Customers are saying
Customers are overwhelmingly positive about Yakuza 0's gameplay, story, and the sheer amount of content, including side quests and mini-games. Many appreciate the unique fighting styles and the immersive Japanese-inspired open world. However, some players expressed minor concerns regarding the subtitles and controls, while others found the frequency of cutscenes to be excessive. Overall, the positive feedback on the core gameplay loop significantly outweighs the negative comments.

A Humorous Japanese Brawler
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first foray into the Yakuza video-game world. What better way to start then with a prequel. I'm 70hrs in and having a blast. This game was released on PS3 in Japan. It's cool that they decided to translate the text and release it stateside. You can tell it's a last gen engine with a little current gen visual crispness to it. Can't wait for the remake of the original coming this summer and the 6th game in the series next year.

Lots of cut scenes and no dub, but still great fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've loved the Yakuza series since it hit on PS2 10 years ago. This one is a prequel so you don't need to have played any of the prior games in the series to get involved. It features significantly upgraded graphics compared to the old ones but the gameplay is still very close to how it was on the PS2. I miss the Hollywood quality voice actors that were brought in for other games in the series. I don't mind subtitles, but there is so much action I'd prefer to have voices and not have to keep my eyes glued to the bottom of the screen. Gameplay is classic Yakuza- openish world, lots of mini games, cool fighting engine, tons of side quests. Tight gameplay. Lots of moves to upgrade and purchase.

So weird, and yet so fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game oozes Japanese culture. But if your interested in it, chances are you already knew that. I find this game bizzare, entertaining, and engaging, all in one. The fighting is really fun, and there is tons to do in this game. The characters are strange and wonderful, and the settings are colorful and exotic. This is a soap opera for adults. If you have ever wanted to get into the Yakuza series, this is the place to start.

Shenmue meets Sleeping Dogs kinda!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game's like Shenmue but for mature audiences. Like a Japanese version of Mafia 3, but way better! Good graphics, sound effects & story. Great import turned into a western English release.

A Strange Journey In Japan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game provides a look at the 1980s through the strange world of Yakuza. The plot takes center stage as an enforcer for the Yakuza is blamed for a murder that he didn't commit. This provides the basis for what will happen for the entire Yakuza series. Strange moments from being a movie producer, to dancing with pop stars, this game maintains two different tones (serious drama and comedy) successfully.

Another fun Game in Yakuza series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note that this game takes place before the previous Yakuza games so it can be played without playing the others first, if for some reason you missed them. For fans of the previous game it is also highly recommended. There is plenty to do in this game and plenty of combat which is fun. The graphics are good although it is important to note that they were done almost 2 years ago when this game released in Japan.

Take a Trip to Japan in the 80’s
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend this game. Really interesting setting and story. Minus one star for controls. Doesn’t quite seem fluid enough. Overall I’m satisfied with the purchase.

10/10
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is fantastic. I only bought it recently, so I haven't racked up many hours yet, but there is an air of satire and comedy genius that adds to an action-packed, gangster type of game. There are so many hidden aspects to the game and discovering them is what really makes the experience. Additionally, the atmosphere of Japanese culture is so immersive. This game is so good.

Play it for the Story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yakuza 0 is a really great setup for the series. Succinctly, I would say that the combat, which is a heavily featured activity in the game, is good at best. Random encounters grew tiresome toward the end of the game, however, since the main quest line is pretty dang interesting, it was an easy thing to forgive. The two main characters you play as are well written and serve to show the origin of their characters which develops further in the other games of the series. The only hesitation I'd offer is that if you're looking for a deep combat system, look elsewhere, but if you want a cool crime story then this is for you - very well executed on the whole.
