Great movie!!! The storyline was well written putting together the old and new cast in one X-men movie. This x-men movie is separate from all the others in regards to having a very different backend story from your typical villain and hero going head to head in a comic universal movie.

I bought all the previous X-Men movies, so I saw this one out of obligation. It was better than I expected. To me it had enough potential for repeat-viewing enjoyment that I purchased it. When it was on sale, and with a rewards certificate, it was worth buying.

The movie is good. The 3D version is OK .. I enjoyed the rewatch. The 3D ultimate edition only includes the theatrical version .. NO Rogue cut included. Purchased on sale for $10 .. great deal at the price point.

The extra footage changed the dynamics of the movie in a great way. It’s worth buying. Plus it looks fantastic in a 4K upscale. All in all great flick with a great look. Let’s not forget you get a digital code as well

    Great Collector's Edition Pack

The movie itself is great of course which is why I bought it. This collector's edition packaging looks really cool. And it comes with an additional folder labeled "Classified Files" and has files on the sentinel program along with other mutants and their powers. I'm just a little annoyed, that they didn't have the Rogue Cut included and that you have to buy it again to see it. Tsk Tsk.

The X-Men series needed this movie big time after messing up the series after X2. You can tell Fox didn't care too much about the series until Marvel's success and decided to redo the series to match up closer to the comics and make up for their mistakes, which Days of Future Past does. Building upon the success and foundation laid by First Class, Days of Future Past combines the First Class universe with the previous X-Men movies into one somewhat understable universe. Really you're not supposed to focus on all this and that's fine as the ending undoes almost every mistake Fox made especially from X-Men the Last Stand. It's all about the journey, not the destination. Time travel stories rarely make sense and Days of Future Past uses this to its advantage by not focusing at all on rules and effects and more about the mission: saving mutantkind from extinction. The plot follows Wolverine being sent back to the 70's to stop Mystique from assassinating a scientist which will cause an apocalypic future where indestructible killing machines called Sentinels wipe out most mutants and humans alike. The future is bleaker than most post apocalypic lands and the last remaining X-Men are betting everything on Wolverine to stop Mystique and reunite both Professor X and Magneto together; without them the dream of peaceful cohabitation between humans and mutants will be a pipe dream. One of the biggest problems with X-Men movies is they have overstuffed casts and Days of Future Past has so many that most are cameos at best and don't serve any purpose beyond fan service or use in action sequences. Don't bother to remember any of the mutants in the future as they're only used in set pieces and the one whose scene is easily the best, Quicksilver, is here and gone before you notice eh was even there in the first place. Halle Berry continues her useless streak as Storm by doing her usual routine of doing nothing or calling lightning out of the sky. Hugh Jackman continues to get better as Wolverine with each movie and Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellan are their usual best, but the real treat is their younger selves with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender giving them a run for their money as which pair are the better frienemies. The only weak spot is Jennifer Lawrence whose Mystique isn't that threatening or dark enough like her comic counterpart; it's not that believable. Days of Future Past is the successful redo the X-Men series desperately needed while setting seeds for the future that will next be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse. If you got turned off by the previous mediocre entries, then Days of Future Past will make you like the X-Men once again.

    Best X-Men in the Series

This is based on a comic book storyline from the X-Men comic books from somewhere around 1981. It's directed by Bryan Singer-he directed the first two X-Men movies-and I think this film is the best one in the series. It combines both the older and the newer characters by using time travel. The story starts off in the not too distant future, where Sentinels- mutant hunting robots-are eliminating any and all mutants wherever they can find them. The surviving X-Men come up with a plan to send Hugh-Wolverine-into the past, to prevent the building of the Sentinels. It seems that Hugh is the only X-Man that could survive the trip, what with his unique healing factor. Peter-Bolivar Trask-creates the mutant hunting robots in 1973 and Jennifer-Mystique- assassinates him, which causes the speedy production of the Sentinels. Hugh has to jump back in time, get the younger versions of James-Charles Xavier-and Michael-Magneto-to help him find Jennifer and then stop her, before the Sentinels kill the last mutants in the bleak future. There are several new mutants to keep an eye on; Warpath, Blink and Quicksilver are a few and Quicksilver is a real scene stealer. There is also a scene after the end credits which sets up the next X-Men movie; it shows a brief glimpse of the next villain and his name starts with an "A". It's rated "PG-13" for violence, language and has a running time of 2 hours & 11 minutes. I really enjoyed this one and I would buy it on Blu-Ray.

Demo worthy disc with nice exclusive tchotchkes

As with the majority of big budget superhero films, this disc will make a great home theater demo disc, especially the Quicksilver sequence if one has a 3D home setup. However, this set is pretty light on extras compared to previous disc releases from this franchise. The Best Buy exclusive packaging includes a set of "confidential mutant files" from Trask Industries that features the film's characters with info on their powers and backstories along with a very cool Sentinel slipcase. Unfortunately, Singer's return to Fox's X-Franchise (while correcting many Marvel Comic fan's misgivings with some of the plot elements of film's past) still falls into the same trappings of underutilizing the team aspects of this Marvel property in lieu of focusing on Jackman's Wolverine. FYI, it has been announced that there will be an extended cut of the film released sometime in the near future with the previously cut Rogue subplot edited back into the film.

Xmen Days of Future Past 'Rogue Cut' is is a slightly different (longer) edit of the theatrical release. Though the Rogue Cut is by no means bad, I personally felt the theatrical cut is the better film. It's more focused and concentrates on the central plot points. Rogue Cut adds dialogue between some of the minor characters, and unnecessary dialogue among the lead characters... it doesn't contribute to the main storyline, nor does it really help character development. Also, note that Fox studio has begun re-issuing some recent Bluray releases. The older print (2014/2015) comes with an ITunes digital-HD code, which redeems as 4K/UHD. The newer Bluray release (2018) comes with a MoviesAnywhere digital-HD code -- it only redeems as HD (not 4K/UHD.) If this is important to you, make sure to inspect the back-cover of the Bluray -- if it says "MoviesAnywhere", then it's the newer (less desirable) print.

A nice but unnecessary extended cut

Bryan Singer says that this is a brand new version of the film, but let's be honest - he was probably fed that line by Fox in order to try to convince us to buy it. Did it work? Yeah. But after watching it, I absolutely understand why these extra scenes were cut, as they're a distraction from the main storyline. The part where Mystique comes back to the mansion secretly and has a moment with Beast wasn't needed either. I appreciate seeing the extra footage, but it could easily have been added in the deleted scenes section instead of this blatant cash grab - because the extra scenes don't make it its own unique version in the least. They were kind enough to add in new extras/features, however, which is the main reason I actually picked it up. For those of you who don't own the movie, this is an obvious buy since it contains both the Rogue Cut and the Theatrical Cut. For those who have bought the Theatrical Cut when it was first released, ask yourself if spending $15-20 (depending on when it's on sale) is worth it for some neat extras. Otherwise, you may wish to pass. Still a cautious recommendation.

    Great Movie. Decent 4k Conversion.

First off we love this movie. It's a great X-Men flick and basically another Wolverine movie. Only reason for not giving it five stars is the video is not from a new 4k HDR master, it is upconverted from the Blu-ray master, and the sound is the same from the Blu-ray release. While is is disappointing not have a new video master the picture looks quite good, not 4k popping good but good. It may be the old Blu-ray would look as good upconverted, so if you already own it you might want to hold off buying the 4K copy. We don't mind these failings too much since it's a movie we love and it looks a lot better the the X-Men First Class 4K disc. Again biggest gripe is FOX does not redeem 4K movie digital copies in 4k Digital, you will get the same HD digital copy you get with the regular blu-ray. This is a disappointment because so many other studios are trying to redeem there 4K blu-ray digital codes in 4k HDR. This will affect our future purchases of FOX 4k movies.

Not the standard edit. Like the black box version of The Wolverine, The Rogue Cut is the better draw of DoFP. It has both versions, and in my mind the Rogue Cut is more thorough. Sadly, theatre versions and misc. cuts exist. (I personally deem it a grand premeditated marketing scheme). Typically, the Director's Cut of a film is definitive and this one is no exception. It has a little more sentinel battle action and includes a welcome comeback of a familiar alum to the franchise, just in case you were tired of having Jackman's and Lawrence's current celebrity status smeared on every other scene. 7.1 Audio for people concerned about this. For my setup, I miss a little bit of low channel frequency during these types of playback, and dialogue seems quitter than when in 5.1 channel. But the picture will blow your mind, especially the digital effects for the future sentinels. Actually, get this over the 4K version as well, until they release the Rogue Cut on 4K Blu-ray.

The film itself is solid however this suffers from what a lot of early 4K releases struggled with: up scaling. For the most part the film is very sharp but compare this to Sam Raimi’s Spider Man that was shot on film and there is a huge difference in sharpness and clarity. Understand, this is not a bad 4K release, highlights do hold more depth and the digital effects do appear sharper in some areas. Overall, if this was rereleased with a new master, I’d purchase that.

Keep this BLU RAY despite re-release!

Ok so if you are a fan of this movie you should definitely get the Rogue Cut as it makes an already great film even a little better. But whether you see it as a positive or negative that edition does not carry over all the special features from this blu-ray so you gotta hang on to this one (unfortunately?) and not sell or trade it. As a blu ray in and of itself its a well put together release but there is a sense of double dipping as the studio knew they were going to release this title twice in a relatively short span. I feel the studios have gotten more fair in terms of just releasing an alternative version on the initial release (like Batman V Superman or the Logan black and white cut). Anyways we all know Days of Futures Past is great and arguably the best X-Men movie but my purpose of this review is for blu ray freaks to let them know there is content exclusive to this disc if you want all special features.

One of the Top X-Men Movies

Days of Future Past is one of the top-tier X-Men films. This movie does a commendable job of connecting both the original trilogy and the First Class cast into one film. Even though this movie really messed up the timeline (and makes it hard to watch the X-Men films in anything other than the release order), it still has solid acting and a decent script. The action set-pieces are good and everything seems to click. The Rogue Cut is a nice, longer version that completes the narrative a bit better. It has more content and even some completely altered scenes. The differences helped make the film easier and more fun to watch. The audio in Rogue Cut also seemed different, as I was able to hear slight changes in pre-existing scenes.

An interesting bridge from old to new

I'm never sure if people are looking for a straight up review of the movie or if it is worthy of a 3D price tag so I'll try to help with both. The quality of the 3D aspects of this movie are awesome. The depth and quality of backgrounds (which is usually lacking in 3D movies) were great and the action scenes were phenomenal. Overall I thought the movie was trying too hard and there was too much to follow. If you are a fan of the genre it isn't as difficult but the fast pace makes it hard to truly develop characters that are new and this movie just felt rushed. Even with that being said the movie was great. They could have made a 2 part movie with the amount of stuff they packed in but just like Avengers, there is a continuum that makes it unnecessary. I recommend buying the movie and watching it twice.
