Fast, quiet, and pretty easy to install
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the fastest and quietest electronic door lock i have had yet! Install was easy, wifi setup should be faster but easy to follow. Trick is to only use the QR codes on the side of the lock not the wifi module. Also, was only aboe to connect the lock to my 2.5g network. Took me 3 fails to realize that was the issue.

Keyless smart lock with added features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yale Assure Lock 2 is a key-free smart lock with plenty of features that is easy to install and provides security with convenience. The installation was a breeze while the packaging was neatly done and included the smart lock and deadbolt, Wi-Fi smart module, DoorSense hardware, mounting hardware, 4 AA batteries and instruction manual. The lock is a Grade 2 certified device, which is the residential security industry standard. There is no physical key included with this lock, nor can you use one to operate it. To use the remote features, you will need to insert the included Wi-Fi module into the lock and install Yale Access app. The app is your key to control the lock, customize the settings, share access with guests as well as real-time notifications. You also get 24x7 access to any activity from the lock and see who accessed when. The lock is compatible with a wide range of smart home hubs like Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, etc. You can also use your Apple Watch to unlock the door, which comes in handy when your hands are full carrying things. The lock operates using the 4 AA batteries. According to Yale, the battery should last a few months of use. You can't check the status of the battery on the app. The lock itself will alert when the batteries are low and that is the only way to know. In case the batteries die, and you get locked out, you will need a 9V battery to connect at the bottom of the lock temporarily and unlock the door. I really wish there were some other way to unlock. The auto lock feature is handy. You do not need to worry about locking the door as soon as you close it. The Passage button on the interior side of the lock activates the passage mode where you can go in and out multiple times without the door auto locking when you close the door. For this to work, you will need to install the included DoorSense components following the provided instructions. Overall, if you are in the market to upgrade or replace your locks with a smart lock loaded with features, Yale Assure Lock 2 is something to be considered.

Great smart lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure Lock 2 is a great smart lock that provides security with the convenience of Wi-Fi. This smart lock is well built and has a nice sleek design. Installation is straightforward, and with the guidance of the Yale Access app, you should be up and running in about 30 minutes. While installation is fairly simple, you may need to make some adjustments. I had to adjust the strike plate on my door so the deadbolt could engage without obstruction. It is very important to make sure the dead bolt has clearance otherwise the smart lock will not function properly. I was able to make a quick adjustment with a flat head screw driver. There is a little tab on the door latch strike plate that will need to be adjusted accordingly. Once you get the lock properly installed the app will take you through the connection process. I had no problems with the app and everything has been working great. You can remote unlock, create pins for guests, track activity and more with the app. It has been a great experience so far. One other tip I'd like to provide is to make sure the cable you connect during install is firmly in place. I initially did not push it all the way in and I had some issues. Other than that, the lock has been excellent so far and I definitely recommend this smart lock.

A Great Smart Lock w/ Looks! (once it’s set up)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to smart lock features, this has a ton from an auto-unlock feature, being able to unlock it with my Apple Watch, connected features like being able to check on your door status, remote unlocking/locking, guest users, it really has anything and everything that one would need. When it comes to setup, they have very well thought out instructions through their Yale app. You simply scan a QR code, it identifies your lock, and off you go. The installation procedure is very straight forward but pairing with the app and calibration was a bit frustrating, but I figured it out in the end. For installation, you’ll simply remove your existing deadbolt, install the keypad, the deadbolt, and then the back plate and rotating lock. Installation of the hardware took about 20 minutes. If your door and existing holes for the deadbolt match the out of the box configuration, all you should really need is a screwdriver. My house is about 15 years old and I did not have to do any special drilling, boring, or anything like that. From there you’ll need to set it up with the Yale app. This was the part of the process that wasn’t as easy. Initially, the app could not find the lock via bluetooth. After resetting my bluetooth on my phone it found it. That part could have very well been my phone and not the lock, so no points docked for that. After that it will guide you through a calibration procedure where you’ll need to open, close, lock, and unlock the lock so it learns how far to engage the cylinder. Although the app was guiding me through the process, the lock wasn’t actually doing anything. I tried this repeatedly and it would always get stuck at the “Completing calibration” screen. I waited for up to 10 minutes on each attempt where that screen wouldn’t go away nor did I get an error message. After going through this procedure 3 times, I decided to do a factory reset on the lock and this did the trick. This time around, while going through the setup process it prompted for a firmware update and then the setup process was much smoother where the calibration process actually locked and unlocked the, well, lock and finally finished setup. After that hiccup, it works great. I absolutely love that I can just have it unlock automatically when I walk up to my door if I have my phone with me, the convenience of the keypad is obviously nice, and it’s great that I can invite guests by sharing access. The lock itself looks great too and I love the fact that the keypad is very subtle and doesn’t scream “smart lock”. Although I had some issues during setup I think this is a great product. I more just put that information in this review so others can benefit from it in case they run into the same issue. Just reset it to factory settings and it should be smooth sailing after that.

Convenient and Secure!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This digital deadbolt is super! It looks nice and functions just as expected! It was easy to install and get working. I had the project done in about 30 minutes total. The Yale Assure Lock 2 has performed flawlessly for me. It has always unlocked and locked my door reliably, and I have never had any problems with the battery life. I have also found the Yale Access app to be very easy to use. It is well-designed and intuitive, and it allows me to easily control my lock from anywhere. The Yale Assure Lock 2 is very easy to use. The touchscreen keypad is responsive and easy to read, and the Yale Access app is well-designed and intuitive. The auto-unlock feature is also very convenient. I love being able to walk up to my door and have it unlock automatically without having to fumble with my keys. I highly recommend the Yale Assure Lock 2 to anyone looking for a well-built, reliable, and easy-to-use smart lock. Doesn't work as intended
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this was a great lock at first. However, it isn't easy to use. I have tried to create a PIN to be able to use the keypad, but it won't save the PIN. Also, it worked for about a few weeks to remote unlock, but then it just stopped working. This has caused problems because there is no key. Living in an area where the power goes out from storms, it is often the only way to come in the house. My kids have been locked out because of it. I will never get a product that doesn't have a key.

Great Key Free Smart Lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been putting off smart locks for a number of years because I did not like the size profile of them. Much like when Fiber internet came out, the boxes installed were massive! It was because of the tech that was needed at the time was not fine tuned. As for this lock, now I am ok with the size overall, however, there are limits to this great lock system. I have normal Yale key locks in my house and they have been great and solid in my ownership of my house. They need little maintence and can hold up to a lot of Texas weather. I just installed this, so I can only say my initial impressions at this point, but for now, I do like this lock. For me, I installed this over my old fashioned Yale bolt lock. So the installation was pretty straight forward. The door is a standard door and the I was able to use everything except the strike plate because the one that came with the smart lock was very long and I would have needed to trim my doorframe which I will not do. So I decided to leave the old one in. It was from a Yale bolt lock system too, and I tested the bolt lock with the existing strike plate before I went too deep into the installation. I initially did the install using the included paper instuctions because it had the papers to tear out and take measurements, however, in progressing in one of the steps, where it says I should hear a click, I wasted over 15 minutes trying to hear this click. So I in turn, went to the video installation instructions in the app itself and it did not want me to wait and hear a click, but rather just screw in the pre screws into the mounting plate. That was a total waste of time! Anyway going forward with the install, everything lined up perfectly except for the wire. Again, in the installation instructions, on the video portion, it stated to slip the cord under the wire management. There was no clip on my device to do this. After I completed the install, which was about an hour total, it worked perfect and the app tested out the auto function and calibrated to make sure there was no friction to the strike plate. If you do, your battery life on this unit will deplete quicker than normal. In addition what was confusing was that there was no tutorial in how to use the keypad function. There was not instructions on either the video installation or enclosed paper install that mentioned the way to use and edit access codes. I mean how do you use it, how do you program it?? I had to do a search online and look at videos and found that you can create your access codes under your specific profile. There is no "Master" code. You can assign up to 200 different codes to different people, which is cool, but getting to this point was an impossible task. Where the hardware was nice and solid and looks premium to boot, the software experience is horrid. However, saying that, I was able to add this lock to my google home and also my alexa skills. It's nice to ask my assistant to see if my door was locked or not. There are a lot of features here but I will not go into details with them, but the most notable ones are the auto lock and auto unlock functions. The auto unlock is where you can set a timer of when you want to lock a device, if you forget to lock it. At first I thought I would use this, but I eventually turned this feature off. However, on the flip side, I did not initially turn on the auto unlock feature until I discovered that if I had my phone and you let your phone and app check your location, you can geofence this to open the lock automatically if your phone is nearby. Would I recommend this? Yes, but do your research and look at videos online on the install of this product to get a general idea before using the set instructions and getting super frustrated like I did.

Fantastic smart lock for your home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure Lock 2 smart lock has completely transformed the way I interact with my front door, providing a seamless blend of convenience and security that has made my life easier and safer. Right from the start, the Yale Assure Lock 2 impressed me with its hassle-free installation process. Even though I'm not particularly handy, I managed to set it up within minutes. I just watched a few installation videos on YouTube and I was good to go. The included step-by-step instructions were clear and easy to follow. It fits perfectly into my existing deadbolt slot, making it compatible with most doors. The lock also comes with all the necessary hardware, including the required tools and screws. The lock itself is sleek and modern, and its satin nickel finish adds a touch of elegance to my front door. The Assure Lock 2 feels robust and well-constructed, assuring me of its durability. The touchpad is responsive and backlit making it easy to use in low-light conditions. What truly sets the Yale Assure Lock 2 apart is its smart functionality. The lock is compatible with a wide range of smart home ecosystems, including Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. I can easily control and monitor my door from my iPhone, allowing me to lock and unlock it remotely. This has come in handy when I needed to grant access to guests or service providers while I'm away. The most useful feature for me is the ability to unlock the door with my Apple Watch. So now, when I go out jogging I no longer have to carry a key or phone with me, and I can quickly enter my house just by showing the Apple Watch to the Assure Lock. Of course, security is paramount when it comes to a smart lock, and the Yale Assure Lock 2 delivers in this regard. It uses 128-bit AES encryption to protect your data, and the integrated alarm system alerts you if there is any tampering or forced entry. The option to disable the touchscreen during vacations or extended absences adds an extra layer of security, which I appreciate. The lock is powered by four AA batteries. The lock can send notifications to my phone when the batteries are running low, ensuring I'm never locked out unexpectedly. In conclusion, the Yale Assure Lock 2 has exceeded my expectations in terms of convenience, security, and ease of use. It has truly made my daily life more convenient, and I have peace of mind knowing that my home is well-protected. If you're looking to upgrade your home security while embracing the benefits of smart technology, I highly recommend the Yale Assure Lock 2. It's a fantastic addition to any home.

Easy install, does exactly what its supposed to
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was actually fairly easy to install. The instructions this comes with are clear, and it comes with tear-out templates and measurements for selecting the correct screws or spacers, etc... And it also included a template if you were drilling holes for a new door, but I didn't need that. Then basically everything just slides in, and screws together. The metal plate for the door frame was bigger than what I had, so I had to cut a notch for the plate. I only did this, instead of keeping the old plate because the one that comes with this lock has a bigger hole, presumably to make sure it can lock automatically. Once installed on the door, there is another small piece that needs to attach to the frame that it uses to detect the door position. It has two installation options, one you drill a hole in the doorframe, and then it sits in the hole flush. I didn't have a drill bit to do this, so I had to go with the other option, which is awkwardly mount it on the side of the door frame, next to the lock (relative to when the door is closed). So it's this odd looking plastic bump on my doorframe now. App install and setup was painless. It did want a firmware update though, which took awhile, and was before it was on wifi, so needed my phone to be close, and also took a long time, meaning I was left hanging around by the door while the firmware update installed. But after that, the rest of the setup was easy and straightforward. Once it was all setup, it's worked quite flawlessly. I had to make some fixes to my door to ensure it could auto lock properly (door wasn't lined up well). But it detects the door opening and closing no problem, and is able to lock and unlock the door from the app. I can setup users and set the code in the app as well. The pin doesn't need to be 4 numbers, it can be longer for more security. Overall, really happy with this lock.

Great Smart lock with tons of features.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice functioning lock. Install was as expected - pretty straight forward and use basic tools. Once installed you have to download the app and setup. This was again straightforward and simple. There were two QR codes on the device - I apparently was trying to scan the wrong one! lol initially I did not setup the door sense but continued on. Setup was fairly quick in the app. Initial run through does a firmware check. Mine took about 3 min to complete This is my first "smart" lock that uses wifi - but this provided some nice features of unlocking the door remotely. A feature no other locks i own have. And I dont have to give them the code!! This wifi enables a plea Tura of feature - logging, alerts, notifications. Door status = all great sense of security and knowing the status of my lock The lock is sturdy. Has some weight to it. Finish seems to be clear coated - hope it lasts out in the direct sun light. nice seal to the door with the rubber membrane! There is no key - if the battery dies - you are locked out! This makes this a side entry door lock for me and thus why i removed a star. Otherwise, nice lock. Lots of features that i really like - digital keys and schedule timeouts on those! Appearance is nice.

Excellent Smart Lock
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Yale smartlock, so I knew I would not be dissapointed, and I was not! The Yale - Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Pushbutton Lock with Wi-Fi is first and foremost, a high-quality deadbolt security lock. I was impressed with the overall build quality. It is a heavy-duty lock tht just happens to be smart! Installation was really no more difficult than a standard dead-bolt. A couple screwdrivers, a little time and a little patience is all it took. Most anyone who is even remotely handy should have no problem. That said, if you do need help, they offer support via telephone and e-mail. One of my favorite things with this type of technology is in being able to create differnt codes for differnet needs. I am going ot use this on my vacation rental house so that I can have each guest use the last 4 numbers of their cell phone for access. ANd I can have it expire at a pre-determined time to help assure security and access. End of the day, this is an excellent option for ANY homeowner or renter. I would (and have)reccomend this to a friend.

Another solid product from Yale, buttons odd
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yale is one of, if not the, best smart lock companies. It has a long history in locks and delivers a good product overall. I would highly recommend the Assure Lock 2 but I do have a few minimal qualms that aren't deal breakers. Price: Overall quite competitive in the price market. As a brand new model is can be steep but it's not more than the top locks. Overtime, sales typically out this lock into a great price zone. Compared to an August lock, I would definitely pick this lock. Setup: The setup is immensely easy but can be cumbersome if you have not experience or limited ability to perform basic handy work. I would say the majority of people should have no difficulty installing this with the in depth guides and videos available to setup and install. Most homes will be able to seamlessly transition from their existing lock to the Yale lock. The length of install time will be quite variable depending on existing hardware. Features: I'm a huge fan of auto-lock. You can set the deadbolt to lock automatically once it's closed. If you pay for the upgrade to WiFi you have endless abilities to receive notifications, check status, and play around with access on the fly. This is great for those managing properties and frequently with access but personally I think bluetooth is typically your safest option in terms of the risk of some malicious access to the lock, which has yet to happen in the best smartlock companies. Eufy has been hacked before. Lock: Works well and seems secure. It's no Medeco. However, the no key option makes it much safer overall. Keypad: I have the button style model. I'm not sure why a button version was even created. For $20 difference it seems it would have made more sense to eliminate this option and I couldn't find a good reason why it's sold. Overall, I highly recommend this lock. The key-less, bluetooth only, and touchscreen option would be my personal recommendation.

Nice upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure Lock 2 is a nice upgrade from their first foray into smart locks. I have the first Yale Assure Lock on my back door and added this new one to my front door. The first and most noticeable changes are the keypad on the new lock is a bit more compact and there is no keylock, it’s a keyless lock with several options for using it. This is both a pro and a con…more on that in a bit. For installation, it’s pretty straightforward, you use the existing location for the deadbolt and replace with the hardware from Yale. App set up is also pretty simple and easy to follow. You do need to make sure everything is in tight and straight or you’ll have issues with the lock actually locking properly, plus you want it to look good aesthetically of course. Not having a key lock/key entry on this smart pad does give it a cleaner look but it also takes away a safety net. If the batteries in the smart lock die, you can’t use the app or the keypad to get it. There is a failsafe where you can use a 9-volt battery to unlock it, but that’s not exactly any easy thing to get your hands on, particularly if you’re outside, trying to get in. So, you get the cleaner, sleeker look, but just keep in mind that if your batteries in your lock die, your options are limited. Other than the battery issue, everything else works smoothly with the app, Bluetooth connectivity, and the lock itself (touch screen, push button, etc.)

No Apple Home Key only HomeKit compatible..
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the opportunity to use the new Yale assure lock 2 in my smart home. This has all the usual bells and whistles that you would expect from a smart lock including Wi-Fi so that you're able to check on your door status from outside of your home through the phone app which is what I found to be invaluable with an item like this. Though I did have some troubles setting up the app initially and had to update firmware in the end it worked appropriately. The app shows you who is locking and unlocking and logs it so that you're able to see what is going on as well as the status of your lock and the status of your door if you install the door sense sensor. This is very nice because if the door is left open for some reason you can set a timer in the app settings to let you know through the app that it is open as well as an auto lock timer which is awesome when you have to or want to trust your younger children with the responsibility of locking the door behind you when leaving because it gives you that peace of mind. The one thing I really don't like is that yes, it supports Apple HomeKit however it does not support Apple home key, so you cannot just tap your Apple Watch or phone to the lock to unlock it, you must use the app and it forces you to either go in and press a few presses which kind of defeats the purpose of not having a key, or you must grant precise GPS permission on the Yale app and set it to “always” to ensure that the door will unlock when you get home and get near the door. This seems OK but I know a lot of people out there not want to grant this permission due to privacy concerns as well as being a large drain on your phone battery because it's always pulling GPS data in the background. This is kind of a dealbreaker for me and some thing that I'd really like to have seen on this unit is including the Apple home key module to avoid all that nonsense. Another thing that really bothered me was that it seem to lose Wi-Fi connection randomly and well in the process of losing and regaining Wi-Fi it would not properly operate, not having a key and knowing its using batteries and eventually it will not function which gave me anxiety as to if it would work or not since there is no key it was a constant mental battle. Because of these two things and the fact that my home is fully revolved around things that integrate well with apple HomeKit and previously using apple home key (which this doesnt support) I don't think that I would recommend it to others until it gets updated again.

No more wondering if your doors are locked
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me the 1st thing that stood out, is that its a solid piece of hardware. That is definitely reassuring for a deadbolt. And, I love the fact that I don't need a separate hub to operate this in "smart" mode, unlike some of the other smart devices. I am one of those folks, who has to check twice to make sure the door is actually locked, and I hate it when I am already in the car, and my brain is gaslighting me into walking back and checking on the door again. But hey, no more, I can check through the app AND control through the app :). There are plenty of other features like guest access (you can put an end date and even set a recurring access), forcing password/biometric verification for lock access. If all smart features fail, there is always a direct access and numpad (however that numpad could be brighter). Wish the screen would be a brighter though, at the right time of the day, the numbers are a bit hard to read. The installation was pretty straight forward for me since I already had a deadbolt (non-smart), but it just fit in the pre-drilled holes. And once you add the optional (smart module for WiFi and voice assistant access), and the battery its up and running. I have tried to use it with Alexa as well, but by the time it actually takes action I already end up walking to the lock to see what's taking this long. Overall though I am really happy with the lock

It's a Yale
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plan on setting aside a good 30 minutes at least and be ready to follow detailed instructions. Is this a pro or a con? I've installed similar locks in the past that were much less detailed and didn't take nearly as long, however I did have some alignment problems. So while this one is much more detailed and takes longer, some things need the extra attention when installing. I'm not a professional door installer so maybe it's just me, but these instructions almost force you to take your time and get it right. Aside from the install, as far as features it's got all the standard ones, such as ability to assign temporary guests codes (as many as you want), wifi for remote access, works with your favorite assistant (Google Home, etc.), has proximity unlock (for when your hands are full), and auto lock as well as letting you know if the door is open (there's a sensor you install). All of these things work as advertised so far. It's not the fanciest looking, doesn't have any real standout features, and isn't super cheap or anything. But it works, and if it's in your price range and you can handle the detailed install, it's made by a company that's been doing locks for close to 200 years... so there's that reputation and it does what it's supposed to do.
