Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the deep gameplay, touching story, and immersive world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, often praising the game's music as well. However, some find the voice acting and battle system to be challenging, while others point to occasional performance and resolution issues, particularly in handheld mode. The map's usability is also a source of some frustration for players.

The game is hard to get the hang of at first, but after it becomes really fun. The story is nice and funny.

This game is just BEAUTIFUL! Yes the combat system is different but it doesn’t mean you won’t understand it, there are tutorials in the beginning (and throughout the game) just like any other game. It definitely my favorite game to play on the switch and it can easily be played on handheld, definitely give it a try!

If you're looking for a lengthy and deep experience on the Switch, this game is great. Complex mechanics, interesting characters, great music, fun combat, and beautiful scenery. It can be slow to get going, but once it does (end of Chap 3), it's a thrill through to the end. There are TONS of side quests here to the point of almost becoming too much, but you can choose what interests you without feeling like you're missing out. The story is interesting, and there's a nod to the original if you're played it completely, although experience with the first game is totally not required. Highly recommend to any (J)RPG fans, especially since there's nothing else quite like it on the Switch yet.

Let me start off by saying that this game is not for everyone. The combat style can be confusing for some players, and the story, while not too bad,can not be for everyone. I personally like this game as I have played the other games in the series. I play in handheld mode, and the graphics do not suffer a lot.

I have not finished this game yet, but I am 12-16 hours in and I can say it is great so far! The game has a really intricate character stat systems which may or may not be super important to beating the game (if it follows past Xenoblade games, the answer is it does matter). Awesome scenery and while there is a lot of cliches on the characters and such, it works well even if it doesn't break the mold.

It's a really pretty game that I'd suggest playing on a 1080p TV. This JRPG allows you to control up to 3 companions (but you can have more following you) so You'll need to strategize how you are going to play the game. The story itself is good with cheesy, typical dialouge but It's a good game overall.

The graphics are great, the story is great, and the gameplay unfolds slowly to allow you to get a grasp on it as you go. The battle system is complex but accessible which is a feat in itself. This really shows the technical prowess of the devs and shows what is possible on the Switch, so far at least.

If you like RPGs and have the switch this is a must buy. The game shows you how to play as you go along the story. It has humor and the story is great. If you play on handheld mode you will notice resolution drop but the game is still payable. Also, you can go back to cut scenes you've unlocked too.

For some reason I had a hard time getting into the first Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. I still liked the first game but I wasn't able to stick with it long enough to get sucked in. I don't have the same issue with this game. I jumped right in and immediately racked up 60+ hours. There's so much to do that I'm sure I'll be putting in 200 or 300 before I'm done, especially since they just released New Game + in a game update and there's DLC too! I'm sure for those that aren't completionists that you can get through the story much faster than I am so don't worry if you're not interested in putting hundreds of hours into a game just to see the story.

Honestly I would say this is personally my favorite game on the switch thus far. This game is massive and there are so many hours you can spend in the main story quest alone, and even more in the side quests. The locations are gorgeous and the story is so engaging. I was turned off by the graphical style at first, but honestly it’s growing on me and I prefer it over the original now. The combat may seem pretty plain and boring as well, but it’s so much more in depth than it looks and it’s so satisfying. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves JRPGS or RPGS in general, and if you want a game to introduce you to the genre, I think this is the perfect game

This game is great for fans of the JRPG genre. It provides in depth character development within a massive game world. The action combat provides a difference the typical turn-based style. You may want to put in some more research on if you’ll like it if you’re hung up on it’s Anime setting.

I seriously love this game so much. It is one of my favorite games ever, and I never played any other Xeno game previously. I have the pro controller and definitely plan on playing the definitive edition of the first Xenoblade Chronicles on Switch. I really hope they make another game in Alrest, though. This world is so ridiculously amazing and the standalone DLC, Torna, is a fabulous play as well. The season pass was 100% worth it and more. If you enjoy RPGs or even just enjoy a great story with a ton of great characters, then get this game!!!

Cliche JRPG with many anime tropes if you enjoy that sort of thing you will enjoy the story and characters if not then you might get a little annoyed. Gameplay is fantastic the battles have multiple layers difficult battles can really be challenging.

The sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, the second game made some improvements, from the combat system to travelling in the world, and now you can play this robust jrpg anywhere, thanks to the Switch's feature.

I actually wasnt a huge fan of the Wii U Xenoblade but I played it. This one just seems to fit my tastes more for some reason. Not sure if I prefer the art style better or if it just works better for the portable mode. Game is a fun rpg, has a big map, looks great on my tv.

Nintendo Switch's Greatest jRPG of 2017

Nintendo and Monolithsoft dropped a bombshell in releasing a full-fledged jRPG during the first year of the Switch lifecycle, and the game does not disappoint. With great graphics and an engaging storyline that will keep you engaged for 100 hours or more, there is something here for casual fans and role-playing experts alike. Late in 2019, Nintendo announced that the original Xenoblade Chronicles will be remastered and also released on the Switch. I recommend playing the original first and then coming back to this sequel afterward.

Overall, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has been an addicting game. Its story is interesting and the combat is unique. That being said, the English voices/lip-syncing is horrible. If you are able to ignore it long enough, the game is really great.
