Bought this sound bar hoping it would be a quality stand alone option with little fuss. I paired this unit with a wired subwoofer after a couple of days of trying to live without it. While under this child figuration I could get it to suns really good most of the time the problem was that I had to constantly dial it in wherever the source changed, and could only do so competently when using the app; since the remote and the bar itself gives very little to no feedback on how it is adjusted. The other dirt coming, which I found inexcusable given how this is advertised, is that it’s only really a “half Alexa”, most significantly it cannot be added to multi room listening with other Alexa products, also struggled with Apple Music and always seemed to steer me towards Pandora or amazon music. I ended up exchanging for a JBL link bar on sale that can me with a subwoofer for free for only a little more than the cost if this and an extremely pleased. While the creation of surround like effects is not a s potentially immersive the sound is consistent and genuine with less fluffy processing getting in the way.
Oh an HDMI ARC doesn’t work well at all and while constantly unsync. Also provides no on screen indication of where volume level is adjusted

Well made soundbar with fairly easy setup and great sound quality. My only knock is that it can be a little hard to hit the remote sensor from across the room. But I actually like this so much I've bought two other Yamaha Soundbars for my other tv's.

I didn't do a ton of research and also didn't want to spend very much money on a sound bar, as it was going in my garage to be able to play music in the garage and to also play YouTube workout videos. $200 was my max price point and originally was going to go with the JBL unit which only had full drivers. I decided to get this Yamaha since it had individual tweeters and midrange drivers with the ported sides for extra bass. It sounds OK for what I am using it for. However, I have it mounted on the wall and the tweeters are mounted on the front of the soundbar. So the tweeters are firing down to the floor and not out forward to open part of my garage. So the sound I'm mostly hearing is more midrange and the bass. The soundbar would likely sound better overall setting on a low countertop below your TV so that you could get more of the overall sound projected outwards.

I’ll just start off by saying I have sonos in my house and I couldn’t afford to drop another 700$ on a sonos soundbar which sounds absolutely incredible ...now having said that I chose this sound bar because I know Yamaha makes great speakers... and for the money it sounds great really great.. but again it’s not a sonos but for the 200$ it’s def worth it

I have this for my bedroom. Simple set up, the Alexa feature is great when you just want to play music and not have to worry about fiddling with your phone, which you can do also. I use it for my bedroom TV, listening to music, and for when I sleep I just play a brown noise mp3 from my phone on repeat. Does everything and more. Sound great for the price. I rec using it in stereo mode for music and when watching TV, make sure you use the clear voice option to hear dialogue better. Gets plenty loud. I'm not a fan of the 3D surround features, probably because I just prefer that to be the real thing with multiple wired speakers. What I use this for is great. Firmware easy to update and so is the app. You can also disable Alexa if you are not a fan. I have it hooked up through HDMI ARC on my TV and no problems.

Its about a week in and this has impressed me there is enough adjustments to adapt to any input !
The over all build quality is hi and its just robust and very easy to set up with any system it has HDMI and optic connections so you can connect to different components .
There is a sub out to hook up a powered sub but this pounds enough in my apt if i add a sub i think i will get in trouble .
There is a option to mount it on a wall and has a very nice template to make the install easy.
The remote feels hi quality and does have to be pointed directly at the unit but the buttons have a good feel but the only neg i can see is its a small remote so if you tend to loose them or have a hungry animal it may be a issue .
Overall if you want to upgrade from a old sound bar or just upgrade the sound of your tv this is a cheap alternative !
I recommend this unit to anyone!

I got this soundbar to go into my living room to replace a old 5.1 system. For the most part it does everything as it should. Not great , but good. I picked this one because it let me use my own subwoofer. The sound is fine. Its more like the tv speakers on steroids. Its meant to lay flat in front of your tv or wall mount. When it is in its wall mounted position, the front of the bar will be facing down and the speakers will then be facing toward you. Thats where it sounds best. So cause i have mine on a tv stand i had to prop it up Awkwardly so I can get the best sound. Music listening is real good. As for the alexa part, it works as it should. Good but not great. Alone it is a great smart home device, but for some reason it doesn’t play well with other amazon alexa devices. I can see it in my alexa app, and i can send music to it. But i cant use it when playing music of multiple Alexa speakers at the same time. Also one last thing. I living in a ranch style home. The bar is in the living room and i can be in my bedroom on the other end of the house standing next to my bed side echo and say “alexa” and the soundbar will hear me over the echo im next to.

Speaker doesn't support all Alexa features

Sound is awesome for small or big room. I would use for bedroom or small room . Bass is big enough for those areas, but I perfer more bass in large rooms. Sound is loud and clear otherwise if you arent big on bass. The clarity is great. This sound bar doesn't support the full functionality and features as the separate alexa speaker does. It doesn't sync with my other speakers.

I usually use Samsung soundbars, but didn't want a separate subwoofer. The Yamaha is somewhat inferior in quality, however isn't awful. The soundbar is up-firing instead of front. The sound is okay, I'm not unhappy with the bass. The remote is limited, bass on the left vol on the right, would have preferred these flipped.
The smart features are limited, and Alexa stopped working within days. Had to google to figure out how to keep the soundbar from shutting off after having no sound come through it after 5 min. (It is possible at least!).
It's not awful, but it's not better than a more generic like a Vizio. Will I return it - No. Would I buy it again? No. The sound is okay, not great, but decent for the price. It would be great if it had a volume equalizer between show vs commercials and such.

Very good sound bar with sufficient base built in. I did not have a spot for a separate subwoofer. Sound bar sits low and perfectly in front of my tv. I’ve enjoyed the “surround” sound quality and choice of modes for movies, concerts, etc. Great value for the price. Remote that came with it is mediocre.
