I recently had the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A2A 7.2-Channel AV Receiver installed, and I’m really impressed! The Geek Squad technician did a fantastic job with the installation, ensuring everything was set up perfectly in my home theater.
The build quality of the receiver feels solid and premium, and the sleek black finish looks great with my setup. As for sound quality, it’s outstanding. With 100 watts per channel, it delivers clear, powerful audio that truly enhances my movie and music experience. The surround sound is immersive, making me feel like I’m right in the action.
I love the 8K HDMI support, which is perfect for future-proofing my system for high-resolution content. The setup was made even easier by the technician, who handled the automatic calibration feature, optimizing the sound for my room.
The MusicCast feature is a nice touch, allowing me to stream music effortlessly from various sources. Overall, the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A2A is a fantastic choice if you want quality, power, and modern features in your AV receiver. I highly recommend it, especially with professional installation—it made the whole process so much smoother!

Upgraded to the RX-A2A from a twelve year old Denon AVR-1609 and the 5.1 surround sound quality is 100% better. Followed the set-up instructions and it was a breeze. Can’t beat the price for amazing sound and video quality for under $1000. Very happy with purchasing the Yamaha receiver!!!!

Got this as an Excellent Open Box quality item. Saved ~$100 and has the same factory warranty. Works great and sounds perfect. Wasn't missing any accessories.
Spent a lot of time looking between Yamaha and Denons. A bonus to the Yamaha over the Denons is the ability to use Zone2 for another room or outdoor speakers. I use it as 7.1 + Zone2 in my shop/shipping area with a Crown 1502 running my subs with no issues. Zone2 can be used to power a set of outdoor speakers or another reciever if wanted. YPAO works well too. Plenty of power and I love the MAX volume setting. I have it set to -10db myself to prevent someone overdriving speakers accidentally. Dead quiet with no hiss or hums at all. The bluetooth connects automatically when you enable it and the remote can even control the media and skip, pause etc so if your streaming from a phone you don't have to keep unlocking it.
Little tip. If you use a pro amp with it, make sure its plugged into the same strip as your reciever and TV to prevent any ground loop hum. If you do get any humming then unplug the HDMI and see if it goes away. Most likely coming from the connection to the cable box/TV. It should be dead silent. Most of the time the cable companies don't ground the coax cables right.

Easy to set up with YPAO; high quality sound using with Klipsch speakers. 7.1. Super immersive especially with ATMOS native sound. Pure direct for all you audiophiles. It is a Yamaha so it does have some quirks but overall i would buy it again

Very impressed with Yamaha sound, I followed the online manual and had no issues. Great for watching 4k movies, airplay and music. I have this hooked to a 5.2.1 system by bowers and Wilkins and an 10 inch sub, amazing sound blown away. E Arc is support convenient and these are coming with the 4k/120 signal.

This complex feature-laden easily future expandable Yamaha AVR was purchased due to prior experience with an older basic Yamaha receiver that I am using elsewhere . This product is more complicated and and less user-friendly for me...the user guide itself is 380 + pages . So that being said and although it is basically plug and play, unless you are quite tech-savvy it is a bit of a challenge that I am enjoying immensely as I learn how to utilize more and more features.Movies sound amazing as well as music that is streamed or played through digital sources.

Great receiver for the normal or average household. Has all the bells and whistles you could want. Once again for the normal household. If you looking to build a theater with 13 speakers 6 subs or whatever then you want something way more expensive. But work great for me. Have 1 in my living room and another in my mini theater room.

My much beloved Aventage 2000 finally began making popping noises to my speakers. Rather than invest in repairing it, I decided to take an early step in 4K processing. My TV is still 1080p (Panasonic 65ZT) so I did not upgrade cables. No manual or disk. Had quick setup paper and Yamaha Setup App for connections. I do not MusicCast. Ran YPAO. I have AT&TTV, AppleTV and OPPO Blu-Ray player connected. There is no iPod docket. Not happy. *sign*
The annoying thing about the A2A is switching inputs. If I am watching AppleTV and switch to something else the A2A will switch back to previous input. This happens with ATTTV also. Would upgrading to 4K cables solve this? Also remote was confusing as hell. Had to go online to determine what buttons do what. Still sound quality is ok as I am using a 7.1 setup. I will keep the unit until Yamaha releases either the A4A or A6A which is what I really want.

Upgraded my RX-V867 with RX-A2A. I have to appreciate BestBuy’s customer service team for their help in getting my order placed with split payment. I received my receiver three days earlier than estimated time. Thanks again BBY. Setup is pretty easy. Within 30 minutes watching MI-6 movie. One important point to mention when connecting Apple TV to the receiver make sure in settings change the Audio and Video out settings. In my case i selected the Dolby Vision and in my Sony Changed the HDMI format to the same. If not you won’t get the display signal. Quality of the Audio and Video are exceptional. My 9 speaker setup producing amazing sound which i didn’t get it throuh my RX-V867. Previous AV also very good but this one is great. I love it so far. I am not sure why this one is reviewed at 4.3, in my opionion this one deserves 5 stars.

The reciever is awesome. Has good output and when connected to the tv the tv remote automatically operates the volume for the reciever with no configuration of a remote. The sound quality from my speakers sounds clearer and more full because of the output from the reciever
Good unit. Skip the manual and hit setup on remote

The receiver has eARC and several HDMI inputs, as well as a digital coaxial and a few analog RCA audio inputs and a phono input. HDMI control is nice because if you turn on your TV, it will turn on the receiver, and also turning on an HDMI connected device will switch to that input. The room and speakers have more influence on the sound, but for what it’s worth, this sounds good and has enough channels for Dolby Atmos/5.1 setups. The only things that frustrate me about this unit are the manual (which was pretty useless), the apps (which do not work the way they are advertised in a video I saw), and the fact that it sometimes takes a while to connect to my TCL TV, though that may not be Yamaha’s fault.

Sound quality and technical capabilities are excellent! The unit provides a seemingly endless array of configuration options including the capability to create a whole-house sound system using Musiccast. With three receivers linked and wired speakers in each room and the option of powering two sets of speakers from each receiver, I have better sound quality than with any other wireless speaker system including the option of streaming uncompressed audio files. Audio processing does an excellent job in correcting the sound of compressed music files. With these technical capabilities comes a steep learning curve. However, basic set-up with a TV and speakers is fairly straightforward using the AV Setup app. The integration of music streaming options works great for Spotify (the Spotify app is fully integrated with the Yamaha Musiccast app) but is a bit cumbersome for the other audio streaming services that are provided. That is because the Musiccast app provides only limited search options and track information. I use the Qobuz app, for instance, to find tracks, then then Musiccast app to play them (the Spotify app, in contrast, can do both). I hope that this will be improved over time. In addition, it would be desirable if Yamaha were to update the list of streaming services for receivers that are older than three years. That is a short time for keeping such an expensive unit up-to-date for its streaming capabilities. Five years would be more appropriate. I also don't understand why the Musiccast app does not control all the settings of the receiver. While the Musiccast app controls some basic settings you still need the TV screen and receiver remote for some set-up controls. That is confusing and does not make sense. For this, and the limited streaming app integration besides Spotify, I remove one star.
Display button on remote does not display anythin.

This receiver sounds really good and construction quality seems excellent. I personally feel the price should be $699 instead of $799. Maybe it will go on sale later this year.
I do have a couple of items which concern me. After calibration, when playing movies, we noticed the center channel dialogue was low and needed to be boosted about 8 db.
Second, when I pressed the display button on my old Yamaha TSR-3850 remote (same remote), the TV screen would show several screens with information about sound parameters, video, network, system etc. On the new TX-A2A the display button doesn’t do anything. Did Yamaha disabled this feature?
I did go by my local Magnolia store and the salesman I spoke had no knowledge about Yamaha receivers, kept googling for information on the receiver and could not answer any questions. Sad he didn’t ask to see if any of his peers were familiar with Yamaha receivers.
One last item, as others have stated, there are so many features, yet there is no information on screen about what the various features do (Sony menus show a brief description of what each option does). I fond the online manual lacked information and is poorly designed. This makes the receiver difficult to use for those without advanced technical knowledge.

I have researched several av receivers, including Yamaha RX-A2A and higher, Onkyo TX-NR6100, Sony STR-AZ1000ES/AZ3000eS, Marantz Cinema 60. Ideally, I'd choose Sony because I have a brand new Sony Bravia oled TV. In the end, I selected Yamaha RX-A2A model because it support 7.1+1Zone or 5.1.2+1Zone configurations with the same type of audio output terminals without resorting to HDMI zone2 output. The initial setup for the default main zone is straightforward and works well: with streaming and TV HDMI arc inputs. MusicCast was also easy to set up with the main default zone. I just finished setting up zone2 for the receiver and MusicCast App - it took me some time to read the manuals. I love the yamaha receiver because it fits my speakers layout and produces great audio. Note: I'm also using a power conditioner for my receiver.

Great sound and relatively easy hook-up. Annoying pdf user manual. Bought for price for up-to-date tech and reputation for reliability. Time will tell after I figure out how to use the eARC.
Also, the center knob looks good but pushes the display to the right and is hard to read from any distance. It should be larger and under the knob. Decent remote, haven't tried the mic for sound since I won't be setting up HT until we finish the basement.

LET ME TELL YOU!!!! I had the Denon 3700h 9.2 receiver and I wasn’t satisfied so I switched back to YAMAHA. THE DIFFERENCE is that the denon sounded super compressed and made my expensive floor standing speakers and dual subs sound muddy. After realizing the Denon was just a marketing box for IMAX and others I switched to yamahas A2A. Man was I blown away!!!!!!!!! The audio sounds clear, close to the Marantz. Vocals of BANE in Batman rising were articulate and clear and each sound in the movie mix was clear without being muffled. Dual sb2000 pro subs came to life with room shaking vigor. It felt like I stepped from Cassette tapes to CD quality audio is the best way to describe it. I am so satisfied with this product and I’m a harsh critic. Make sure you set your crossover in audio config to 80hz and set your speakers to small so you can control the crossover. Amazing product.
