I have used this to replace my older model and as I was more so expecting no change to sound I was actually amazed what difference there was! I also like the new Yamaha app... simple and everything works great!

Got this receiver to augment my new OLED Tv. What surprised me the most with this unit is how much better the sound was than my older Denon unit. The surround modes(which I haven't used much in the past) are superior to any I've found on any of the many receivers and pre/pros I own from the past. It has plenty of power to drive my system and sounds exceptionally clean. Previously didn't think a mid-priced unit could sound this good. My only complaint, and one I've read from many others is with the manual, which isn't included as a hard copy. It's really only available on-line and this isn't particularly convenient. The menus aren't easily navigated without the manual. Still, once set up, it's an excellent value and a purchase I don't regret.

Been using this receiver for a month now. Honestly for the price it surpassed every expectation. It replaced a Marantz ten year old receiver. The Marantz once calibrated was excellent. The Yamaha with minimal adjustment outperformed my previous setup. The settings menu is excellent. Hook up with each product was easy and basically automatic.Just the normal tweaks for personal needs and taste. The overall sound performance was superb. The home theater decoding and sound impact is top level. Was very impressed with music sound in stereo listening. Could right an essay on it's many merits. Sum up with highly recommended in it's price range.

Bought on sale ($100 off), which made it a good buy. So far I’m very pleased with the capabilities and performance. Automatic sound adjustment with the microphone worked pretty well, only needed to tweak a couple of things for my personal preferences. Like most products these days, the user guide lacks sufficient detail in some areas but is mostly useful. Like other A/V receivers these days this unit is really a computer married to an audio-visual device, and boy does it have the menus and options to show for it! Luckily you probably won’t need to use most of them, but if you’re doing things like multi-zoning and smart TV audio return (ARC) via HDMI, some of the setup menu can be a but daunting and/or opaque. Overall, though, I’m glad I made the purchase and am enjoying auto detection of multi-channel audio and one-button power on/off of multiple devices via HDMI Control.

Great upgrade for my older Yamaha receiver. It has tons of options for current and future expansions. I will agree with other reviewers, the remote is awkward and weight is not distributed evenly.

Very nice receiver for an average home theater setup . Remote is a bit delicate . I drop it from waist high ( I'm 5'6" ) and it broke internally . Had to order a replacement from an online seller of remotes .
