I volunteered to review the Yale Assure Lock 2 Smart Lock based on the features it offers. I had a Schlage brand smart lock, but it didn’t offer key access, nor did it offer the fingerprint option. The lock was easy to install. It took longer for me to remember how to remove the Schlage than it took me to install the Yale lock. You download the Yale Access app and follow the step-by-step instructions. The issues I faced, however, were with the calibration of the lock. The deadbolt was seated in the door. The door was secure. However, the app kept giving me errors when calibrating. There are two calibration modes. One is for the Doorsense, one is for the the lock itself. I installed the Doorsense per the instructions; however, I had to install it slightly further away than the instructions advised due to how the lock on my door and woodwork is set up. Doorsense would not calibrate at all. This could be less of a Yale issue and more a user issue. You do have the option of drilling into the door and adding Doorsense as a flush application. I felt that the skills needed to do that were beyond my comfort zone. Plus, I just didn’t want to drill into the door. The lock itself won’t calibrate, either. It tells me there is a jam, where there really isn’t. The lock is functional. When I use the keypad to lock the door from the outside, it chimes and does a random pattern that indicates an error. The door is secure, though. If I test the lock with the door open, then the keypad lights up in a square pattern to indicate it worked properly. One thing to note here is that you have to be quick to get your code in before the keypad shuts off. The Schlage I replaced allows you to take more time to key in your code. You have to type fast on the Yale keypad for it to work. The app also shows the door as unlocked with it is clearly locked (photos attached to this review). I cannot use the app to unlock or to lock the door. The event log logs everything correctly; the app just thinks it’s unlocked. I don’t have an Apple Watch, so I could not test that feature. I didn’t see anywhere that this was an option for Samsung Smart Watches. The fingerprint sensor was easy to set up, but it gave me errors at first. The software has updated since my install. I tried again after the update, and I was able to set that up. You have to put your finger on the sensor twelve times. You must place your finger exactly on the sensor the same way each time, or you’ll do it repeatedly until it takes, then you can go on to the next placement. I was able to make spare keys at a kiosk at my local superstore, so at least that was easy. I really like the lock overall. I just wish I could get the app the work as advertised.

Well designed compact lock, visually appealing, and easy to install. The fingerprint option is very helpful as it cuts down on time to unlock. Durability will prove itself over time, too early to tell since I have the lock for a few months only. Remains to be seen how long the batteries will last, which has been a big per peeve of mine with smart locks in general but that is a standard cost of doing business so to speak - not aware of any ‘wired’ smart locks as those would require some non-standard solutions anyways…

I have a few Yale smart locks so most of my comparison is to the other ones I own. Overall, the process to get this installed is the same as any bolt lock, and the instruction do provide cut outs if you need them. Since I already had a hole in my door where this would fit, for me it was just taking the old one out and putting the new on in. Once its installed, you get into the app to set it up. Every Yale lock I’ve had, I seem to need to set it up twice as the first time it fails. Same thing happened here, it didn’t want to connect to my Wi-Fi so I had to re do it and then it worked. I also use Apple HomeKit, and adding this lock worked too so I mostly use that instead of the app. The connectivity options are great, and you can set the key codes and access though the app rather then on the physical lock. Since I have multiple locks, all using the app, its an easy access place for me and then family can use that or directly in HomeKit. Outside of the app to lock and unlock, you have three other options. You can type in a passcode that you setup, you can use your fingerprint (setup in app) or use the key. To me the odd part here is the key, since the whole point of me getting a smart lock is to remove keys. Maybe it’s a feature someone likes, but the other Yale locks I have don’t have keys so I’d prefer the finger print reader and keypad. On the fingerprint side it works pretty fast, so unless I use the phone to unlock the door before, I walk up to it I tend to use the fingerprint reader. Overall nice lock that I would recommend especially if you are new to smart locks and want a key, but for me I think this lock would be nicer without a key at all.

The Yale Access App is awesome! It makes setting up as many locks as you choose to install a breeze. I had already installed several Yale smart locks at my home several years ago & use a 3rd party app to control them. The Yale Access App is backward compatible & immediately discovered my existing Yale locks & paired with this new lock. It also combined my old & new Yale locks on my Apple Watch. The app can alert you whenever the lock is locked or unlocked & even identifies who activated it. The Touch Fingerprint control is the primary difference between my existing Yale Locks & this new Assure Lock 2. The accuracy of the fingerprint control is nothing short of amazing! If you choose, you can even voice control this smart lock with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. CONCLUSION: This Yale Assure Lock 2 combines the highest security with incredible flexibility and convenience & earns my highest recommendation.

I never thought that I would have one of these for a couple of reasons. One being that I just was afraid of having to learn how to even use something like this and secondly, I was just plain scared of what it would take to install a smart-lock. I'll admit that I'm not the most handi of handi-men. I like to be able to get someone that knows a craft and pay them accourdingly. To feel better about my purchases. So I was a bit sceptical when I was offered the opportunity to try this out. I did have a big hand in installing this smart-lock and yes. I did also have a professional assist in the process. The box comes with everything you'll nee to change out your old deadbolt, and for the most part, this thing is super easy to insatll. The biggest issue you should have is waiting for the update of the firmware( and that shouldn't take up very much of your time;), and figuring out who you're going to give access to( for bragging purposes, really) , because you're going to feel super cool after getting this thing up and running, coupled with the fact that you did it yourself. As long as you've got a good door( My door is kinda janky.), this thing will go on in minutes and you'll setting up your WIFI connection before lunch. The app is accessible (It's actually called Yale Access.) But it's very easy to use and grant temporary access codes to people you want to let in when you're not a available. I really love being able to get in my place when I'm overloaded with things in my hands and can't get to my keys. The lock recognizes that I'm close ( because of my phone) and it will unlock my door for easy access. If I'm too faraway from my home, and I forgot to lock my door (if that would every happen...It could though)the lock will automatically lock up as soon as I'm out of range. It works great with my Google home and obviously, it is battery powered( 4 AA batteries that come in the box. And they are easily accessiblefrom the cover on the back of the door) I will be switching to rechargeable after these go out. It should last about 3 months, with steady use. Code entry, Key access. WIFI access.Timed access. Remote access. This thing is just the besst. I would recommend this if you've got family coming in from out of town, cleaning people coming or maintenance. Air B&B owners should totally jump on this. It's been a while since I've given a 5 star review, but oooh, it was worth the wait. Get you one of these.Or few, if that's your bag. ou'll thank me for it.

I was excited to try out the new Yale: Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi and Touch Fingerprint reader. I've read a lot about these and they seem to be the premium of the crop. I was most excited that this newer version came with Wi-Fi so it could be unlocked more easily as well as brining support to Google Home integration. Pros: - Easy installation and initial setup. This generally installs like any deadbolt lock, with an extra bracket to support the larger size. Downloading and using the Yale app was straight forward, for the initial setup. I was able to lock/unlock, calibrate, and setup PINs very easily. Sharing the lock with other users so they can setup their own PINs was also simple. Adding to Google Home and/or HomeKit was also simple - The build quality of the lock looks great. The Stain Nickel finish matches my door handle perfectly - The app is able to unlock/lock the door from anywhere with the installation of the included Wi-Fi module. Using the pin mad also unlocks the door easily. Pressing the finger print "Yale button" also locks the door when leaving - Has a physical key included incase the lock batteries die when you're out of the house - Can setup "guest codes" for when people come over, and you can set them to expire. Also good if you plan to use this for an Air B&B or other rental properties. Cons: - Battery life with the Wi-Fi module installed is horrendous. This is almost a total deal breaker for the entire lock. I've had this installed for only 2 weeks, and the batteries complained of 10% life during just the second week. This is totally unacceptable. - Finger print registration process also has not worked for me. The instruction are "use the app". So, what I "use the app" it walks you through steps. Step 1: "place a hold finger on reader until the LED light blinks green". ok, so I do this, and the lock immediately activated to lock the door (this is what it's supposed to do when not registering finger print). I can never get the lock to actually go through the fingerprint registration process. It got so frustrating, I gave up trying. - The app will often display the incorrect status of the lock. I'll lock the door when I leave the house, verify it's locked. When I return, open the app, it still says "unlocked" which gives me a moments fright. I try the door, it's locked. I press the green "unlocked" button in the app, and the door then unlocks. I also notice this behavior when in the house. - Using Google Home or HomeKit both have severe delays. Pressing lock or unlock from either platform results in about 20-30 seconds of waiting before something happens. Often time, I press it again thinking it didn't register. I've mostly stopped using either, which is an absolute bummer for me as I hate individual apps and want to exclusively use one or the other depending upon if I'm using an Apple or Google device to control it. - The lock itself becomes uncalibrated far too often. When manually locking I often have to "force" the lock further to actually lock the door. I can hear the motor whining when I do this. This cannot be good for the device, but having to constantly calibrate is also unacceptable. I can see doing this when batteries are replaced (currently every 2 weeks!!!!!) but it happens every few days that I've just given up recalibrating it. - Fingerprints show up on the touch surface, and the digits cannot be rotated. This makes it easier for people to see what numbers have been pressed, and possibly guess the PIN easier. I think I'm being extremely generous with 3 stars on this. Some of these problems I'm chalking up to possible environmental on my part, or even user error. However, battery life, calibration, fingerprint registration all seem to be device faults and characteristics of this model. I think I'm going to simply remove the Wi-Fi module to get better battery life and simply use the app over bluetooth when home, or, just using keypad digits (unless i can find a way to register fingerprints at some point). The entire hallmark feature of this lock, the integrated Wi-Fi is also it's largest drawback. App sluggishness, inconsistencies, and poor performance over the internet all make the core conveniences of the generation "2" more or less unappealing. It's still more convenient than a normal lock, but I'd suggest saving the extra money and get the non-wifi model, or perhaps, just get a more inexpensive smart lock, without any of these feature, that don't really work anyway. I will not be recommending this generation of Yale lock to anyone.

We’re really enjoying the fingerprint entry. Bought this to replace a previous Yale lock that we had for years and liked. Been using this one for about a month and like it just as much. This one looks a little sleeker. Easy to install.

This is my 2nd "smart" doorlock (3rd if counting another I installed for a family member) and I can say Yale made a great lock. Sleek look and super easy installation is adding to how much I prefer Yale over some competitors. In the box is everything you need to get this bad boy installed. Now I am replacing an already existing lock so my measurements were spot on in making sure I have no troubles going forward. This should fit a vast majority of doors, but if yours is brand new and needs cutting, no fear, there is measuring and cutting guides for you (as long as you have the tools). One thing I didn't like is that you are basically stuck with the key you are given as I don't have a way to easily re-key (like kwikset offers). Installation is very straightforward and simple. Not only do they give you a printed guide, but the App has step by step instructions to move you along the process. Once I got my lock installed and set up, I used the app to create PINs for each member of my household. You can also use it to lock and unlock the door as well. Here I ran into my only bump though. I could not for the life of my get the fingerprint scanner to work. I googled any troubleshooting tips and the best one I found was completely factory resetting it until it worked. Took me 3 tries before it FINALLY moved forward to scan my fingerprint. Overall I have been pleased with the Assure Lock 2 and would recommend it to anyone in the market. Easy, safe and secure all in 1 package.

Installation was straightforward with clear instructions, and I had it up and running in no time. The fingerprint access is fast and reliable, and the Wi-Fi connection makes it easy to manage from anywhere. The lock feels sturdy, looks sleek, and adds a modern touch to my door. After a month of daily use, it’s been flawless, no connection drops, no glitches, and no issues unlocking. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a secure and stylish smart lock!

This has been a great addition to our home. We enjoy the additional security and ease of install. Being able to give our dog sitter their own code so that we know when the dog has been let out and feed is one of the features we love.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Excellent** Really happy with this lock so far. Install was easier than I expected, and everything worked right away. The fingerprint reader is quick and accurate, and the keypad responds well even at night. The Wi-Fi connection has been solid and the app is easy to use. I like being able to lock or unlock the door remotely and set up codes for family or guests without dealing with keys. It’s been reliable and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The black suede finish looks great and feels high quality. Overall, this has been a big upgrade from a standard deadbolt and I’d definitely buy it again.

I am really happy with the product. The app is good and send notifications, and let you create different user profiles for each family members and visitors... The installation was simple and manual was clear and easy to follow.

The lock works amazing with fingerprints, sometimes you have to clean it after a while it’s normal but happy with the ease of use and functionality and sleek design

We are really enjoying the upgrade, no more searching for keys to get in or out the house. The lock comes well packaged; it comes with the hardware, batteries, the lock, the keypad for outside and instructions that are easy to follow. And to make it easier the application guided me on how to install the lock on my door. the installation is about the same as any other lock it is just a few more steps when connecting the smart features and it was much easier than I thought. The lock from the outside no longer requires a key and there is no key hole so we were scared that the battery will die out and we will be locked out but the lock gives you warnings about the battery life so as soon as it lets me know the battery is low I will change the batteries. The smart module is what makes the lock smart and can be used to do many things, all it needs is the WiFi password so it can connect to the house network so the lock can be used remotely as well as know how it has been used. The lock can open in different ways, using the pin on the keypad doe not need the Wi-Fi so in case the network is not working we can still get inside. The other option is using Bluetooth with cell phone both Android and iOS and in my household we have both and they work well. We like the auto lock function, no more forgetting to lock the door, just shut the door all the way and it will lock by itself and this feature is optional. If we are running late and we have visitors, we can open the door from somewhere else so they can wait inside, no more hiding the key outside and I can always share a code for visitors, friends or maintenance. Also the Auto-unlock feature is cool, as I get close to the door the door is unlocked so I do not have to do anything to get in, it is also optional but I like it. The application is easy to understand and I can give a code to get inside, and from the application I know who got home, and these codes can be permanent or temporary. Yale also has information on their website for setup as well as troubleshooting and contact information so it is very helpful to have just in case. I also like that there are different colors to consider, Black Suede, Oil Rubbed Bronze and Satin Nickel to go with the door, I am getting another one for the back door in a different color to match better. Overall it is an amazing upgrade, no more keys needed to get inside or lock the door, application is user friendly and I cannot believe we were still using keys.

This product is working great, no issues yet. This lock is wonderful, the fingerprint feature is great. Those moments your hands are full, the convenience of using 1 finger to unlock the door is great. Now, the feature where you can unlock this lock using the app while still in the car will be great.

Awesome! Lock was easy for my handyman to install. It was also easy to set up and add family members. So far I haven’t had any issues and would recommend the lock.

This lock is great. The installation video on the app was very easy to follow and I like the option of both the codes and fingerprint recognition. I also like the key as backup in case the batteries die. It also passed muster for being sharp looking from my wife.

Good lock does the job, no problems setting up or with the app
