Lights the way!

I live in a fairly rural area, and around here it often gets a bit too dark at night and visibility gets low. I needed some extra light when taking out the trash or when I was coming back from work and this floodlight gives me just that. Note that this camera is hard-wired, so some electrical work will be required. Luckily, there isn’t anything too out of the ordinary required when it comes to installing this floodlight. The quick start guide provided by Wyze contains easy-to-follow instructions.
One of the main reasons I obtained this camera was because of the 2600-lumen LED lights. I can confirm this by saying that this floodlight is indeed bright. I adjusted the motion sensor to the farthest setting it can go and wow I was amazed to see how bright the floodlight was once it detected motion.
The camera quality is decent. The camera attached to the floodlight records in full 1080p and has color night vision. I think for the price point this is a great deal. The entire floodlight camera is also IP65 weather-resistant. I do live in an area that can get lots of snow so hopefully, the resistance to this type of weather holds up then.
There is also an optional Cam Plus subscription too. While a subscription can be useful and provides some features like person detection and cloud recordings, I do prefer having some of these “premium” features already included with the purchase. I would rather pay more for this floodlight firsthand than an ongoing subscription. Although, a MicroSD card can be added to see the recordings which seem to work just fine.
Overall, this floodlight camera works amazing and has done wonders for me at nighttime. The camera quality is good at this price point and should not disappoint. The only downside to this floodlight camera is the subscription. I’m not a big fan of subscription-based security cameras that hide the most important features behind a subscription. I do think some of these premium features should’ve been already included with the purchase. On the bright side, this floodlight has been reliable and useful for the entire time I have been using it. I would recommend this floodlight if you’re okay with paying for subscriptions, otherwise, there are others out there that do not require one to unlock the most important features.

The Wyze Wired Outdoor Wi-Fi Floodlight Home Security Camera, is an outdoor LED Spotlight with a Wyze - Cam v3 Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p HD Security Camera integrated into the unit. Simple concept and engineering design which leads to an effective motion sensing, video recording LED floodlight which has multiple use cases. I installed this unit above my garage door using the existing electrical connection that was present for the outside light. When using a switched outlet you have to ensure you leave the switch on the faceplate in the on position otherwise the camera and floodlight will not receive power, Wyze includes a sticker to place on the wall plate as a reminder, I also added a piece of electrical tape to prevent accidental powering off of the device. I will say you need to be comfortable with basic electrical work and take precautions to de-energize the circuit during a self-install by turning off the power at the circuit breaker, otherwise seek professional installation services. Overall, the setup using the mobile app was fairly straightforward, although I had some glitches with the QR code, but I was able to overcome them.
As for the unit, the floodlight has two weatherproof adjustable bright white LED lights which are really effective in lighting up a large driveway or backyard. So much so that you have to position them correctly as they will overlap into others property if they are in close proximity, luckily the light cutoff between lit and unlit areas is pretty severe. The motion sensitivity is good with a 270-degree field of view, overall sensitivity and detection areas can be adjusted in the Wyze app.
The recording functions in this unit rely heavily on a subscription to Wyze’s cloud services (as do most of their cameras), however with a MicroSD card slot you can avoid subscription fees by recording to your own MicroSD card. With that being said you do lose some AI functionality and the navigating between your recordings is a bit more difficult as you have to access them via a timeline interface rather than a cloud-based album. This is a bit different than the Wyze - Cam v3 Indoor/Outdoor HD or Wyze - Cam Outdoor v2 Security Cameras. And this is where the Wyze camera experience goes a bit sideways, no consistency between models, unless you subscribe to cloud services for each and every camera. The hardware is decent at this price point and all the features are there to be a really good solution, the frustration comes into play regarding how they parse out functionality to move you towards their cloud subscription model.
Pros:
- Decent hardware and features at this price point
- Cloud services are comprehensive and integrated well within their app
- AI features with subscription
- LED lights are bright, lighting up a driveway or backyard is not an issue.
- Good motion sensor, wide field of view
- Can add another camera and create two separate fields of view which cover the range of the motion sensor.
- Siren, speaker and two-way communication is nice, but seems more like a novelty.
Cons:
- Reliance on cloud subscription
- Long term viability of the hardware
- No way to dim the light, it is either full on or off.

Here's another one of those "why didn't somebody think of this before?" products: A motion-activated floodlight with security cam attached.
It's a natural combination and Wyze had done a good job of bringing everything together wih this Wyze Cam Floodlight.
Installation is pretty simple, the floodlights are energy efficient LED and very bright and the security cam and motion sensor provide just the kind of security monitoring lots of folks want.
Even better, Wyze has come up with a pretty affordable way to push the video to the cloud with a pay-whatever-you-want ( including nothing) option. It's quite limited (max video time is 15 seconds) but can provide the bare essentials when you need it for little to no cost.
The somewhat bulky device comes nicely packaged with all the stuff you need to properly mount the Cam Floodlight, including printed instructions (sadly lacking with most electronic devices these days). Still, you need the Wyze app to really use the thing once installed (you cannot setup the camera without it) So it's easier just to download that first and let it walk you through the install, step by step. It's easier to see and there are videos if you really get stuck.
This cam floodlight can be mounted under an eve, the normal spot for most floods, or vertically on the wall (replacing the typical porch light). Installation is straightforward and easy enough that even those with do-it-your-self phobia can probably manage. (assuming you are using this to replace an existing flood or porch light and the wiring and junction box are already in place.)
Turn off the power, connect the color coded wires with wire nuts, attach the cam flood to the wall with a single screw and turn the power back on. The app walks you through connecting the camera to your wi-fi network and choosing the setup options you want.
With a paid Cam Plus cloud storage account (less than $2 a month if paid annually), the cam can be set to detect packages, pets, vehicles and/or people. Sound and smoke detectors also can trigger the camera. The paid account also gives you unlimited recording time and the ability to fast forward through the videos.
If you skip the subscription, the cam is triggered only by motion, sound and smoke detectors and no videos are recorded. Just a snapshot. But you can get up to 12 seconds of video in the cloud each time the sensor is tripped with the pay-whatever-you-want subscription -- dubbed Cam Plus Lite.
Video quality is HD and very good in daylight. But the very bright LED lights can wash out anything close to the camera at night. Try pointing the lights a different direction, or dim them using the app, if this is a problem.
Overall, this is a good choice for those who need the light and security a device of this type provides.

Decent Video Floodlight with some quirks.

First let me say I am overall pretty happy with the video quality and brightness of the LEDs. I've actually had to turn the intensity down to approximately 50% to not blind my neighborhood. Video quality is surprisingly good, even in extreme low-light conditions.
There are however some issues that should be considered. First the microphone / audio quality is fine when viewing recordings, but definitely underwhelming when viewing the live feed, especially during two-way communication. Second, audio triggered events are practically unusable. The slightest breeze, will trigger an event, even with the sensitivity turned down to minimum levels. Lastly, the floodlight features a function that can "filter" triggered events to those detected by both the camera and floodlight... That is if it would actually work.
Despite these issues it has been, for the most part, trouble free. Both the installation and activation were fairly straight forward, that is if you're comfortable with electrical wiring and replacing an existing light fixture.
Note: this fixture is designed to be mounted flush against a wall or fixture plate and is slightly larger than a standard round fixture box. If you plan to mount to an elevated surface, be prepared for a little extra work creating a weather-tight seal.
For the price, this is a fairly decent floodlight security cam and I wouldn't have any issue recommending it to a friend.

I installed the Wyze Outdoor Wifi Floodlight camera at the same time as a different floodlight camera from another brand (a 4K model at a much higher price), so it was easy for me to contrast the installs between the two. I also have recently installed another Wyze camera so I was familiar with the Wyze app itself, which maybe gave them a bit of a leg up.
The install was pretty straightforward, about the same as any other light fixture really. I mounted the Wyze floodlight camera to a round outdoor junction box, which mated right up with the included hardware and made for a super easy install. Adding the camera to my Wyze app was also very easy, just a matter of scanning a QR code and making sure I had good wifi coverage on that corner of the house. The motion detection FOV of the Wyze floodlight is outstanding, and the floodlight itself gives pretty good coverage. It more than exceeded the light output of a standard screw-in bulb floodlight fixture it is replacing. Quality of the video is not incredible but it also is very good considering the low cost these cameras come in at.
One feature I LOVE about the Wyze floodlight camera is that it includes a USB port for chaining another regular Wyze camera off of this floodlight. The USB plug is really designed for the standard Wyze cam, but I am using it with one of their models that has a battery built in and it is doing fine keeping that model powered up. The daisy chain ability is amazing for covering down both walls at a corner, and I think this is a huge selling point for this Wyze floodlight camera. Definitely recommended.

Good Video Quality and Very Bright

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The first thing you will notice when installed as that this Wyze floodlight is very bright. That brightness allows the camera to pick up every detail at night. No fuzzy images. I believe it is so bright because it is wired. Otherwise, it would drain the battery very quickly, which would force the manufacturer to limit the light output.
Overall quality is very good for the price point. That applies not only to the light, but also to the camera and image quality. It is “only” 1080p, not 4K, but it is clear enough
An SD card is included but my recommendation is to buy a bigger SD card to save the videos. The other option to store them on the cloud using Wyze Camp Plus subscription. They offer a free trial, but after the trial period, you will have a monthly cost. There are advantages using the cloud, but that is up to you to decide.
Like other Wyze cameras, you can set zones so that it doesn’t warn you about people on the sidewalk unless they get into your property. That is a common feature in newer cameras, and you will be happy to use it. If you don’t set up the zone you want to monitor, you will probably regret and go back to set it up. Unfortunately, it doesn't recognize shapes and for a couple of very windy days, it kept alerting me because it was detecting the movement of a small tree.
Connecting to Wi-Fi was easy as the setup is simple. Installation takes some time, but it is not hard. This is a good brand and I’m glad that the price is good too.

Pretty good floodlight camera. Has a lot of features but unfortunately like most new security cameras nowadays it requires a subscription for many of them to function. But it is still pretty useful even without a subscription. You can get many useful functions without a subscription at least for now though Wyze may try to sell you one in the app from time to time. They offer three different subscriptions starting with a basic one and better ones for more money. Without a subscription you can still receive notifications when something triggers it but it only saves about 12 seconds of video. You can also view it live to see what's currently going on and speak through it. The light works well too.
Easy to install if you have an existing fixture you just want to replace. The wired portion is just for power, the camera connects to your wifi wirelessly. Be sure to turn off the power at the breaker so you don't get a shock. If you don't have a fixture in the location where you want to install it you'll obviously need to run some wiring to it which is much more complicated and may require some to hire an electrician to install it. I used it to replace my light on my back porch and the lights work well to light my backyard. The camera watches the approach to the back door of my house. I also have a Wyze doorbell camera at my front door. They both work well so far and give me a greater sense of security in my home.

Long story short, I really like this device and would recommend it to almost anyone.
The packaging is quite simple. The instructions included send you to the app, which takes you through the steps for installation there. I really wish they would include instructions without having to go through the app, however, you are going to be using the app to monitor the floodlight, so I guess it isn't really a deal-breaker.
Connecting this to replace my floodlight was relatively simple, and I'd compare it to replacing a light fixture or ceiling fan without the burden of a huge fan.
My neighbors complained after a couple weeks that the light was coming on often during the night, and I found that the motion sensitivity was, by default, way too high for where it was. I need to say that the brightness of these floodlights is very nice, and even turned down, I can mow grass at night with these floodlights. I turned down the brightness and adjusted the sensitivity, and have had no other issues.
It records to the SD card I added to the camera whenever there is motion or sound (which I disabled), as well as turns on the floodlights. The timer for the floodlights is adjustable, which isn't something I'm all that concerned about, but I like the flexibility with the device.
I've dealt with wiring devices in my home for a couple decades, so my experience replacing light fixtures, ceiling fans, etc. is a little more involved than most. I also have electrical testing equipment to make sure I don't shock myself. If you are not certain about how to do it, get someone with some experience.

The safety of my family and home are my top priority. In the past month or so, there have been a few incidents around our home. Although I do have other cameras, the night vision is not as great in the smaller cameras. So, the opportunity arose to get my hands on the Wyze - Wired Outdoor Wi-Fi Floodlight camera.
For the installation, it really is not that difficult changing a light fixture on your home. Just remember to switch the appropriate circuit breaker off and have a tester handy to make sure that the power is off. Make sure you know which wire is hot, neutral, ground, etc., and you should be good to go.
As for the remote connection, the app will pretty much guide you step by step. I have a few other Wyze cameras connected as well, so the linking of the Wyze - Wired Outdoor Wi-Fi Floodlight Home Camera was simple.
As for the performance aspect of it. The floodlight has been working great so far. The light is nice and bright, which is just what I wanted. It has a pretty wide angle camera that captures the entire front of my home.
Another thing I really like is the 2-way audio connection. This is not only handy when an intruder attempts something, but also great for package deliveries.
I would definitely recommend the Wyze - Wired Outdoor Wi-Fi Floodlight Home Security Camera to anyone.

The Wyze floodlight with wi-fi home security camera is a great addition to any home. I may be installed in existing electrical boxes, or a new wire may be run. If you would like to always have it on with no switch consult with an electrician unless you have the electrical knowledge. Overall, very simple installation with some knowledge of electricity and taking proper precautions. The lights can be adjusted to point the direction you would like, and the application set up is very simple. The camera can be pointed in almost any direction and the motion sensor is mounted blow. One of the main things that I don't like much about the flood light is the lights can be easily moved and pointed to different in many cases if a ball or something hits it it will move the light and point a different direction. The way to avoid this they should have added a bold to tighten and make it harder to move. The light itself is very bright and lights up enough. I have a one-acre lot, and this is perfect to keep an eye on the backyard when not home. I would totally recommend this as your next security camera.

The Wyze Cam v3 needs no introduction - it’s considered one of the best value indoor/outdoor cameras with a bunch of useful features. And that sits at the heart of the Wyze Wired Floodlight. The name is confusing (saying both “wired” and “Wi-Fi”), but in essence it means the floodlight itself is powered by wires, while the camera works over Wi-Fi.
The unit is typical “Wyze-like” i.e. all plastic build, but well made. The floodlight can be adjusted to focus light, and the camera can be moved to some degree for needed coverage. The PIR sensor however gave me some limitations, as Wyze suggests keeping it at a level for optimum detection.
Installation is easy for anyone comfortable to work with electric wires (of course when the circuit is turned off). All the needed mounting hardware came with it, and since I already had an exterior electrical junction box, I had to do minimal work. It replaced my years old, “non-smart” floodlight with no fuss. Wyze provides a useful hook to keep the floodlight attached while I was connecting/splicing the electrical wires. One advice I’d like to give is to check that both the camera and the floodlight can be powered on and are fully operational before screwing the unit. I had an issue with the camera cable which required taking out the unit multiple times, so thing would have turned tedious if I had discovered it after I have mounted the unit into the wall already.
The Wyze cam v3 connects to the floodlight with a special Micro-USB cable. By special I mean that the Micro-USB end has a specially molded end for water-proofing. I could not use another cam v3 to the same outlet, and the bundled cam also is difficult to connect to normal cam v3 extension cable. There is, however, a full size USB-A port where I was able to connect another camera without issue. This provides an option to extend the “reach” of the floodlight camera to other corners.
Controlling of the floodlight is done via the Wyze app via the Wi-Fi capable camera. After setting up the camera, I got an option to select the floodlight as an extension, and this opened up all the features such as controlling the light, detection sensitivity, etc. The provided options are quite extensive.
The LED light array is very bright, but I could not change the color temperature like some other competing floodlight cams, but due to my usage that was not an issue. The PIR works quite well, able to light up when my dogs go out in my backyard. I haven’t seen a lot of false triggering (and that can be adjusted in the app).
The CamPlus subscription is a nice option, but not mandatory. Without subscription the detection recording is time-limited, and there’s a cooldown period. However, a MicroSD card (which unfortunately is not included) provides continuous recording which I can check anytime via the app. I had no issue using a 64GB micro-SDXC card.
In summary, I’m very happy with the floodlight so far. It is working both as a security camera and as a convenient light in my backyard, and given the price and ease of use is a definite buy.

Hello everyone this is my review of the Wyze Cam Floodlight. My first impression is the camera is nice-looking with large LED floodlights. It is white so it blends in well with other flood lights on your house and it looks mostly like a regular flood light so most people won't even notice it.
Before I tell you everything I like about the Wyze Cam Floodlight, I think I should mention not only to you but to Wyze. The base of this unit is too large to fit a standard four-inch electrical box. I will attach pictures. There are larger electrical boxes that may fit the Wyze Cam Floodlight, however, you will not have one of those on your house. Wyze should fix this problem immediately. The fact that it is too large could cause water to leak inside the electrical box and cause shorting and failure. I tried several different methods of fixing this problem, in the end, the easiest way to solve the problem is to get a four-inch box cover blank and use the gasket that comes with the cover in between the Wyze Cam Floodlight and the four-inch box. This gasket will take up the space where the water could intrude and cause issues.
With that said, if you mount the Wyze Cam Floodlight under an awning or overhang you will not need this extra step. Simply install the unit as per the instructions. The instructions are the scan the QR code on your phone and read-along scenario. I do wish Wyze would have added at least a quick start guide. Also, remember this is a direct wire camera, if you are not familiar with installing lights, please call an electrician to do the installation. It can be very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
Now that that's out of the way, on to the things I like about this camera. First off, the picture quality is great. It looks like a 4K video of me with nice crisp images. Only the very extreme edges of the picture seem to fade out. This is due to the wide-angle lens, of course. Currently, I am in the free trial stage with the video capture feature. And I must say I like what Wyze did here. The videos are time-stamped and ordered into rows to make it easy to find what you are looking for. The only minor complaint about the recorded video is that you have to open each video up in order to erase it. I think that it is set up this way to prevent an accidental erasing of something you didn't want to. However, I think that Wyze can improve this in the future. And it's a small problem, that could probably be dealt with by a software update.
There is a lot of customization you can do to enhance your experience. For example alerts off at night, and the ability to choose certain areas in the camera's field of view that you wish for it to ignore. Such a plant that's in the frame and always blowing in the wind. This will stop the camera from alerting you about the plant all day. It also has several filters you can apply such as pet, person, delivery, etc... this is a nice feature that allows you to filter out events that just waste time or are irrelevant.
Update, I paid for a year of camera monitoring. I do not recommend this, the app crashes at least one time per day. Then you have to reset the app and the camera to make it work. Sometimes the app crashes after 6 hours and doesn't record anything.
So I think I'm going to give this Wyze Cam Floodlight system a 1-star rating. For the base issue, and the poor app stability. I will definitely not recommend it to a friend or family member.

The meat and potatoes:
You can set zones, adjust the brightness of the floodlights, adjust the sensitivity of the various sensors and triggers for not only those lights, but also the camera. It offers all of the things you need to ensure you are safe and that if anything questionable arises that you've caught it on "film". Well, so long as you have it pointed properly.
Now, in order to recall recordings, you have to have the subscription (you get a free trial straight out of the box) but pretty much every product nowadays requires a subscription to get full functionality of all features, so that should come as little to no surprise.
My one gripe:
The aforementioned sensors are *too* sensitive. After the light was going on constantly (literally) and I was getting recordings of "nothing", I went into the app and kept lowering the levels until I finally got to 10% brightness (it is an extremely bright set of lights) and the motion activation associated with them triggering set to on to 8%. Even at 8% the light turns on with a strong enough gust that moves shadows that are within my "motion zone."
I tried setting a zone with the same percentages just off to the side, but it cuts off too much of the area that I *want* to be triggered when someone enters it, so it isn't "perfect" in that regard. It really isn't a huge deal (the same finicky sensitivity stuff applies to the camera, as well) but I want to point out that you will likely have to mess with it a bunch in conjunction with the motion zones to get it more to your liking.
All in all, a great security camera with very bright floodlights at a more than reasonable price. Easy recommendation and a great holiday gift idea that I don't think too many people would think to put under the tree!

It’s been pretty cold out here in Ohio so I haven’t had a chance to install this yet, but I’m really impressed with the features of this floodlight compared to some of my other brands.
I have several different brands of floodlight cameras for my home and my Airbnb’s and when I look at the initial cost, subscription plans and feature set, this one fits my needs the most. I have their wireless video doorbell, wireless indoor/outdoor cameras and this floodlight. They all work well together and are quite simple to install.
My favorite feature of this floodlight camera is that it’s dusk to dawn capable. Install it and forget it, just leave the light switch on. Some other brands, you can setup a schedule and the lights will come on, but this just works. I don’t have to account for daylight savings time or for those days when the weather is bad and it gets dark earlier. I prefer simple setup, simple use and reliability.
This also works with Google and Alexa which is great. I’m hoping with the Matter standard being rolled out that it will eventually work with Apple HomeKit, but if not, Alexa will do.
This brand wouldn’t ordinarily be a brand I would look for, but after getting several of their products, it’s the better setup for my needs. I definitely recommend

Before purchasing any Wyze products - be aware that they have a “strict no refund policy”. Their subscription plans do not send a reminder email to give you a heads up before they automatically renew your subscription. I called them within an hour of the auto payment to let them know that I no longer used the cameras and would have cancelled my plan ahead of the renewal if I was warned that the payment was imminent. The “customer service” rep explained that they will not refund the subscription because they have a “strict no refund policy” and they don’t care what the reason is. The company is horrific to do business with. Run away- there are so many other great companies with better hardware and service.
