Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about Xenoblade Chronicles X's stunning graphics, fantastic gameplay, and expansive open world. Many also praised the compelling story and deep combat system, along with the extensive customization options. However, some players found the soundtrack unappealing and the text size too small. A few also mentioned challenges with the controls and the amount of time needed to level up.

A JRPG disguised as a MMORPG

This game is very hard to get into. There is little to no tutorial and the manual is so long it's difficult to remember everything. Players are left on their own to figure out how to perform effectively during combat. This is made even harder than it should be thanks to the small icons and fonts.

I am not the biggest fan of Japanese Role Playing Games. The Japanese style is a bit too foreign for my liking. That said, this was the first game that got me over the hump to give them a legitimate try. The concept is cool, but it is a repetitive grind that is missing true online play. If all you have is the WiiU, I highly recommend this game. If you have another console, I suggest giving a look to other games with more of an online presence.

I love the Xeno series ever since Xenogears (If it wasn't apparent by my username.) This one is definitely a great addition to your library.

I don't know how many great games the Wii U has left (other than Zelda, which is being made, in part, by the studio that made this game, so...that might be enough to sell you), but Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of 'em and great for anyone looking for a long (LONG), epic experience.

It's hard to believe but this is one of the most intense and fun RPGs to come out in a long time. Easily supassing Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII this game has everything an RPG lover could ask for. Giant robots, a large open world, and tons of customizable options.

A giant waste of time and not even fun

As a huge Nintendo fan since the beginning, I have to say this game is absolutely awful. Don't waste your time or money on this. It's a giant waste of time. It's not satisfying. And it's not fun. There's so much dead time in the game where you're just supposed to wander around the giant world they created farming for experience points. Aka a giant waste of time. That's all this game is. If you want to wander around a giant virtual world and just farm for experience, that's essentially what this game is in my eyes. There's a story mode to the game that you can't progress if you don't farm enough. So just farm and farm and when you qualify to go to the next chapter in the main story, you can open it up and start that. The game is easy if you have the patience to just wander around and farm for hours. The story itself is awful. Like really abstract and dumb. Really, really, dumb. Not even grounded in a realistic way of thinking or viewing things. On top of that, one super annoying thing they do (at least in the American version of the game I can say), is like almost all the important cut scenes play music SO LOUD that you CAN'T even HEAR the characters in the cut scene talking. That's why I think they put subtitles in the game that you can enable or disable. Trust me, if you end up wasting your time and money playing this awful game, you'll have to enable the subtitles otherwise you won't even be able hear what the characters are actually saying over the awful LOUD LOUD LOUD BACKGROUND music, which isn't background at all. It's like the background music is made the foreground and the foreground dialog is reduced in volume ratio to background. No changing of the TV volume can make up for this ratio. Is the music supposed to make it dramatic or something? I don't get it. You can't even appreciate the visuals of the cut scene because your eyes have to stay on reading the subtitles. And again, the story is awful on top of that. A the game is a waste of time. And all the side missions are a waste of time. You're better off getting your friend to throw a bone in your backyard for you and telling you to go fetch. Then bring that bone back and have your friend throw it again and fetch again. Repeat the process until you realize how dumb the process is. That's what this game is like to me. Go fetch. Awful story. And pretty bad gameplay too. You get wayyyyy too many characters too. Anyway, this is all my opinion. It's a shame because Nintendo is a great company with a great history overall but they want to make these awful executive decisions. Nintendo needs to stop making RPG's like this and needs to make RPG's like Super Mario RPG (not lame paper Mario), and Chrono Trigger. For Zelda it needs to go back to Ocarina of time style. I heard for the upcoming Zelda they want to make it an open world and not dungeon based and I have a feeling it's going to be super slow and boring like skyward sword was. Probably more go fetching side quests with no fulfillment. And so many people got smash 4 because they thought it was going to be like n64 smash or melee smash (melee being one of the best games of all time). But nope, Nintendo made it into a really dumb casual game instead of catering to their audience that has stuck with them through the generations. The audience that made smash melee their best selling game on gamecube when gamecube was a really weak system. I'm not getting a smash 5 unless one month after it's already out people are saying it is like melee. Same for Zelda. And I didn't play the first xenoblade but this one was not fun. They should make FUN rpgs. So many people want a true Mario RPG 2. Or another Chrono game. Not this. Xenoblade chronicles X is not fun and a waste of time. Don't buy it based on hype like I did. Nintendo is a great company and I thank it for some really great things in it's past, but it also has a history of going off in completely the wrong direction from time to time (like the wii controller is a gimmick the gets old fast). Anyway, this is one of those cases. And don't get me started on Microsoft xbox and sony playstation because those are far worse than Nintendo. I'm just saying this game was awful. If you want a fun Nintendo game, Super Mario Maker is awesome (and isn't charging for DLC). Anyway, this is all just my opinion. You do what you want. And thanks to bestbuy for the $10 pizza credit on the preorder. I was going to buy this game from somewhere else but when I heard you were offering the pizza I canceled my preorder at the other place and preordered from bestbuy =)

This is the only game I have wanted to play on my wife's WiiU. But now I can't get her off the game so I can play. I've only played a few hours, but it has been enjoyable. I dislike setting up characters in the beginning, but I guess Nintendo is known for that.

This game is a great choice if you're into sci-fi. The design of the creatures in game are all awesome and the landscape of the world is beautiful. This game has a strong story and the battle mechanics are very nice and smooth. Overall, easy to get addicted to.
