Very good smart lock with good amount of features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this lock on my front door where I currently have a high security deadbolt (medeco, like Yale, also owned by Assa Abloy) on it with a keyed alike locking handle set. With my current lock, if we exit out of the front door and don’t carry a key, we would have to ask a family member to lock the deadbolt, the bottom handle set locks automatically. I was a bit concerned that this deadbolt wouldn’t work, as my front door requires a slight push (from the inside) to get the door to align so the deadbolt can latch into the other stationary door. It ended up working fine, the height and width of the deadbolt that slides into the other door is not as large as the Medeco deadbolt I replaced. Installation: Installation was easy since I was replacing a deadbolt. I simply removed the old one and installed the new lock. I didn’t install the DoorSense sensor, I would have to drill 2 small holes into my door and have this big white sensor on the inside of the door. Besides, it’s not like we often leave the door open unintentionally. Setup: With the lock installed, the app downloaded, I was able to get the lock setup. It went smoothly for the most part, I setup an account with the Yale Access app, the Bluetooth connected easily and I was able to add the lock to my “house” in the app. Initially, I did not have the Wi-Fi module installed. Without the wifi, I found the lock’s features weren’t really useful. For example, if I program the lock to notify me when someone locks or unlocks the door, I would have to be close enough for the Bluetooth to be connected. Usibility: The Assure 2 has many features and settings, smart alerts, auto-lock, auto-unlock, door ajar sensing (need to install sensor), and more. It’s also compatible with Apple HomeKit. I use the auto-lock feature, where if a family member fails to lock the deadbolt, it’ll automatically lock within the set time (2-30 mins) and the Smart Alerts, where you get a pop-up message on your phone when someone locks or unlocks the door. These settings need to be done with you physically close to the lock via Bluetooth connection. The auto lock feature works fine, while the Smart message didn’t work well for me, it seems to work only if I’m near the lock. I shared the unlock code with my family, they can simply unlock the door with the pin. I can also set it where the lock automatically unlocks as I walk up to the door. I can also unlock the lock using my Apple watch. If my family members wanted these features, they would need to download the app and setup their own account and login. I can probably just have them log in and I log into their phone, using my profile. After installing the Wi-Fi module, I can lock and unlock the lock from anywhere in my home or away from home, I don’t have to be within Bluetooth range. By the way, the Wi-Fi module operates on 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi band only. Conclusion: Overall, the lock is convenient to have in some ways, the biggest convenience is that we can lock the deadbolt without taking a key with us. In my situation, if no one else is home when I arrive home, I would have to carry a key for the handle set lock anyway (or enter via garage door), so swapping out the high security lock for the doesn’t make the most sense for me. Pros: 1. Smart lock, easily lock and unlock the door with your own custom code. 2. Smart notification features (door left open, someone locked or unlocked door). 3. Auto-lock after 2-30 minutes, in case family members forget to lock the door 4. Auto unlock if you’re nearby the lock. 5. With the Wi-Fi, I can unlock the deadbolt from anywhere. Cons 1. Notifications didn't always work.

Awesome for both security and ease.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is so great having both security and ease of access rolled into one lock. I have a two year old child that has learned to use the locks and has taken to locking me out in the garage a few times. Luckily, I have had my keys on me the few times he has done it so I was able to get back inside, but I knew it was only a matter of time till he did it again when I did not have my keys on me. Enter the Yale Assure Lock 2, since I have my cellphone on me way more than I have my house keys, this was a great way to ensure that my son never locked me out again. Since the Yale Assure Lock 2 has wifi capabilities, I can use my cellphone to unlock the door or I can use the keypad to unlock it. The lock was very easy to install and if you can change a lock, you can install the Yale Assure Lock 2. Connecting the lock to my wifi was also very simple and straight forward. The whole process only took me about 20 minutes start to finish. I love having the peasce of mind knowing that I will never have to worry about getting locked out of my house or forgetting to lock the door on my way out ever again.

Plan to spend some time installing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 of these locks. Installation for both of them was difficult for the professional installer. The help desk had to be called for each installation. Having said that the lock itself appears to do exactly as promised. Easy to connect to Wi-Fi and it looks very nice. I’ve only had them for about 3 weeks so we’ll see what happens. Expect to do YouTube and maybe call Yale while installing. Not a quick install.

Great lock, but be prepared for the install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received both the electronic lock and the Wi-Fi components and installed them successfully. Here is my experience. Lock and keypad- I had to do some very minor door alterations - the metal plate surrounding the actual bolt needed to be counter sunk into the door. The instructions say a chisel may be required. I have some experience putting in locks (observed many done but never done myself) and a chisel is a bit of a clunky tool for this if you’re not comfortable with it. I used a friend's Dremel and that was 1000x easier. The lock installed quickly and easily as per instructions. A small ‘gate’ was missing inside the housing that is to help guide the wire from the outside keypad to the inside housing. No negative effects seem to have happened by it being missing. Following the instructions to get the lock updated and fully installed had some hiccups that required us to call the helpline. The first two attempts ended in dropped connections but not sure the cause of the dropped lines. We did provide our phone number the second time and didn’t receive a call back after the disconnection. The third call was perfect and answered by a lovely helpful woman that solved all the problems very quickly! Total install at this point w chisels/calls and failed attempts at online install about 3 hours. Install of the Wi-Fi component was 4 minutes easy and without a hitch. Now my wife and I can unlock the door from Siberia if we need to. Love our new lock!

Very High Tech Lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very High Tech Lock! Who knew technology could be so convenient in unlocking your door?!? This lock has so many features I’m overwhelmed-in a good way! No fumbling for my keys to get inside my house when my hands are full-yes!! My husband was able to install the lock in less than an hour. Learning how to use it was pretty self explanatory. It has a touch screen and is wireless! The smart app allows you to program the lock with entry codes and so much more! You can check to make sure your door is locked from wherever in the world you might be! You can create unique codes for visitors or servicemen. It is 100% key free! If you have an Apple Watch you can unlock the door with it-amazing!!!! The lock comes with a lifetime warranty for the mechanical part and 1 year warranty for the electronics-nice perk! The satin nickel finish sleek and looks nice on my door. I wasn’t sure I would like it but I LOVE it! I placed mine on my side entry door that I use primarily-not my front door-but I might look to get additional for my other doors! 10/10

Perfect addition to my HomeKit setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used several brands of smartlocks between my house, rental properties and our AirBNB and this one is my favorite. I dont know too many that are compatible with HomeKit, which is my preferred hub for smart devices. I had a few issues when installing this and had to reach out to customer service to get them resolved. Customer service was extremely helpful and went through the entire setup process with me and stayed on the phone to make sure everything was operational. It was later determined that is was user error. I installed the lock with no problem as I was replacing an existing deadbolt. When I began setting it up with the app and adding it to HomeKit, I didnt realize that I had scanned the wrong HomeKit code. The code I scanned was for the module and not the lock itself. It was a simple mistake that cost me about 30 minutes to resolve. So for clarity, when you start to add the lock to HomeKit, make sure you scan the code on the lock and not the module that comes in a separate box. Once I got that issue resolved, everything worked as advertised. The lock is added to my main screen in HomeKit and it alerts me when the door is opened and closed and can be set for a variety of notifications. This lock was added to my back door off of my deck. My kids (and my wife) have a tendency to leave it unlocked when they come from outside so now I am alerted by the app that it hasnt been locked. What i've done is create a shortcut in my iPhone to perform a bunch of tasks each night. I simply say Hey Siri and the phrase I programmed and it locks the door, closes the garage and turns on several lights throughout the home. Couldnt be easier. I'm going to pick up another one of these for our AirBNB so that I can send the lock code to the renter and I program it for the duration of their stay. Once their rental time has expired, the code no longer works. I am very pleased with the overall performance of this lock and have been very happy with it. I definitely recommend this.

Nice lock, pour connectivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not really sure where to start here. I love the lock look and quality, it's solid and well built. Packaging is nice and clean. The lock itself is typical to install with zero issues there. Has awesome features, auto-lock, auto unlock from your device location if you want it that way, alerts from when its locked or locked etc. Best of all is not having to need a key, I've been keyless with cars and houses for many years and will never go back. What really kills this lock is the issues with it staying connected to the Wi-Fi. The lock itself minus that feature is great but if you are dependent on the remote Wi-Fi connection then I would look elsewhere. I have many smart locks over the years, with fingerprints, touchscreen, buttons etc. I have had others with similar problems with connection issues, with or without nodes etc. I think it comes down to the apps most of the time. I know Yale makes an exceptional product and I'm sure they will come up with a fix for this, maybe a remote update will solve the issue, I can't see it being a hardware issue but who knows, I'm no tech.

Initial set up is tricky but overall great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LOVE this smart lock! Initially I had my doubts because during set up because the lock kept losing connectivity to my device. However, after I was able to get everything connected, it worked perfectly. I love how it can sense I am in my driveway and automatically unlock my door upon arrival back to my home. Definitely recommend!

Save your money....
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a not ready for prime time lock. I had nothing but problems with this lock. The first one I sent was defective and parts literally fell out of it during assembly. So it took another two weeks to get a replacement. Customer support is lacking. As far as the lock itself, the only positive is the external key pad is sleek and no issues with touch pad sensors. Once I had installed the 2nd lock, connectivity was a problem just as was the first lock. Calibration took entirely too long. It continually got hung up on saying the calibration failed and the directions were followed to the letter. It does have one nice feature which is remote unlock when you arrive home and then relocks after 5 minutes which was based on my settings. Given even that, I cannot give this more than one star. The internal manual lock box is bulky but that is the case with the majority of the locks out there in the marketplace. This unit definitely needs revisited by the design engineers and also the app design team to improve on connectivity issues. The lock just for the record, is maybe 15 feet away from my router. Until improvements are made, look elsewhere.

YOU ABSOLUTLY NEED BIOMETRIC LOCKS!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi, I’m just a god fearing person trying to look out for my fellow man, listen I don’t even own this lock but i have a few from LOCKLY. Let me tell you this if this lock is a Biometric lock then buy it ESPECIALLY if you are a WOMAN who has kids and live alone you can’t live without a biometric lock. I’m going through 7 kinds of hell with a gang of serial stalkers and let me tell you that WiFi camras and even some wired camras are useless but biometric locks will stop them in their tracks if you throw out the key i cut mine up DO NOT KEEP OR HIDE THE key GET RID OF !ITAS SOON AS THE LOCK IS INSTALLED!!

Lock and app work great, but forget about support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I get at best a month of battery life out of this. There are plenty of posts stating similar experiences, and a firmware update supposedly fixed it, but I am still seeing this issue. Upon reaching out to support I received the offer of getting a complimentary bridge that would connect to my wifi and then use Bluetooth to connect to the lock, and then send the smart wifi module to Yale to check out. Unfortunately, the bridge has about one inch of Bluetooth range and after a few days of back and forth with support, which ended with them closing the case when I answered a question that had already been answered two days prior regarding the initial setup. It does not seem that anybody reviews the case prior to commenting, just assumes what the issue is based on the last message you sent. The lock itself is great when you can use it. It has some nice features, notifications are quick and if you've installed a deadbolt before then you can install this. But the support experience is just going to make me live with the crap battery life until I find another brand to replace it.

App does properly function
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The lock functions properly but if you’re looking to receive notifications from the lock you won’t, the app doesn’t work the way it’s suppose to. Yale will just tell you can they replace the lock because of the warranty. That doesn’t solve the issue it’s the app. Since the app doesn’t function properly you’re better off saving the money and buying the Bluetooth version.
