    Frustrated

The reason for the poor review is because 5 days after my 15 day return period expired, the subwoofer pre-outs quit working. Getting it serviced by a Yamaha Service Center may take months due to a parts shortage caused by the Covid virus. Very frustrating to spend $800 and not be able to enjoy it.

Do not buy!! This Model of Yamaha Receiver, it has an inherited issue with Video & Sound. I've had 3 different Units of the RX-A2A, and have had Video & Sound Issues, when just using it 4K 30/60 FPS output Devices.

I love the Yamaha brand so much that I gave this model 3 chances and the HDMI board went out on all 3 after one week. 3 strikes you're out. Very disappointed

    Zone 2 Stopped Working

Bought the RX-A2A in April 2021. After 7 months, Zone 2 broke a week ago. I tried the speakers for Zone 2 on the SP1 and SP2. In Zone 2, they crackle on both. The speakers work fine in surround mode. I think the internal amp might be broken. Asking them to replace asap. I will update the review if replaced.

Very disappointed with this system they told me it would be awesome compared to my Bose system there is very little difference. Spending almost three thousand dollars you would think there would be a big difference a big waste of money not at all happy.

Salesman said it would work with my amplifier but it didn’t have the connections that I needed. I called your tech department and nobody could help me so I ended up returning it. Frustrating!

Overpriced trash major downgrade from my old Yamah

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Trash and much worse than the old AVR it replaced in many ways. I only upgraded my AVR because of the new HDMI 2.1 Standard and this AVR does not even support the full 2.1 HDMI resolution for new devices and does not pass through the full bandwidth. The on screen interface is a MAJOR downgrade from my last Yamaha AVR. My old one has an on screen GUI and actually had graphics, this one what looks like a DOS CMD prompt on a PC. I mean seriously what am I paying for here? This looks like something that is not even in an alpha state. It looks it was designed by a 12 yo in their mom's basement in about 5 minutes There is nothing but text and no GUI at all. Lole some manically depressed sperglord designed it or something. The app is even worse. I was under the impression that I would be able to use the Yamaha AVR controller app with this receiver but it is not possible. The old app just prompted me to download the new one and if you open the old app it just forwards you through to the new piece of crap app. The new app is an absolute abomination and visual cancer just like the new on screen menu system is. Much of the functionality from the old app has been stripped out and any useful settings and controls have been buried 5 layers deep. You have to change tabs and go into a setting and then a sub setting and another sub setting just to access DSP controls which were right on the main screen in the old app. The minimalist garbage in the new app and joke of an on screen menu Yamaha is trying to foist upon their "customers" (marks) is made even worse by the front panel controls of which there are virtually none, more minimalist design garbage. And the build quality of this AVR is trash too. My old lower model was at least made of metal but this thing is made of cheap plastic that flexes and feels like it will crack with little effort. The whole top is make from cheap flimsy plastic and not metal like my old one. The unit has scratches on the front panel right out of the box and there was not even any plastic peel on it. The main volume knob also feels like cheap plastic too. The screen is about as tiny and dim as it could possibly be and barely be read from two inches away with a magnifying glass is a 100% pitch dark room. Forget about trying to red this thing I the day or nigh unless you get right up to it. The display on my old Yamaha AVR was not great either but this is about 1000 worse and I paid 3 times as much for this "upgraded" model. The AVR also doesn't come with a physical instruction manual as my old one did. This thing is so much more cumbersome and difficult to use because of all the minimalist crap they DEIcided to go with. The AVR also is more picky with HDMI and will not even pass any video signal at even their recommended limit of 15 Feet, My old AVR works fine with my 15 foot HDMI but soon as I "upgrade" I can lt get ANY video to pass Though it now. The remote is slightly better than my last Yamaha AVr but only slightly and it has no backlight which I would expect at this price point and for their Aventage line which is allegedly the top class. Yamaha has really taken a huge nose dive in everysingle aspect including their diminished support. Poor software and poor build quality combined with horrible app and you get an absolutely miserable customer experience. I was really happy with my old AVR and only "upgraded" to get the higher fame rates of HDMI 2.1 but have found out that it was not at all worth the aggravation. I will be returning this and I will not be considering any more Yamaha products in the future. They went from the best to the absolute worst in just few shots years, what a shame. I will now look at Denon and Sony or Onkyo or I will just put my old AVR back and buy a high quality HDMI switcher and use ARC because this thing is just such a huge piece of garbage, 0/10. The screen on this AVR is garbage and a major downgrade

Fantastic Upgrade to my old Yamaha receiver. Great brand, solid performance, the open box condition was definitely used though. Marks and scratches on the unit with dents on the remote. Functions perfect though.
