt stay the same.... only the inside of the lock will need replaced with this... this is great! No more having to make copies of keys for the family members that already have them... Nothing will change for them or for you... Just added convenience! The lock has worked flawlessly with the added keypad and is wireless too! So you can mount the keypad wherever you want, and it responds very quickly once you enter the code. For me when I'm outside doing yardwork and forget something inside and realize the front door is locked, instead of walking around back or to the garage I can just put the code in and grab what I need! Super easy! Super quick! Super simple. I would highly suggest getting one of these.

Great smarthome addition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking to get a smart door lock for my place but was a bit leery or not interested in having to switch keys for my locks. I found out that this lock didn't require changing out any keys and would work with your existing deadbolt so I figured this would be a great alternative. I now know there are a few other brands that make locks like this where you don't need to switch out keys so that's a good thing as well. Installation is pretty simple and straightforward. When you download the companion app, it'll walk you through installing and configuring the lock. Once you plug in the gateway, it's pretty much unscrewing the bolts on your deadbolt and letting the app configure everything else. Simple and all you really need is a screwdriver to complete the installation. Once setup, there are some settings you'll want to update. This has an auto-lock feature that can be either setup to lock once the door closes or after a certain period of time. There is also a geofence option where it'll lock once you leave a certain radius from your home. I'd suggest updating the notifications first as getting an alert everytime the door is locked/unlocked can get kind of annoying. After setting everything up, I think I got this to where I need it to be. A couple things I noticed; With this installed, I can't unlock the deadbolt with my key anymore. Not sure if this is intended but it's kind of a potential issue should the batteries in the lock die or I misplace my phone or something. Also, the deadbolt adapters are plastic and fit inside the metal gear that unlocks/locks the bolt. Considering it's metal against plastic, overtime there may be some wear and tear issues that occur. Would've liked to have seen the adapters made of metal or even a plastic adapter with a metal housing just to limit any issues with wear and tear. Overall though, really nice pickup if you want to smarten up your home.

Great way to add wireless to an existing deadbolt
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having swapped out locks a few times on my doors I was confident I would be able to install this but was ready for the usual struggle. Happily that was not the case! One of the unique things about the Wyze lock is that it repurposes most of your existing hardware. You simply remove the inside door portion that you usually lock by hand and replace it with the Wyze lock box. There are a couple adaptors inside the box to account for different lock types. Mine is D-shaped and worked with one adaptor, and there is another for round stems, or whatever they're called. Then you just re-use the screws that you removed from the inside toggle to screw in the Wyze box. Just add batteries and you're done! Also in the box is a wifi bridge to add the lock to your wifi network. This is probably my only complaint, so I'm starting to accumulate too many bridges for other devices, but that's a first-world problem to be sure. Once the bridge is connected and the lock is on your network you can control it via Google Assistant on an Android Phone or via Amazon Alexa. The great part is that you can also check the status of the lock via voice (or in the app) so when I'm lying in bed and can't remember if I locked the door I can just ask the Echo on my nightstand. There is also a feature to auto-unlock the door if your phone is with you via bluetooth, but I have not had a chance to set that up and try it for reliability. It seems like something that would benefit my kid who always has his phone with him. I do wish it was a little more attractive. I have mine set up on my garage door which is hidden away in a laundry room, but I don't think I would put this on my nice front door. There is a keypad which is an additional purchase that I would recommend with it. If someone gets locked out without a phone it's simple to regain entry that way!

Not bad, but room for improvement.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a decent way to smarten up your existing "dumb" deadbolt. When it works, it works well; but tends to jam easily leaving your door unlocked. Pros: -Multiple user support, each with unique personal access code. -Can lock and unlock via voice through Google home or Alexa. Unlock requires a pin code -Works with existing hardware, you keep your existing key -Audible alarm if lock is jammed or door ajar. -Quick and Simple installation -All installation hardware included. It even included a small Phillips head screw driver. -Remote / Physical keypad available as an accessory -Magnetically attached battery cover allows for quick battery replacement without the need for tools. Cons: -Becomes Jammed very easily. May not work if existing deadbolt hardware is stiff. -Uses gyroscopic sensor to determine door position instead of external sensors. Will attempt to automatically lock (if enabled) when door is partially closed. -Does not alarm if door is opened while lock is engaged and door is partially closed. -Proximity unlock, not 100% reliable. -Geofence unlock area is very large. -Works only with Wyze ZigBee gateway and is not compatible with existing gateways you may already have in your home. -Does not mount perfectly flus to door surface. I guess my recommendation for this product is mixed. If you have a strong desire to keep your existing deadbolt, but really want smart features; then yes I recommend you consider this lock. Installation and setup was quite simple. The required Wyze app walks you through the entire process; which from start to finish was about 10 minutes. If you're willing to completely replace your existing hardware and keys, then I would recommend you consider some of the other smart locks on the market.

Great smart lock for renters
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several Wyze devices in my home (two video cameras, and two smart bulbs) and this is a great addition to my burgeoning smart home. I'm a renter, and this is a great option for a smart lock because it uses the existing lock hardware, so I'm not violating the lease. The Wyze app walks you through installation step by step, and it was super easy. It took less than 10 minutes and communicates easily with the lock gateway. You will need an outlet close to your door, so be aware of that. The Wyze lock can also be connected to your digital assistant. I have my lock connected to Alexa, and it works well. To unlock the door, you will need to set up a pin number in order to unlock the door with you voice. The auto-lock feature, which locks the door as soon as you close it behind you, is active as the default. You can change the setting to lock after one minute, five minutes, or 60 minutes, or you can disable the feature. I chose to disable the feature, as I think it increases the chance that i could end up locked out of my house! The only feature that I found buggy is the auto unlock feature. The Wyze app uses location based features to unlock the door when you arrive home, but I've found that it isn't always reliable. Sometimes it works great, but at others it takes several minutes to notice that you are home. Once, it did not auto unlock at all until after I was home and had locked the door behind me. A keypad is available for this lock at an extra cost, but its not necessary for the lock to function. You can control the lock in the app or with your voice.

Looks Simple. Works Great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup is pretty straight-forward. Simply remove the interior side of the lock and attached the mounting frame to your door. There are a few different barrel accessories to help find the right fit for your door lock. Screw in the actual locking device, pop in the included four AA batteries and you're all set as far as the hardware is concerned. Overall, the hardware felt a little cheaper than I expected, but it certainly looks nice and simple. You do have to plug in a small gateway near your door. Using the indicator lights on the gateway is needed to help you when adding the device to the network via the Wyze app. Pairing the device too way longer than it probably should have for me. It literally was faster for me to install the actual lock than it was for my phone to identify the gateway and lock. After deleting the app, restarting my phone, re-plugging in the gateway, and some choice of words, I was finally able to get the app to connect to the gateway and lock. The Wyze app is pretty straight-forward when locking, unlocking the door. Calibration of locking and unlocking the door was a bit tricky, but not as difficult as getting the app and gateway to connect. The device works when you're on wi-fi or cellular modes. Overall, I like this smart lock. I can leave my home without needing to bring keys with me. So if I'm stepping out for the evening and Ubering to an event, or going for a quick jog, all I need is my phone to lock and unlock my door.

Awesome and Easy!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was SUPER easy to install, I am unsure of why an allen wrench was included in the box because all that I needed was a screwdriver with a couple of different sized bit choices. As a marker, my husband is great at a lot of things but he is not a "handyman" and yet he was able to follow along with the installation that the app guides you through without any issue. I love this lock because it (and the outdoor keypad) allows me to go on my daily runs without having to worry about carrying keys or keeping up with a hide a key and one less worry means more space to get out enjoy life. The app is really user-friendly too, it has several settings (for auto-lock/auto-unlock) so you can really personalize the device to fit your family life. I have two younger kids and so I don't want the door to be unlocked all of the time but I also don't want it locking behind them every-time they go to the mail or step outside... I recently stayed in a vacation rental where I was nearly driven mad by their "smart lock" which was scheduled to auto-lock 60 seconds after closing the door. That's not my jam, but if it is something that you want for your door then you certainly have that option. I personally choose the hour choice, but you truly get to personalize it to your liking!

Discreet smart lock
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Discreet looking smart lock. I paired up with Wyze keypad and put it inside small compartment box next to my door. No one can see my combination when I entered it. Compare to the traditonal smart lock which is visible to anyone when you entered your passcode.
