Unit is very versatile with varied inputs to take all my input devices including legacy items. Good HDMI output to TV that also acts as programming console. Able to program outputs to different rooms and configurations. Also interfaces to ALEXA SmartHome control, and also has its own wireless speakers for rear and other meaning less wires to run and be intrusive.

I've always used Yamaha and they have never let me down. The only time I buy a new receiver is when new technology is released and I want to upgrade my surround sound. ATMOS is a must have if you love surround sound, and this receiver is absolutely amazing! It's a HUGE improvement compared to my last Yamaha. Go buy it, you will not be disappointed!

Arrived promptly and was well packaged. It was a little difficult to connect up with all my other devices (CD Player, Cassette Tape Player, and Phonograph) and hard wire to my large external speakers. Sound quality was excellent! Also, I really enjoy my subscription to Sirus XM especially channel 69 Escape. Buy one of these receivers and you will like it!

Excellent AV Receiver. Plenty of power and clean dynamic sound. LOTS of user adjustable settling including amongst many frequency adjustable equalization. All the connections you will ever need. Bluetooth audio sounds great and is so convenient with button on remote. Great selection of small nice front panel buttons.

I replaced an RX-V683 with this unit and the only reason was because of the 4K video passthrough due to the new 4K TV. The 685 is also very similar to the 683 so I was right at home setting it up. The wifi, bluetooth and app connectivity is excellent and everything works as advertised. I am very pleased with the 685 and have zero complaints.

I have had other Yamaha, Home Theaters in the past and they all were very good. The 630W 7.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD, is even more awesome. Two zones with excellent sound quality. It has enough power to drive multiple wireless speakers with virtually no significant loss of clarity. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to upgrade from a 5.1 system.

Replaced my Yamaha 7 yr old Yamaha receiver with a failed Dolby DTS chip. Hoping this one doesn’t develop the same issue over the years. Setup was easy and sound quality is great. Multi zone works well and really like the casting function for Spotify which auto detects the receiver on my network across all devices.

I absolutely love this receiver. My house rocks when it's on. It has two ports for subwoofers and am using them. I had an onkyo receiver that was okay but this is totally amazing. Clear highs and strong bass. It was so easy to set up and a lot of HDMI ports that work really well.

The sound quality has been great. I came from an onkyo and the yamaha creates a warmer sound. Their dsp options also have a more enveloping character without sounding too artificial. And the app for Android and ios coupled with spotify connectivity makes using it remotely throughout the house great.

Very robust A/V receiver, plenty of input/outputs of different types, zone 2 works well. The streaming audio connections work with minimal setup. Running with a Klipsch reference theater 5.1 setup and it sounds amazing. I'm sure it could run better but these fit the bill perfect for my home theater.

I am really enjoying the receiver, and it performs well. Best Buy offered the purchase with a free four month subscription to apple music, but that was a ruse. No instructions or support offered to redeem that offer. So Yamaha great, but Best Buy not so good on their execution.
