This is a great deal for the price and what you get, so many options and features. I had an old Yamaha receiver from over 20 years ago that was still in perfect working order just really outdated and bad efficient. Hated to get rid of it but this does so much more and i figured if the last one lasted that long and still perfect better stay with this brand. I have it powering all Klipsch speakers(7) and a 15" power klipsch sub, just added the 2 front height speakers by sony for Dolby Atmos and it is amazing. I have barely had it a month and watched 17 movies and hours of sacd listening. BUY IT!!!!

The Yamaha RX-V685 was purchased as an "open box" special, and arrived in excellent condition as advertised. This AV receiver is a complex product with many features, and it was necessary to download the 180+ page owners manual to take advantage of the internet and programing capabilities. I recommend having a smart phone or tablet devices prior to the purchase of this receiver. The WiFi and Bluetooth features are great. My 20+ year old Yamaha receiver can now deliver internet radio, and streaming music sourced from the RX-V685 unit. Thank you Best Buy and Yamaha. Woody

Simple to install and setup. Sounds great so far, I haven't used all features and proper calibration, but impressed with the out of box experience.

My old Pioneer A/V receiver died, and it was time to replace. I've had the new one in place for a month - and it's performing well. Glad I opted for this full-featured Yamaha rather than a Soundbar that was highly recommended by several friends; I want the option of connecting a turntable (haven't done that yet), I had misunderstood the voice control integration with Alexa - was hoping my husband could turn the system on and control not just the stereo but the connected TV completely. Still waiting for that miracle! The voice-commands through Alexa/Google are just to control music playback. OK, but not the feature set I hoped for. Agree with other reviews that the instructions left a bit to be desired, but nothing I couldn't overcome, thanks to YouTube and the Google :)

Easy to use, Works with our Bose Surround Sound and sounds excellent. We like the automatic speaker adjustment it has.

Great recommendation by very patient salesperson, after comparing higher end and many receivers experimenting with the speakers and center channel I was purchasing, 9060 center channel and 9040 Definitive Tech speakers this Yamaha 630 W 7.2 -CH. performed amazingly. This receiver actually had the ability to create the very distinctive clear sounds, voices and musical notes better than some others with a higher price tag and has more connections so I have the ability to add to my home theater in the future.

Sleek looking with good functionality and options. Reliable name brand with 4K capabilities. Easy to set up and use. Very good sound quality that you can attenuate to your taste. Buy it!

Great output of sound for music and when used for home theater. We love this device and it is very easy to use.

I upgraded to this receiver from a Yamaha A/V receiver that was 25 years old (all RCA style connectors). A few things I have noticed are 1) on power-on the Yamaha still has very high in-rush current draw as noted by the power strip's overcurrent LED, 2) the bluetooth reception is poor (I've tried to give the antennas plenty of room and do direct line-of-sight, but it will still disconnect during a song), 3) eARC works well with my LG C9 TV, 4) the menu system is nice as long as you use it through a connected TV, 5) the speaker setup system is nice, and 6) AirPlay support is a nice feature (and works better compared to bluetooth).

This system sounds great and works well with all my speakers and it has build in WiFi with an app. Great deal at Best Buy.

Great receiver. All the inputs you will need. The phone app gives you great control without the remote. I have this hooked up to vintage Bose 601 speakers with a Pioneer center channel with a Fluance RT82 turntable and the sound is clear and clean. The TV and HTPC are also connected and run seamlessly. This is an excellent addition to any AV system. As with any device you will have to learn to the way to get the most from it but it is worth it.

used this to power a church setup and it has been great. easily sets up and the power was plenty to be able to hear throughout the entire building. the dual zone setup made for a perfect option to add a mic to this as a secondary input. the app isnt perfect by any means but it is easy enough to use and setup without the app. usually i am a pioneer elite guy for this type of setup but for the money, this was a great unit.

when I upgraded my HDTV to 4K like most audio/video projects - the next shoe dropped which was my surround sound. The Yamaha was the only surround sound with a reasonable price and audio quality to meet the 8 Ohm demand of my Boston Acoustic speakers. With the previous Denon I purchased I thought I had to buy new speakers, but turned out the impedance didn't support the quality of speakers that I had, this Yamaha worked like a charm!

This receiver manages the video input from the satellite, antenna, blue ray and TV WiFi, plus music from my vinyl, while channeling the sound to my surround sound speakers. The YPAO automatic sound adjustment is fabulous, so first sound output was excellent. And I didn’t have to spend a fortune to get this. Way to go, Yamaha!!!

Bought this to replace a Pioneer receiver that had died for my home theatre system. I have it set up for a 5.1.2 speaker setup using all Klipsch speakers. Watched my first movie with Dolby Atmos last night, and the sound was spectacular! This unit is intuitive to use and delivers plenty of power to drive those 8 power-hungry Klipsch speakers. Very, very happy and satisfied.

Love the receiver. The only issue I had was in setting it up. The instructions get you to the tv screen and then drop the ball from there. I had to call Yamaha to finish the setup....not difficult, just incomplete instructions. Plenty of power for me. I have my Bose 901's hooked up without the equalizer because there was nowhere to plug it in, but they still sound good.

I recently bought a Yamaha receiver. I purchased four ceiling speakers and the Geek Squad installed everything. The receiver works well and the speakers sound great. I am glad to have the Geek Squad configure the receiver. I don’t have the expertise to set up the receiver and I would still be installing the speakers if I did the installation myself. Great service and great work.

Replacing an older 7.2 Yamaha receiver to obtain the 4K video throughput. Much less complicated setup using the smart phone based application. Audio setup using the supplied YPAO microphone results were good with the ability to further fine tune your audio preferences speaker by speaker. Love the inclusion of the phono jacks and internal phono preamp. I really enjoy listening to my LP's again!
