Buy Yale and don’t look back!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn’t my first Yale smart lock I’ve owned, but it might be my favorite! I’ve owned a several brand of smart locks/keypad locks over the years and have only truly been happy with the Yale. The others have given me trouble, had issues, or just finally stopped working and I can’t figure out the issues. Meanwhile, my existing Yale lock has been 100% trouble free! So I was more than excited to get my hands on another model to instantly replace the “other brand” lock that stopped working. Installing it was quick and easy. Creating my finger print profile was just as simple. It worked great and I was thrilled! I did, however, run into an issue while setting up my wife’s profile/code… because she already had a Yale profile for my original Yale lock on my other door, it wouldn’t let me set up the same code for this new lock on my new door… I tried everything (so I thought) and it just wouldn’t let me use the same code! Then I thought to delete her profile, and set it up again as a new profile and make the code the same. It worked! I wish I thought of this a few days prior to save myself the headache! But oh well. It works perfectly and we are very happy with it.

Best on the market
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to start by saying this lock greatly improves each generation. I have upgraded the last three models and This is by far my favorite. The fingerprint free screen is soooo much better than older versions and response time is virtually instant. I have also noticed the sound level is much quieter than previous versions and the useful features are definitely an upgrade. Love the fingerprint unlocking and is my favorite so far. They are getting much more flexible each generation and the lock is compatible with a bunch more smart home platforms making integration easy and convenient. The hardware itself really feels super solid and well built and I don't expect anything breaking which give a little extra peace of mind. The design matches well with a ton of door handles out there and just makes like easier. I can't even remember the last time I needed a key for my home and don't think I can ever go back. It makes much more of a positive change in your life vs dealing with a key, trust me, lose the key and get a yale asssure lock asap

Yale Assure Lock 2 (smart lock)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited to write a review on this Yale lock. I am very pleased with the Yale finger print lock. The one thing I have learned is you should install Energizer Lithium batteries in the lock. I had the Yale lock that just you put in the code to access your home. In that lock I used Duracell batteries and I was changing them about every month. I had this locked installed on 1/8/25. Today is 3/21/25 and so far I have not had to change the batteries yet. So far I like this lock better than the other Yale lock I purchased before. This lock has a key to it so I would imagine if the batteries needed changing and I didn’t pay attention, I can use they key to gain access to my home.

1 key, codes, fingerprint or by mobile application
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's much more than I really expected from it. In the installation process you realize that it is a quality construction. The installation process was normal and programming is also easy because it comes with instructions with images so you don't feel lost in the process. 1 key, codes, fingerprint or by cell phone application. What I didn't know about this particular lock, and that's why it surprised me, is that it has temporary codes to be assigned either for days or certain hours and that's a plus plus.

Good lock a bit finicky with the install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice key-less entry lock that also has wifi access so you can manage it even when you aren’t home. Install was pretty easy, for the most part, however the alignment for this lock didn’t match the previous lock very well so the bolt kept rubbing and catching. It took quite a bit of finagling to get it to line up perfectly, but its worked fine since then. To be honest, I’m not sure if that’s an issue with this lock being aligned a bit off, or if my previous lock was then one that was a bit off, but just be warned that if this is replacing a previous deadbolt you could have some install headache. If you’re having it installed with the door as the original lock for a new door, you shouldn’t have any issues. The physical operation of the lock is about as expected. However, I was a bit surprised that you can’t enter codes in on the device itself. I guess that makes sense, especially if you’re using this for an airbnb and don’t want them putting in extra codes when they’re supposed to be leaving. The app worked fine and I was able to set up all the codes I wanted. I do like that I can set up new codes on the fly or just open the door by the push of a button. That way if I’m out of town and we have someone help watch our dog while out, I can keep track of what’s going on or set up a new code for someone that I wasn’t expecting to need to get in the house. I also can use it in combination with my doorbell to let in one of my younger kids who are a bit too little to remember a code anyway. If they want to get in I can see its them on the doorbell and let them in, all from my office without having to get up. Fingerprint recognition is nice since its so much faster than a pin code, and as an added bonus its great for anyone in your family who you don’t trust not to tell the whole neighborhood the door code. I was able to get it to work with smart-things, although the functionality of what you can automate it to do is pretty limited. Its more about seeing all your devices in one place. I also tried to get it to sink to Hubitat, but couldn’t get it to work right. It doesn’t claim to be compatible, but the Hubitat forums have a number of people using it, so I think its possible but it may just be compatible if its a Z-wave or Zigbee lock. Overall a solid key-less lock with some really nice upgrades like the fingerprint scanner.

Nice addition to my smarthome setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second Yale smart lock that I own and this is a welcome addition to my smarthome setup. My house seems like grand central station on most days with two sons who play sports and my in-laws who live with us. I dreaded having to give out keys to each of them because undoubtedly, I would be changing locks more frequently than I would like. When I got the Nest Yale Lock, i was able to give them an access code, give them access to my Yale Lock app or open the doors remotely myself with the WiFi setup. This lock is similar in setting up. If you have ever installed a deadbolt, this is pretty similar with a few extra steps to get it connected to Wifi. Setup was simple and took me about 30-40 minutes from start to finish. Since all over of my exterior doors already have smart locks on them, I decided to install this one on my "Christmas" room/workout room. I dont like my keys using the workout equipment unsupervised and this is also the room where we store Christmas gifts, I thought it would be a good location for it. Only my wife and I have access so there was no need to give anyone else access, particularly since I can open it remotely if necessary. It also works with my Apple Watch which is a nice bonus to have multiple options to unlock the door. So far, everything works great. Once I setup multiple fingerprints for myself and my wife, I tried it and it worked quickly. The pass codes work well and having a backup key is a nice added feature. I really like the look of the lock as well. Its modern looking and stylish. This is a feature rich device from a company that puts out great products. I doubt you will be unhappy with this smart lock.

Great Smart lock and upgrade from older models
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was an upgrade from my older Nest x Yale smart lock, so the installation was very easy due to the many similarities. The size of the newer Assure Lock 2's inside portion is roughly half the size of the older Nest x Yale it replaced. The exterior pad is about the same size, but the shape and style give it a sleeker, more modern look. The two biggest features I was looking forward to with this unit were the fingerprint sensor and the ability to use a physical key. If the batteries died while we were away, it's good to know we still have an option to open the deadbolt. The Yale app is required to setup the lock, update the firmware and register entry codes and fingerprints. The fingerprint setup didn't go smoothly and based on the errors, the app said to do a factory reset and start over from scratch. Slightly annoying, but the second time it worked perfectly. Being able to quickly open the lock when we get back from dog walks is super helpful. Overall, this is a great smart lock if it's your first, and if you have an older Yale Assure or Nest x Yale, I definitely recommend the upgrade. The Nest app is more intuitive than Yale, but it's slowly being discontinued by Google and there didn't seem to be a plan to include the lock in the new Google Home app. So if you were holding out on upgrading just because of Nest, don't wait any longer. You can add this to your Home app and use Google Assistant which adds more future proofing than the prior lock. Highly recommend!

Unlocks itself randomly!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this lock as a housewarming gift and absolutely loved it at first! It has a great design, the fingerprint reader works wonderfully and makes for a really easy process to enter the home. For the first week or so the lock functioned well, set it up with the app, doorsense works nicely, and entry and exit are easy. However, I started to notice that the door was unlocked when I locked it last and no one else is home. After placing a security camera to watch the door I found that the lock would randomly unlock itself in the middle of the day or the middle of the night and stay unlocked until I notice and relock it. The app would register this action in the activity log as the lock being "manually unlocked" but per security camera footage no one was anywhere near the lock and it decided to just electronically unlock itself. A lock unlocking itself at random times is the worst thing a lock could possibly do and has me significantly concerned about the security of this lock and the safety of my home. There are a number of forums and posts that show similar experiences with this product, so I know this is not a one off with my lock. I spoke to Yale customer support and they were very responsive and offered a replacement, but since this was a gift and I do not have proof of purchase they are unable to assist further.

This lock let me down.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The version with a keyhole does not have an emergency power receptacle. DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK unless you want to be stuck outside. I've been outside for 1 hour, with who knows how long to go, waiting for a locksmith to basically drill through this $200+ lock. It ate through 4 AA batteries in just 6 days, of having a pet sitter watch my animals. Now I'm home, and can't get in. Awful experience.
