Didn't think it would be a good deadbolt lock, but it actually is good for the price your buying for. Easy to set up, quality is good. I would recommend getting this product, it gets the job done.

Great Smart Lock with a Few Quirks

I recently installed the Yale Assure Lock 2 Deadbolt (Black Suede, Wi-Fi, Keypad with Key) and overall, I’m very impressed. It’s a sleek, modern smart lock that adds both style and security to my home. Here are my thoughts:
Pros: Multiple Unlock Options: Keypad, app, Auto-Unlock, and voice assistants (Alexa, Google, Apple HomeKit). Remote Access: Control and monitor the lock from anywhere using the Yale Access App. Auto-Lock Feature: Automatically locks the door when it closes—great for peace of mind. Easy Installation: Took about 20 minutes with just a screwdriver. Clean Design: The keypad is illuminated and fingerprint-resistant, and the lock looks great on the door.
Cons: App Setup Could Be Smoother: No “skip” option during setup walkthroughs, which was a bit annoying. Bulky Interior Unit: The inside part of the lock is larger than expected. Limited to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi: Doesn’t support 5 GHz networks and only works in the U.S. and Canada. Keypad Behavior: You have to press a confirmation button after entering your code—would prefer auto-unlock after the last digit.
If you're looking for a reliable smart lock with great features and remote access, this is a solid choice. Just be aware of the regional limitations and the slightly bulky design. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone upgrading their home security.

There were times when it didn't want to work so we were locked out until we went to another door or called someone in the house to unlock. We rarely locked if we weren't home, but we would accidentally touch the Yale button, so it would lock. It did come with a key but the lock was used for the back door and so we wouldn't really carry the key around. I could have attempted to work with it to figure out a solution, but there was one annoying thing about this lock I couldn't overcome so I ended up returning it. The most annoying part is that when you unlock or lock it through the keypad, it made a very loud beeps. It's so loud, I feel the neighbors can hear it. There is a sound toggle and it was on silent so I don't know why it kept beeping loudly.

Simple and Effective - Nice Keypad Lock

For those already familiar with Yale’s lock options, Code Keypad Lock is a no-frills deadbolt replacement solution. The lock has no connectivity features like Bluetooth or WiFi, which is what Yale is known for. I currently have an Assure Lock 2 on 2 different doors for over a year and they have worked great, so I knew that Yale could make a reliable locking solution. I figured I would swap out my aging front door lock, and give the Code Keypad a shot.
Installation
The Code Keypad Lock installs just like any other deadbolt – it’s a breeze if you are just doing a replacement. The lock does come with a template if you need to cut a hole for the deadbolt. There are 4 pieces that come into play for the install – the front keypad, the latch assembly, the door plate, and the inner body. You need to install the latch assembly first, but after that it’s just sandwiching the parts on the door. The front keypad goes on next with the spindle sliding into the slot on the latch assembly. Then you put the door plate onto the inside of the door and thread in the provided bolts securing the keypad to the door. This part it would help to either put some tape to hold the keypad to the door or have someone hold the keypad while screwing in the door plate. At this point I checked to make sure the keypad was nice and straight on the door and not crooked. The indoor part of the lock installs onto the door plate, which was a little wonky trying to line it up. Just above the battery slot are 3 little slider switches and one button. The left slider switch toggles the latching direction for lefthand or righthand door installs. Make sure to set this before proceeding to configure the lock. The last thing to install is the strike plate on the door frame, and with that in place you can close the door and manually rotate to the bolt to ensure things are lined up.
Once all that is in place you install the batteries (4xAA – not provided) and the lock goes right into code entry mode. From here you punch in a 4-8 digit number, press the top Yale button, and then repeat the process. I added 2 additional codes, which required pressing the “Mode” button above the battery slot, and then the front “Yale” button to start the code entry process. From there it’s the same as the first time.
The other 2 slider switches on the inside lock body are for sound control and auto-locking. Auto-lock set to “On” will engage the locking mechanism 30 seconds after the deadbolt has been unlocked. The Auto-lock will start its routine regardless if the door is closed or not.
Design
The keypad and lock body are all black with the only exception on the whole thing being the gray “Yale” button on the keypad. The inside part of the lock is all black plastic while the outside part is a mix of metal and plastic. The bezel around the keypad body is a smooth metal while the keypad face is plastic, and the buttons are rubber. This Yale button is used to “wake-up” the keypad prior to entering a code, and for locking the door when leaving home. They keys themselves are slightly squishy keypad buttons with backlit keys. It’s an understated design that would blend in well with any door.
Features and Interaction
There really isn’t much to this lock feature wise – it’s a regular keyed deadbolt with a keypad. It does feature a regular keyed lock to go along with the keypad. The key is a Yale/Kwikset KWKD 5 pin key. The lock has the ability to mute its beeps via the sound slider switch. It is a very loud beep that goes off with each keypress. However, hearing nothing when typing in the code throws me off as well. I would have liked to have a low volume and high volume option. The auto-lock is set to be on a 30 second timer, which you cannot adjust.
I like having the physical keypad buttons and these are easy to push. My kids have no problem punching in the code to get inside, which I really needed since they get home from school before I leave work. The physical keys will also have the advantage once the temps drop and you start wearing gloves outside.
Overview
This is a nice lock that does exactly what it sets out to do. I has not need for WiFi/Bluetooth, and as long as it doesn’t glitch out it will soldier on for years without anything more than a few battery changes. I would definitely recommend this lock to anyone in the market for a simple keypad setup. I think it works well, and I have had a really good experience with my other Yale locks of the years. The only real knock I have is the volume of the beeps – they don’t need to be that loud.
