Broke after 3 years, no warranty replacement!

Changed the batteries after they died one day and the unit will no longer light up the keypad, lock or unlock the door with the app, etc. Only a blue light appears under the battery cover. Called Yale customer service and after trying different batteries and attempting a factory reset; they told me to buy another one because I bought it in 2020. Even before it broke this product was mediocre at best. Laggy app, no WiFi directly in the unit, instead you need to plug in a separate module to the wall and hope it's close enough to the lock.

    Very Good Smart Lock

Being a newbie to smart home tech, I wanted to have the latest smart lock available. I already purchased the Google Nest video doorbell and was doing research to which locks are compatible with Google. I was considering different brands from the big players in addition to Yale. Ultimately I chose Yale and this model smart lock even over the Yale Nest X smart lock due to this model is compatible with with Alexa, Google, Apple HomeKit as well as it connects to Wifi and Bluetooth giving lots of options. The main connection if first through August and their August app. Besides being compatible with different assistants, I like that it still has the ability to be unlocked the traditional way using a key. I love the bluetooth connection because when I leave home, no need to lock my door. It will auto lock after it detects that you are out of the range of the lock. Upon your return like magic the lock will unlock for you allowing you to walk right in. This is very convenient for times you get home and want to bring in as many bags as you can and you have both hands full and don't want to have to fumble around with your keys and attempt to unlock your door while still holding your things. There is an included sensor that helps the lock detect when the door is opened or closed. You can either attach the sensor on the molding next to the door in line with the lock or you can bore a small hold in the door jamb to mount the sensor flush and out of sight. You might be wondering why I rated this lock 4 stars instead of 5? It's because sometimes the lock will take a bit longer to detect that you are back home and within range for it to auto-unlock. Sometimes when this has happened to me, if I touch the keypad it will sometimes wake up and auto unlock without me having to enter my passcode or use my key. There have also been times that I have had to enter my passcode because after standing right at my door it still had not auto unlocked for me. I also find that if you don't rush too quickly to your door, it will have more time to detect your presence and unlock by the time you reach the door. After set up through the August app, you can set up alerts so that you will be notified when the lock auto locks after you leave and return. You can also create passcodes for others like family but I cannot speak to that process of creating user codes since I have not had any need to use that feature yet. All in all I highly recommend this smart lock. I hope this review helps you.

The Yale Smart Lock is the Smart Choice

Fully integrated for use with Google Nest, Google Home, Samsung's Smarthings app etc. I particularly like the fact that as long as my phone is on me at the time, it will unlock the door as I pull into my garage based on the settings that I chose via the Yale app. Additionally, one can choose a set time (max may be 5 min) for the door to auto lock if you are like me and often have your hands full and forget to lock the door behind you. Other settings also include the ability to be alerted when the door is open, left open, or when a specific person connected to that lock unlocks or locks the door. Guest codes can also be given and revoked based on your needs. Most of the more advanced settings that I mentioned above are due to a connect device that plugs in to an outlet near the door for optimum connectivity between the lock and that device. A small .5 -1 inch in diameter circle is then drilled into the doorframe (the piece is white and unnoticeable since the door closes over it). The use of this connectivity and the extra sensor is, of course, completely optional however some of the best smart lock settings are not available unless the connect feature and sensor are used. Safety, convenience, and customization are well worth the price tag if you're on the fence. Plus, they are a trusted and more secure brand than some current smart locks on the market.

I have a house full of automation (lights, thermostats, garage, water leak sensors, etc) but never jumped on the smart lock bandwagon. The reason I finally bit the bullet was my car was in service so I didn’t have my garage door opener. Not a problem because I have a linear (brand) z wave garage door module so I can open up my garage door using smart things. Only problem is, whenever I actually need to use it, it never works! I should have known but it ended up leaving me locked out until my wife could make it home 3 hours later. The next day I went and purchased this lock. Install was a breeze especially using the BILT app. Once installed I programmed the codes and everything works flawlessly. I intergraded it into my SmartThings and also synced it with Alexa. I replaced a double cylinder Schlage deadbolt so the only negative is the keys work match with the other deadbolts. The quality of this look seems to be great and it also looks very high end. ONE WORD OF ADVICE IF YOU’RE USING IT WITH HOMEKIT. WRITE DOWN THE HOMEKIT CODE FROM THE FACEPLATE. I DIDN’T READ THAT YOU HAD TO DO THAT UNTIL AFTER IT WAS FULLY INSTALLED SO I HAVEN’T TAKEN IT APART TO GET THE CODE YET SO I CAN’T ADD IT TO MY HOMEKIT. If you’re in the market for a smart lock, put the Yale/August at the top of your list.

Great piece of hardware once the math of getting it setup is worked out. The problem being the recommended Yale Access app doesn't work for the setup neither by scanning the said QR code whixh isn't present and manual entry isn't accepted either, you need to download the August app which recognized the lock and I was able to successfully get it installed. Then, I had to uninstall the August app as it wasn't meant to work with the Yale lock on a day to day basis. Yale was once again installed which was ultimately the right app. So, after going back and forth with this hair pulling antics, the lock works well especially the auto unlock and lock feature. If only, the instructions were clear to begin with and easy to setup this would have been the perfect piece of hardware.

I really like this lock. It's been great to give foster teens their own codes and helps me keep track of if they're coming and going like they say they are. And I like the auto-locking feature. The only thing I don't like about that part is that I thought it would recognize when it's ajar, and not auto-lock. Like if I'm letting the breeze in through the screen door on a nice day, then I go to close it and the deadbolt is sticking out and hits the door frame. But that's a small complaint. It was pretty easy to install and set-up.

The auto unlock works most of the time. A great update would be one bridge for multiple locks. I bought two Yale smart locks which means I had to plug in two bridges, taking up outlet space. overall, I like the locks and look forward to improvements.I had them professionally installed because my door and frame needed adjustments.

We love this lock because the app that works with it, The August App, has a feature where when you walk up to the door with your phone, the lock automatically opens up. This is helpful when my hands are so full, like when I am carrying my baby, purse and bags of groceries. This lock allows you to generate one-time usage codes for maintenance people who stop by, who need to come inside your home to work on the A/C, heat, plumbing, etc. The lock will tell you the exact time someone comes into your home. It has tons of features, it is totally worth the money.

I purchased two of these locks for the front and side doors of an elderly family member at a different location. The system informs me when the door is locked, unclocked, open, closed, or left ajar. I can give different codes to healthcare workers and other family members. Fairly easy to install.

I like the smart lock a lot. Very good for the smart home,. No need for the key when hands are full. After 3 weeks I had a little issue with my August app not recognizing the smart lock , I have to calibrate the device again to get it work again. I hope do not get any glitches again like this .

This lock was just installed yesterday and has worked perfectly. Really beautiful piece of hardware and relatively easy to install. My only concern is the price. It is very very pricey. Time will tell about its durability but it seems like it was made very well.

Not difficult to install although setting up the hub for internet use is finicky but not rocket science. The open door feature is cool. I should also note if you experience a jam warning when attempting to lock through the app or keypad I strongly recommend checking if there is any interference with the lock and the opening in the door jam. Any interference will prevent it from fully locking regardless if you can lock it by hand. I just wish it worked with the MYQ app…

This is exactly what we've been missing. After our garage door broke (our main entry) ,not having house keys on our keys, and about the time the locksmith arrived at 1130 pm on a holiday weekend, we realized it was time to finally bite the bullet and get the lock we've wanted for months. I must say, I have not been disappointed. The sheer joy of knowing I can never be locked out (with one of 5 ways to unlock), along with the piece of mind that provides make this purchase without regret. Combine the sleek look and ease of setup and it's a grandslam.

Im using on my back door works just as stated. Only issue is something the auto lock doesnt engage could be that door is not closed fully and sensor is not detecting that door is closed but other than that door working perfect. No issue set up code ( used best buy installer to install door) using on back garage door

Had this lock for 6 months, batteries have died twice now with no warning. I don't use this lock much, if it got 25 commands in the last 6 months I'd be surprised. August wifi rarely connects, receiver needs to be within 5 feet of door. Then it can't pick up my wifi even though everything else farther away has no problem.(Maybe that is what is killing batteries.) I had bought two of these units, but immediately after installing the first one I knew the second was a waste so returned. I may remove the August module and see if thing improved with just the lock. Will update review if it does.
