could not get the updates for the firmware
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I struggled with this receiver I could not get the receiver to connect to my router an then I attempted to hard wire this receiver to obtain the firmware updates to this receiver. I got a good price on this receiver at Best Buy. But in the end I had to return the receiver to the store since I could not get the receiver to connect to the internet which was my first intention for the purchase of this 5.1 channel receiver to start with . I am sorry things did not go well in purchasing this receiver.

Lack of compiling compatibility
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lack of compiling compatibilityis a problem for this unit. I hoped up a Blu-ray player and it hardly works. In other instances it fails to work at all.

Sweet receiver!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought myself the Yamaha RX-A550 for Christmas to upgrade from the Yamaha HTR-4065, also a nice unit but, the Aventage RX-A550 is definitely a better sounding better looking quality model. I'm glad I did. It has all the features you need setting up the WiFi took about 5 mins. You definitely need to read the manual to know all the features it has.the RX-A550 is hooked up to a Harman/kardon speaker system it sounds excellent!!

Great for home theater
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent device for home theater. Decent for music. Compared to Onkyo receivers, these have a bit of a softer sound. Technology wise, Yamaha is pretty serious.

Unfortunate HDMI output DOA
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great, simple and well designed but HDMI output did not work upon arrival. So I will enjoy the radio until I return the unit to the store hopefully to swap out for a working one. Not sure why getting HDMI to work is so difficult - every receiver that I have had to replace is always for HDMI reasons. Could be great, will try again.
