Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the deep gameplay, touching story, and immersive world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, often praising the game's music as well. However, some find the voice acting and battle system to be challenging, while others point to occasional performance and resolution issues, particularly in handheld mode. The map's usability is also a source of some frustration for players.

First off, the combination of the story and the gameplay really pulls you in the first time around. It’s a little tricky at first but after a couple of fights you’ll get the hang of it. There after it’s all about leveling up while following the story path. Unlike other games this one has several side quests that can be done which help improve the community in each respective zone, by buying and trading with vendors that rank increases further unlocking more side quests and developing what can and can’t be sold. There’s so much to do you’ll want to go out of your way to gather and hunt, overall you will get lost in this game, and you will have fun.

For some reason I had a hard time getting into the first Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. I still liked the first game but I wasn't able to stick with it long enough to get sucked in. I don't have the same issue with this game. I jumped right in and immediately racked up 60+ hours. There's so much to do that I'm sure I'll be putting in 200 or 300 before I'm done, especially since they just released New Game + in a game update and there's DLC too! I'm sure for those that aren't completionists that you can get through the story much faster than I am so don't worry if you're not interested in putting hundreds of hours into a game just to see the story.

    Amazing JRPG

Honestly I would say this is personally my favorite game on the switch thus far. This game is massive and there are so many hours you can spend in the main story quest alone, and even more in the side quests. The locations are gorgeous and the story is so engaging. I was turned off by the graphical style at first, but honestly it’s growing on me and I prefer it over the original now. The combat may seem pretty plain and boring as well, but it’s so much more in depth than it looks and it’s so satisfying. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves JRPGS or RPGS in general, and if you want a game to introduce you to the genre, I think this is the perfect game

A great collection for the Switch. You will feel like you're embarking on an epic journey through its astronomical lively open-world. Great story, combat, and overall brilliant game.

This game is great for fans of the JRPG genre. It provides in depth character development within a massive game world. The action combat provides a difference the typical turn-based style. You may want to put in some more research on if you’ll like it if you’re hung up on it’s Anime setting.

I seriously love this game so much. It is one of my favorite games ever, and I never played any other Xeno game previously. I have the pro controller and definitely plan on playing the definitive edition of the first Xenoblade Chronicles on Switch. I really hope they make another game in Alrest, though. This world is so ridiculously amazing and the standalone DLC, Torna, is a fabulous play as well. The season pass was 100% worth it and more. If you enjoy RPGs or even just enjoy a great story with a ton of great characters, then get this game!!!

I actually wasnt a huge fan of the Wii U Xenoblade but I played it. This one just seems to fit my tastes more for some reason. Not sure if I prefer the art style better or if it just works better for the portable mode. Game is a fun rpg, has a big map, looks great on my tv.

Nintendo Switch's Greatest jRPG of 2017

Nintendo and Monolithsoft dropped a bombshell in releasing a full-fledged jRPG during the first year of the Switch lifecycle, and the game does not disappoint. With great graphics and an engaging storyline that will keep you engaged for 100 hours or more, there is something here for casual fans and role-playing experts alike. Late in 2019, Nintendo announced that the original Xenoblade Chronicles will be remastered and also released on the Switch. I recommend playing the original first and then coming back to this sequel afterward.

There are some really great things about the game. The combat is fun. There's tons to do. Some of the designs are really inventive. The story is great. The issue is that the start isn't very good, and there are a lot of small frustrations. The map isn't as useful as it should be. On launch, the compass was awful. The story is uneven, with the start being very cliche and 'anime' with a lot of annoying, immersion-breaking scenes. It picked up near the end, but the gameplay is the same way--the start is rough and not balanced well.

This is more of a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Cronicles than a sequel. However, the game is still fantastic. The game starts off a little slow but within no time you are exploring and fighting monsters. This is a must buy for any and all Switch players.

It's a game. It should be fun. It is. Job done. Specifically, there's a mildly interesting story that you follow to make your character(s) more and more powerful. The only comment I'd really say is that the game is a bit suggestive and it might not be appropriate depending on your family values. If you're concerned, look at some gameplay samples to get an idea.

If you're looking a gigantic JRPG for your Nintendo Switch look no further this is your game. It's very complex but don't let that put you off because the tutorials do a decent job of showing you the ropes. Plays like a single-player MMO in my opinion.

This game is a great follow up to the previous entires in the series. The fact I can resume play in portable mode is just convenient while away from the tv. Check this out for the Switch if your into jrpgs or rpgs in general. You won’t be disappointed.

This one is a really good game. I am not sure if it's as good as the original because I haven't finished it yet but so far so good. These games are very long and take many hours to complete. Overall a must own for JRPG fans that own a switch.

Good Story, but exhausting battle system

I’m about 60 hours in and maybe halfway through the story, and I’m hooked. The battle system took a little while to get and the “spongy” enemies (literally all of them have a massive amount of hp) can lead to boring sections in the early game, but once the pace of the story picks up it is hard to put the controller down (fortunately the system is extremely portable). I recommend this game for anyone interested in the Xenoblade series, but do warn newcomers that it can take a bit to get going. The scope of each region in the game is massive and the idea of exploring each corner of the world is definitely appealing. So far I’m loving it and believe I’ve only scratched the surface of the game so far.

Great game. Good game mechanics that add more items as the game goes on. You literally get new skills and mechanics added to gameplay 5 minutes in and 60 hours later. Great story and awesome sound track. Definitely not a short game.

This game has a very steep learning curve and isn't super helpful in teaching everything. After a few googles of how to unlock perks in your blades though, you'll eventually learn how to do all the various combos and driver combos.
