Very easy setup, assuming you have experience with this kind of stuff. Geo fencing unlock works great, easy when you have your hands full. Unlocking with your apple watch works as well.

I have the Yale Assure Lock SL (YRD256) at one of my vacation rental. I have been very happy with it. As soon as this new one came out, I decided to get it and give it a try. I had very high expectation for its elegant appearance and not having to have a separate bridge for the lock to connect to WiFi. There are a few things that made this a return: 1. The deadbolt is slightly longer than the original one, I had to chop off some wood on the door slab for the deadbolt plate to sit in so that the screw holes could align. 2. The WiFi connection is extremely unreliable and slow. To create a new passcode, it took me like one minute and it could often result in a lost connection message. 3. The deadbolt could easily gets stuck. And the lock will retry to lock it like crazy. I'm sorry but I have to return this and stick with my old Yale Assure SL.

Smart locks seem to be becoming more and more prevalent and I feel like we are finally getting to the point where they are now becoming a must buy. This lock by Yale has finally been able to give us a nice discreet appearance with all of the smart features you could possibly need all packed into an app with an easy to use user interface. Firstly, right out of the box you can tell it is a quality product as it is not made of simply cheap plastic and has that premium feel. I love the look of this lock as it is extremely discreet compared to the multitude of other smart locks out there. I think this is predominantly due to the key-free aspect of the lock as it eliminates the cylinder, which is preferred for me personally as it results in a more secure lock. The touchscreen works extremely well and the branding is nice and discreet. The ability to tap the logo on the lock to light up the screen is a nice feature to have at night as well. After getting it unboxed the installation was a breeze! I have installed a couple smart locks at this point and some are much easier than others and I will definitely say that this lock is definitely at the top of the list for ease of install. Then getting the app downloaded and connected to the lock was again just as easy. Again, the ease of setup always seems to be a major hurdle when it comes to smart devices to which I really feel like Yale has focused on this, both when it comes to the actual door hardware and software component within the app. After the quick setup I was finally able to play with the app some and discover all of the things that this lock allows you to do. The first thing I have to mention though is the user interface of the app as it is extremely straightforward and allows you to quickly get to what you are looking for. The features on this lock are all here including your basic key-free access which can be through the keypad, through the app (both on your phone or smartwatch), with voice assistant, and also through the auto-unlock feature which in my opinion is the most convenient and seamless as you don`t have to mess with the keypad or the app. Also within the app the ability to see if the lock is locked or unlocked is a feature that provides peace of mind both when at home and away. The final item I have to mention is the ability to setup temporary codes in the app as this is extremely helpful when you may be out of town or away because the app also provides a log that allows you to see when those temporary codes were used or you can even receive alerts as well. Overall, the discreet appearance of this lock along with the multitude of ways to unlock and lock the lock really set this smart lock apart from its competitors. The ability to provide temporary codes and see an activity feed of not only those temporary codes, but all activity is also a much appreciated feature. I don`t really know what else is left to be desired of a smart lock and for that reason I would not hesitate to recommend this smart lock!

This lock is too finicky to deal with. Had the Schlage and decided to upgrade because this lock had so much more. Well nothing but a headache since i installed it. Took ages to get it to "connect". Must have failed at least 7 times. Finally got it to work and then one day it decided to do nothing. Seems like the batteries it came with lasted about 2 days. problem solved....Nope. now I cant get it to connect to my phone via Bluetooth which means I have no way to control the settings on the lock. Have gone to customer support and they were no real help. Do yourself a favor stay away from this lock. Go for the Schlage. It worked for 8 years for me. Now I have to uninstall and return this thing. What a pain in the butt.

The lock didnt work for our door so in this case it was unadaptable

For several years I have been replacing standard locks and deadbolts with smart locks. After trying many, I have to say that this one is one of the smoothest operating locks of all of them. It was fairly simple to install but a word of caution, follow the instructions to the letter and you will not have a problem. This includes when to put the batteries in! Once installed, you will need to download the app. Follow the install instructions and then you will have to connect the lock to the app. Again, follow the instructions in order! I say this because I didn't initially but once I did it all went smoothly. The app is pretty easy to navigate. It will allow you to control more than one lock. It has an activity history that I am three weeks into and can see every time the door was locked and unlocked either through the code or someone turned the handle! You can also setup individual codes for each user. The lock itself is very sleek and would go well on any door. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were the connections I used but I understand there is also for a z-wave plugin but you might want to check availability. Overall this is a great lock that operates well looks good.
