Customers are saying
Customers are overwhelmingly positive about Yakuza 0's gameplay, story, and the sheer amount of content, including side quests and mini-games. Many appreciate the unique fighting styles and the immersive Japanese-inspired open world. However, some players expressed minor concerns regarding the subtitles and controls, while others found the frequency of cutscenes to be excessive. Overall, the positive feedback on the core gameplay loop significantly outweighs the negative comments.

Worth a full $60 purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yakuza 0 surprised me. It gave me one of the best stories I've ever played in video games, and made me a lifelong fan of the franchise. It's got so much content in the form of insanely funny and quirky side quests, to full-on mini-games that could be sold as their own game. After finishing it, I stood up and went to Best Buy and bought the next game, that's how much I loved it. Check it out.

Great introduction to the series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another fantastic entry in the Yakuza series. This is the perfect game for anyone who is interested in the series, but didn't want to jump in the middle. This is a prequel and doesn't reference any of the of the later games (Yakuza 1-6). There's an interesting story and plenty of extra stuff to do to keep you entertained. If you like this game don't forget the remake of Yakuza 1 (Yakuza Kiwami) is releasing later this year.

Fantastic entry to begin the series as a newcomer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yakuza 0 explores the origins of 2 of the most beloved characters in the Yakuza franchise: Kiryu and Majima. You get to play as both characters and fight your way through different yakuza forces in order to solve a giant intertwining mystery. The combat is fantastic with 3 different battle styles for each character, and the story will put you to tears, be it for sadness or happiness.

Must buy if you are a fan of the Yakuza series
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While Yakuza hasn't evolved much in the past few years in terms of gameplay, this game is very much a refinement of the same concept. Combat is still satisfying, story is engaging, and the world is still a joy to explore. You can also find this game for an awesome price on sale these days. One of the best beat-em up style games I've played.

Nothing short of an amazing game
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into this game for the most part expecting a Japanese style GTA type of game but in the end it was much more than that. A deep brawler style type of gameplay complete with so much to do in the open world you occupy and a great story that keeps you hooked to the main narrative. If you're on the fence, pull the trigger and get this game!

4 star game, 5 star bonus items
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cutting to the chase - this is an average Yakuza game in the long series (not counting the zombie ones). It is the best looking one because it is on PS4 and the prologue story is good. However, all the stuff you can do get a bit boring and are not executed as well as earlier games in the series. For the bonus items in this business edition - these are cool things to have, so if you are a fan of the series, get it before it is gone. I'm a little bit upset Sega used a cheap and thin cardboard box to hold these contents. The top part of the box is hollow and it makes it too easy to dent and crease the box. Otherwise, it is a nice "special edition".

Great blend of action and a ridiculous story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been interested in the Yakuza series for a few years and after hearing that 0 is the best installment, I finally jumped into it... and I'm glad I did! I absolutely loved the crazy story (especially Majima's side of it) and the different approaches to fighting. I do think the combat became a bit repetitive at times, but it never got to the point where I was bored.

Get this game
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yakuza games are excellent. If you enjoy role-playing games, Japan, gangsters, a serious story, goofy moments to alleviate the serious moments, etc. then get this game. Even if you don't find these thing interesting, please give it a try. It's not just GTA in Japan like people say, it's much more.

Great Game
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably one of the best games I have ever played. The story is excellent and there are tons of things to do in the game like mini games and side stories. I easily reached over 100 hours in the game and still have things I want to go back and do. This game is worth it for the value alone.

Good old fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It brings you back to the old days when games were different...and fun. The story is a prequel, kinda like what the Star Wars franchise did with episodes I, II and III. The main game and its fighting is still enjoyable. The side games, mini-games are fun and off the beaten path. Some may consider this type of game strange, but yet after so many iterations of Yakuza, I cannot really say that with a straight face. If you have enjoyed Yakuza, then this one should be a no-brainer for you. If this is the first time you are considering this series, then Yakuza 0 is a perfect entry.

Still a good series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned all the yakuza games at one point, besides the zombie one. This game still feels like all the other ones. Great story and fighting mechanics. You still won't run out of things to do for quite a while, tons of side missions and mini games to keep you entertained and keeps the game from getting stale. But this one is missing something, the battles don't feel like they did. Trying to use the cool finisher moves starts to feel like a task and not fun after a bit. It does feel a little forced in this one, the old games made it feel like a reward. still a great game though.

This is a must play game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's hard for an open world game to have a ton of variety yet also have a gripping story. Yakuza 0 absolutely nails it with an engrossing story and dense world. There's so much side content with diverse minigames and well written side quests. As good as the side content is the main story is gripping enough to make it hard not to just mainline it at times.

My Favorite Yakuza so Far
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first Yakuza game I’ve ever played and I wish I played them sooner. This game is amazing. Kiryu is a bad a** and the story is so fun and full of action and comedy. This game has led me to play the other games in the series because I enjoyed it so much.

Contender for GOTY, Unexpected Greatness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having only played a few hours of Yakuza 3, I came into Yakuza 0 with some idea of what the series had to offer. Yakuza 0 has fantastic stories (even the side stories), fun gameplay, and a quirkiness that is just enjoyable to experience. Highly recommended, might actually be the most memorable game I played this year (played P5 and HZD).

Great story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is not very conventional. You kind of have to forgive some graphical quirks and characters only being voiced some of the time, but once you get over that, there is a great story that unfolds and fun gameplay. This is a game that you could easily breeze through the main story or get immersed in the world and play for a long time.

Excellent origin story.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want value for your money you just can not go wrong with this game. With over 100+ hours of gameplay the amount of things to do is just ridiculous. With an excellent story, equally excellent gameplay, and the perfect entry point for a long running series if you've never played a yakuza game, you owe it to yourself to play this game.

Japanese GTA at its best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have to say this game is awesome, and very well written. It's like a mix of Shenmue and GTA in one. Not as open world as GTA, but vastly larger in scope than Shenmue. With all kinds of mini games, and Japanese cultural aspects put it on top of a great story line, You have an awesome game with better focus than GTA in my opinion.
