Purchased to create a MusicCast daisy chain with an RN803. Links perfectly and the sound quality is amazing. Nothing like the 803 but it’s only discernible under load. Great products if you love music and stereo sound.

I'm really disappointed in this Yamaha receiver. The MusicCast app is clunky and I can't add internet radio stations I want to it like Tune-In Pro and others. I've read some threads online this may be due to a licensing problem with vChip (or something like that). I have a Denon receiver and love the Heos app on it. Much easier to use all around, the app and the receiver. This Yamaha is going back to BB tomorrow. I may just buy a great wifi/blutooth speakers or soundbar and steam my music via iPhone or Mac or online radio stations. There is almost no need for a receiver now-a-days anyways, unless you want power, which I have with the Denon, or you want to hook up components (maybe) or wired headphone (why?). But when you can't add an internet radio station, or service, to the app or receiver, there is no use to have it. Good bye Yamaha!!!

Replaced our mid-80's Onkyo stereo receiver which finally died--new technology is fantastic!

Bought this to link up to 10 + year old JVC components and speakers. Working great! LOVE that I can do Apple Airplay.

Nice sound and straight forward controls upfront. Bluetooth works great, but so far Music Cast is a bust. Was easy to get connected to Wi-Fi, but connecting the individual music apps was a total bust for me. But overall I like the stereo.

Worst Technical Support, terrible connection

When you delete a file it fails to delete the file on the controller. Which is my biggest issue. Yamaha can't compete with Sonos which is what I ended up buying after I returned this terrible item. Yamaha's technical support is not knowledgeable enough on this product and setup for an IT person like myself took forever. Equipment required a lot of resets (unplugging the unit) to get applications and the controller to reset and work correctly. I rate this product a zero, terrible. Don't buy it.

We used this receiver with an older Pioneer system and wasn't sure it would work, the Pioneer has a turn table and equalizer. We were able to make it work by passing the CD player thru the equalizer to the CD components. It worked wonderful.
