If you’re familiar with Yakuza Zero or Yakuza Kiwami, you know what to expect. Story is generally serious and well-written drama with absurd comedy interspersed, usually from the side quests. There’s also a very thorough recap of Kiwami at the beginning, so you don’t necessarily need to have played the first game before this one.
Gameplay is solid 3D brawling, with a spread of updates built around 5 different types of experience points that can be gained from fighting or eating. Boss fights are still the biggest annoyance and weak point, but if you prepare with plenty of healing items you can push through. Still not enough to bother the overall experience.
Great game overall. And the steel book case is a solid plus, with nice artwork inside and out. A+ purchase.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 improves in every way upon a loved and sought after PlayStation 2 classic. The game is full of fun and emotion. It slightly falls short of Yakuza 6 but is more than worth your time. Think of it as "Final Fantasy, whoop-a** edition." Continuing the updated story begun by Yakuza 0 and the first Kiwami ties the saga together in this console generation. If you are a fan of Kiryu (or Majima), you need to experience this story.

Following the events of Kiwami, Kiwami 2 remakes the PS2's Yakuza 2. While there are some music changes that do ultimately damage the atmosphere, Kiwami 2 is adapting the strongest story in the series so it comes off fantastic nonetheless.
It's also worth mentioning that Kiwami 2 uses 6's engine, giving the game a more beautiful and refined feel.

The Yakuza series is a ton of fun. It's a fun 3D beat 'em up with a fun story and interesting characters. There are a lot of side stories and mini games in this and every Yakuza game. You get a great deal of value for the money.

I never got to play the original Yakuza 2 game for the Ps2 but as a new fan to the series this was a great remake. It uses the same engine from Yakuza 6, allowing the game play to be much smoother in transitions and the rag doll physics in the fights are super fun and funny to see. The story is amazing and it hooks you in like every other Yakuza game. The side missions are also hilarious. For example, a rival Yakuza family has this weird fantasy of being a baby and drags you along for the ride and hilarity ensues. I will recommend this game for everyone who wants to try out something new with a long playtime and of course, the fans of the series.

Chances are if you're this deep into the Yakuza series you already know what makes the series great. What seperates this from the dragon engine in Yakuza 6 is Kiryu doesn't feel like he's anchored down when fighting anymore. Movements are much more fluid, many heat moves make a return along with new ones & you can now stash weapons you find during a fight for the future. The story is great as with every yakuza entry, the big change is in the gameplay. It feels much more snappy/responsive like in zero but with improved physics & visuals of the new engine.

First off, I never played the original PS2 games in this series. I discovered it last year when I got Kiwami 1 only because it was marked down to $13. I fell in love with the Yakuza games. I was excited to get this one and I was not disappointed. Looks great on PS4. The story is is amazing. As dark and gritty or as goofy as you want it. Stick to the main story line if you want to keep it serious. Do a side mission if you need something light to break the tension if you need it. Awesome martial arts action to boot.

Yakuza 6 felt incomplete. Like they rushed the game out. Kiwami 2 while a remake of Yakuza 2 feels like a more refined version of Yakuza 6. It uses the same engine that was introduced in 6 and fleshes it out. There are more locations in Kiwami 2 than 6 and the combat is way smoother. Most importantly, Kiryu's heat moves are back. Most of his attacks were missing in Yakuza 6, probably cus the game was rushed. But Kiwami 2 brings back most of his heat moves from the previous games.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of an older game from the PS2 era, but it has been completely redone on Sega's modern engine. After Kiryu tries to stay out of Yakuza business, he is pulled back into the underworld to try to prevent an all-out war.
If you played the prior remake, you know what to expect here as far as wacky side missions, plenty of brawling action, and a heavy focus on story.
As long as the remakes keep coming, I will keep buying them.

It goes without saying that the Yakuza series is one of the best from the PS2 era, however questionable localization left the series with poor representation in the west. Thankfully Sega has been fixing this with the completely reworked Kiwami versions of Yauza. Brand new realistic graphics, buttery smooth combat thats a mix of Shenmue and Streets of Rage all with a dramatic mafia story with memorable characters!

Yakuza Kiwami 2 takes the original Yakuza 2 and elevates it in every single way. Better graphics, better world, better combat, and even a better story. A brand new side story is also added to expand on the events of the second game. I have beaten this game and it is honestly one of the best in the series. Whether you're new to Yakuza or a veteran, you should definitely pick this up.

A amazing story, crazy silly fun minigames, and some of the most serious and silliest sidequest. This game also the same game engine as yakuza 6, so you'll be right at home with this if you have played that. It's just a game you have to experience to understand what this series is about.
Also the steelbook is absolutely gorgeous.

I recently got into the Yakuza series with 0. This is a remake of Yakuza 2, originally released on PS2, with updated graphics and mechanics. The main story is great, and the side stories are a great comedic relief from the serious crime drama.
Lots of fun. Good time for all. I am having a very good time.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an upgraded Yakuza 2 and it does not disappoint. You get the graphics and interface of Yakuza 6 with this remastered version. There is another three chapters with Majima as an added bonus that add to the story as well. If you are a fan of the series then this is a must buy.
