I don’t understand after watching this, the negative reviews were. I really enjoyed it, and was better than I thought it would be. Fantastic picture quality! Looks awesome in 4K. The SteelBook is absolutely stunning.

This movie kind of fell flat on it's face it was alright seeing the characters come back I love that part but without the same director the movie just didn't feel the same didn't even have the X-men theme music in it at all which I always look forward to and the Quicksilver slow motion scene was cut very short a lot of what made the previous movies great was taken out of this one.

The steelbook art is beautiful inside and out. The Blu-ray quality is also excellent. I wish there was some more special features, the making of doc is just okay and most of th deleted scenes are longer versions of scenes that are in the movie.

It's an Excellent Origin Story of Dark Phoenix! Not the Best of the X-Men Franchise, but, still very good! Definitely worth buying!

Despite bad reviews...... I take the comic films on an individual basis and keep in mind all the factors with company mergers etc...... can't wait for the MCU version.

Just unwrapped Christmas gift for the family - a dented steelbook. It’s sold out. Return period also expired, due to October purchase. Not easy to spot the dent until shrink-wrap removed, but it’s in front, above where you’d open it. Since it’s in a prominent area of solid color, it’s easy to see. Would have had to inspect it by feel to detect. As an otherwise experienced steelbook buyer, this got by me. It was available after the first batch sold out, maybe someone detected or dented it and returned it.

It’s actually over exaggerated the bad reviews the film has received, for me is a tie with Captain Marvel but since it’s a Disney/Marvel film it has to get good reviews, don’t trust Rotten Tomatoes 50/50 at the time, for me it seem audience had made their mind the movie was going to bomb, and would have liked to see how the original vision would have been with the Phoenix Saga being 2-3 movies planned.
For me was a better film and how The Last Stand should have been handled in the first place and at least better than Apocalypse, and I liked this approach, but not as swan song for the franchise and would have liked to see Disney at least for respect being the series that highlighted the foundation of the superhero genre, to finished this series properly. Film really had its issues, perhaps with editing because I noted like three scenes with pashing problems. I liked the costumes the intention to be more realistic and modern like the film Logan without use of specific colored superhero costumes like the MCU films. Liked the special effects but noted some sound effect issues, and the score by Zimmers is one of the best parts of the film, one of his best, the tracks called Reckless, Insertion and Coda, the best in the Fox X-Men films, and for me one of the best in superhero films, Marvel should hire him for "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness". Many blame on the director/writer Kinberg but for me, as a first time director, he did what he could do with the project with many inside issues between both Fox Studios and Disney, and good thing is one of the creator of the Phoenix Saga, Chris Claremont, praised the film given the focus, also he has a cameo in the film.
The cast did a great job with what they were given, more or less McAvoy was given a different direction I as Professor X, and Fassbender like always awesome as Magneto, Lawrence portrayed a maternal role to the young mutants, Hoult an improvement and a more personal portrayal for Beast and wonder why there is constant criticism for Sophie Turner that for me did a good job and I liked her as Jean Grey. Sadly we aren’t give too much of Chastain did committed herself by to the material she was given for her character that is based in 3 characters of the Phoenix saga. Sherydan, Shipp and Smith-McPhee were great with what they delivered, but sadly for Evans, he is great, compared to the previous two films he isn’t given too much to deliver in this film.
Perhaps many didn’t liked, and agree some of the reasons, the first act and final act are the ones with most action, the rest is more like a family drama or more like a personal mission for the characters, it reminded me to those familiar, with Netflix's Umbrella Academy which I love. I always like stories were by some twist one of the main heroes turn to the dark side and have internal battles. Let’s just wait for "New Mutants", probably the final Fox X-Men film or, according sources, the first X-Men film in the MCU, and not connected to the Fox X-Men series.
Like the steelbook, but agree that the exterior art was printed in low resolution, wonder why it wasn’t properly handled, but it seems it wasn’t given proper attention because the reputation of the film, still the interior art is decent.

This movie not only made up for the "misstep" X-men: The Last Stand in using The Phoenix Saga, it re-imagined many other pieces for in the comic story and did an excellent job in having to re-tool an important piece due to Captain Marvel putting it in their movie. (The Skrulls are in the original comics of The Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Saga not in Captain Marvel's story but Disney/Marvel/ James Cameron's "Alita "and money pushed this movie back slowing them to get there first.) It hits all of the important points of Jean's story and is filled with great action fights, mutants using their powers, they get them off the ground, there are characters we get a glimpse of that are included in her original story, Xavier's motives are exposed, frustrations, vengeance, Genosha, Dazzler, Selene(The Black Queen-Hellfire Club). The alien race D'Bari that the Phoenix destroyed by eating their sun (in the comics) are introduced with motives of their own..... This movie is great and critics have been crapping on it since last year, before any of us could see it and before it was done, planting negative seeds, taking things out of context, judging the actors, making false assumptions, so that when it didn't reach monetary equality, they scoffed and said "told ya". All it takes is a word to ruin a person or a thing and they used several. It's lackluster attendence is solely critics fault and bad studio timing, again. They soured the public's mind on things that we haven't seen and the studio, only thinking about what is going to get them the best money, over think themselves into a failure and all put the blame on the movie. THEY ARE WRONG. Even the director apologized for it's failing, not because it was bad, but because by the numbers, it didn't connect with people that did NOT see it and with some that did..." (Even people that didn't even see it had an opinion???) it is a shame that it doesn't get the praise it deserves. They did a great job on everything. (I Only wish we had more time, like with the Avengers characters,
To get to spend and get to know these characters as long, it would've made the emotional pull greater, as it was for Endgame) Hopefully fans will come through and people that aren't easily seated will still see it and enjoy. Family lost, Family found. Life, Death and new Life again. A Phoenix Story. I will own this.

This was a movie that everyone seemed to have an opinion on before even watching it and unfortunately learn to abysmal box office numbers. Well I don’t think it’s the strongest installment in the X-Men franchise but it certainly doesn’t deserve all of the hate that it’s gotten. I would say that it is definitely an improvement over X-Men the last stand and seeing it in crystal clear 4K with the improved Dolby Atmos sound definitely makes it a worthy home-video companion. The space scenes and special effects scenes certainly benefit the most from this transfer and the film also comes packed with over two hours and special features, includes a director’s commentary, and a free digital redemption code.
If you’re a fan of the of the franchise And want to have a final film in the Fox Studios saga this is definitely worth picking up.

The 4K UHD presentation of X-Men: Dark Phoenix offers a sonic upgrade from the already excellent DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix featured on the 1080p Blu-ray with a really nicely rendered Dolby Atmos track. There is very nice vertical placement throughout the presentation, starting with some of the cacophony of the opening car crash clearly wafting overhead, and later effects, like jets and helicopters whizzing overhead clearly offering midair placement of effects. While there's the same "on again, off again" approach to immersion here that I mentioned in the X-Men: Dark Phoenix Blu-ray review, this Dolby Atmos rendering offers arguably more forceful LFE and an overall more consistent surround experience. Fidelity is excellent across the board, supporting both the over the top set pieces and the quieter dialogue moments with no problems whatsoever.

After writing the disappointing X-Men: The Last Stand, long-time franchise producer Simon Kinberg returns to the same story for Dark Phoenix in his directorial debut only to blunder it once again. Despite excellent performances from the entire cast and some admittedly mesmerizing visuals, Jean Grey's tragic evolution into the Phoenix is ultimately a dull, tired trek with some problematic misunderstandings of its source material. The saga rises to Ultra HD with a gorgeous 4K HDR10 presentation and a reference-quality Dolby Atmos soundtrack that soars far above and improves on its Blu-ray counterpart. With a small, somewhat disappointing collection of bonuses, the overall package is nonetheless recommended on UHD.

I do not understand why all the negative reviews. This film is perfectly fine; well made, VERY well acted, well written. I cannot, for the life of me, see what all the hate is about. It really makes no sense. Much better than critics would have you believe. Not every super hero movie needs to follow the Disney formula, so if you're looking for that type of movie, this is not it. In fact, I preferred the action and representation of mutant powers in this movie much more than in the Avengers. The movie isn't perfect by any means, but it's a solid film, an above-average X-Men film, and one worth the rent and watch.

I enjoyed this film in 4K; however, I would have enjoyed it even more if it was in 3D as other X-Men films were. (I do not believe that a 3D version of the film was even made for theaters.) I did not see this film in a movie theater, and the 4K disc was my first viewing of this film.
Overall, I thought that the film was a good addition to the X-Men series and gave a good background perspective on Jean Grey. I do not feel that it was a "weak" X-Men film as some critics have indicated.
Sophie Tucker (who plays Jean Grey, a.k.a. Dark Phoenix) did okay with the role and was a necessary younger person because of how the film was structured in the past. However, I do prefer the older actress, Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in other X-Men films.
The film was well photographed (picture was sharp and clear in 4K) and I thought that the special effects were good. The steelbook was a good Best Buy special addition and the price was better at Best Buy than at other retailers who were asking the same amount without the steelbook and some without the 4K.
I would recommend this film set to all X-Men fans.

This movie wasn't as bad as some reviewers led me to believe. I have stopped reading reviews of movies prior to watching them so I won't be misled by them. Jean Grey is an X-Men character that isn't all sweetness and light anyway. What makes helps to make the X-Men more interesting is that none of the characters are either all good or all evil. Even Magneto and Wolverine tried to lead "normal" lives before they were forced to resume their mutant misdeeds. I won't reveal any spoilers just in case you haven't seen it yet but just keep an open mind when you watch it.

I enjoyed this movie for what it was intended: entertainment not meant to answer questions or bring enlightenment, while putting some bucks in the pockets of those involved. This is not really a movie for someone looking for the holy grail of X-men movies, and I understand those who disliked the movie for those reasons. But, much like Star Wars Episode 2, it fills in some blanks even though (unlike Episode 2) it does skew the story line considerably. For what it was, it was fine. The 4K version looks great, hard to dislike a movie that looks so good.

If this is the end of X-men franchise as we know it then in my opinion it should have been a much grander an affair than it was which is sad. I liked the movie but I felt this group of actors deserved better writing than they got for their end. I will say it till I am blue in the face it needed to be bigger better and an event to take note of and it just wasn’t. There have always been timeline issues with this franchise that aside it should have bigger better grander and more spectacular than it was LOL. Peace out

I’ve seen all of the newest series of X-men movies. They’ve all been pretty good, with First Class being my favorite. The trailers for Dark Phoenix didn’t get me excited enough to watch this one in the theater. But I ended up renting it which led me to liking it enough to purchase. The special effects are very good and the story and action reminded me of the Dark Phoenix storyline/comics from when I was a kid. This movie did very poorly at the box office, but the movie actually turned out to be enjoyable. Fun popcorn movie.
