For people have Ps5, just buy ps4 version. It's free upgrade to ps5 version. It's 40$ now, and you will get one steelbook include with the game + 1 steelbook free gift from Bestbuy. So there are no reason to buy a ps5 version.

I bought this on a sale way after the release hoping I could get at least one of the steelbooks and received both! They came in great condition and loaded up fine on my Ps4. As a collector of the series I recommend it even without the steelbooks.

This is the first Yakuza game where Sega decided to add stop time action like the classic Final Fantasy 7 so fans that are used to controing their character into actually attacking wont be attacking and using commands RPG style. However, some game style are still back to let you play go kart style, playing Sega classic arcade games and singjng karaoke. So overall, this is still a great game and must buy!

I actually grew to like the fighting mechanics which is completely different then the other free flow fighting style of the other yakuza games. You select an action one character at a time, to attack, heal, usse an item or special.I love the humor and story of this series. I got the steelcase free

They shipped the steelbook in the box which was good, the game was fun and awesome. The turn base fighting wasn't so bad, you can set it on auto and they'll fight themselves or you can manually pick the fighting moves like pokemon. Love this game!

The absolute best game in the series. You don't need to play any of the others to understand anything in this game. Everything is self-contained but if you have played the previous entries, there may be some guest characters that make an appearance. This one is also a turn based RPG compared to the previous entries but I found that refreshing and extremely fun. The closest game I could compare the combat to is South Park the Stick of Truth. This game also is extremely funny in terms of enemy character design and the substories present. This game also includes a free PS5 upgrade. Absolutely buy it!

Yakuza going full simple turn based RPG is a treat to play. With this entry they changed and it was a good idea, the story is on point and the classes and dialogue to characters gives the franchise a fresh of breath air. I will say, the graphics look good but at times some items pop out in background can give it a rough look. Gameplay is super simple not much to really think about buy better armor do quest for better material and grind here and there. Story 8.7/10 Gameplay 8.8/10 Graphics 8.4/10 Replay Value 6/10(Once you beat it there is not much to do, unless you chasing a platinum)

For starters, this game is technically "Yakuza 7" for people who are not familiar with the Yakuza series. I have played Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, and Kiwami 2. Like a Dragon keeps the same serious tone of the Yakuza series while implementing more comedic relief than usual compared to previous titles. Like a Dragon implements a new fighting mechanic where it is strictly turn based compared to a classic beat em style of gameplay. Having played previous titles, in my opinion, a turn based fighting mechanic is a refreshing take. Some may be adamant that turn based fighting is outdated in modern gaming that actually led to some reviewing the game less favorably. However, the game does a good job of keeping things entertaining despite being turn based. One word of warning is that the game follows classic J-RPG mechanics where "grinding" may be necessary to progress forward in the story without being overpowered by enemies. If you are a Trophy hunter, grinding will be something you will be doing often not just for leveling up but also crafting gear for your characters. All in all, the storyline is refreshing with some minor similarities to Kiryu's story in Yakuza 1 in the beginning. As for spoilers, since the game is Yakuza 7, there will be characters/events mentioned in the game that will be relevant to veteran players. Some characters introduced may be a spoiler for players who have not played any Yakuza games before this one. If you plan to play the whole saga, this may be something to think about before starting 7. If you are still in the fence or have never played a Yakuza game, I highly recommend Judgment (cheaper) to introduce you to what Yakuza has to offer. This game is a good starting point but just know the risk of some spoilers in game. You can expect at least 30 hours rushing this game only playing the main storyline with some activities/side stories!

A New Take on a Classic Series

What a fun game this is. I love the base Yakuza series and its rich lore and setting, but this game elevated that to another level. Introducing a new protagonist and a new setting, that leaves a lot to be created and the team delivers. The combat was a little harder to get into in my opinion but I quickly got the hang of it and it’s a welcome edition to the series, as well as English voiceover, which is again a first in the series.

This is the most insanely over the top, ridiculous, fantastic, hilarious game to come out in 2020 and you should buy it. Even if you have never played a Yakuza game before, you should get this. It's that good. It's not a graphic powerhouse or anything, but the game is just plain fun. Combat is turn based which is unlike other Yakuza games, but it works well. Occasionally the environment gets a little annoying ans characters get caught on things briefly, but overall it's a solid battle system. Side Quests are plentiful. There are tons and tons of side quests and they are really great. Who doesn't like feeding people Kimichi and watching what happens? I have found one side quest that I am unable to access for some reason. I can't talk to the person and it won't trigger the quest. Seems bugged, but everything else has been fine. You also can do Kart racing, quests where you are the hero for people and run your own business. There is truly a massive amount of side content from the main story. Main story is fun as well. Some nice little twists and turns. I've been playing the game on a Playstation 5 and haven't encountered any issues. Supposedly the PS5 version of this is coming in March 2021. I did read that the saves from the PS4 version won't transfer over for some reason though. So, be aware of that if you anticipate starting it and moving over to the PS5 version. I figure I will be done with it before that version is out so not a big deal to me. Highly recommend this game. If not my favorite, it's definitely near the top.

Great game so far with 8 hours in. A more RPG styled game in the Yakuza series but quick paced battles and some great side stories so far and a different method of stat development. If you've ever played a Yakuza game or had a slight interest in the series, get this one. It may take place chronologically after the previous 6 games but it has a brand new protagonist and does not require playing the old games to understand what is happening. The dub is excellent and the cast is doing a wonderful job. In case others are wondering, the BB exclusive steelbook that was free with purchase is the same design as the Day Ichi Edition but with the inside and outside essentially switched.

I just wanna start off this review by saying K have not finished this game. But I have played A LOT of it to have a pretty good opinion on it. Pros •Story-Yakuza stories are always great. Full of humor, action, twists and turns in the narrative. It’s “slow burn” style of plot execution pays off both in short term and long term reveals. •Battle System-Unlike previous Yakuza games, combat takes place in a turn-based JRPG-style of combat. As “weird” as this is to tho k for a series like this, it actually works phenomenal! It’s very quick In terms of animations and how it progresses, and is also easy to pick up and learn. •Trophies/Achievements-Possibly the easiest list of achievements in a Yakuza game to date. Most are story related and none are about doing the hardcore mini games found in the open world. Cons •The game’s storyline is (at this point of writing, Chapter 4) mostly cutscenes. Yes, there is gameplay sprinkled in here and there, but the game’s narrative and character development in scenes takes center stage. I’d argue though that this structure has always been a Yakuza-focus, but in this one it feels more cutscene than gameplay.

Amazing story, excellent characters, and classic JRPG turn-based combat. Only complaint: some of the stats/mechanics are not detailed well enough in the in-game manual/tips. (in other words: you'll likely find yourself having to google what a character stat actually *does*)

Can a series come back with not only switching the protagonist but also switching the entire style of the game? YES! If you have played and enjoyed the previous Yakuza games just stop reading and go buy it. If you're just dipping your toes in it, or have just played Yakuza Zero / Kiwami, this is a pretty great turn based game like older rpgs like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Ichiban, the protagonist, is endearing. The story is engaging and I cared about all the side characters. Like all Yakuza stories though, it plays a bit guided until a few chapters in, and then the open world fully opens. One of the best games of the year.
