I bought this Yamaha RX-A2A “open box” to replace an ONKYO that I thought was malfunctioning. It turns out that the ONKYO wasn’t malfunctioning and it’s back in service. HOWEVER, another receiver in the house did permanently stop functioning properly. Therefore, this YAMAHA receiver replaced that one. The old receiver had no digital, HDMI, or Bluetooth onboard. This one has all of that which makes playing audio and video much easier.

The audio quality is fabulous, and I love the features, including the internet radio feature, which eliminates reception issues. The only issue I ever had was when I was remodeling, it shut down. It might have been my fault as I had wiring in the walls that I was changing, and may have mis-connected. Unfortunately it didn't tell me what was wrong. I contacted Yamaha customer service and they had it checked out, found nothing wrong and re-enabled it free of charge. Luckily I didn't have to pay shipping.

I needed to update my 10 year old Yamaha A/V reciver, to take advantage of 4K+ pass through. I figured I may as well be prepared for another 10 years so I chose the A2A over the V6A for 8K handling. The sound quality is very clear and it has lots of power. I now have HDMI inputs to spare, and I'll be looking into hieght visualization speakers soon, so I can take advantage of Dolby Atmos. Music Cast is new to me and I love it! PS5 looks great, no video degradation or lag. I am a big Yamaha fan. I've owned, many motorcycles, instruments and cars (SHO). They just know how to build a great product.

Unit is very high quality but has so many features that it can be complicated. Only reason for 4 stars instead of five is that you have to find the manual online. If you have a question, customer support takes hours if you can wait that long. Once you figure out the features, it works great.
Yamaha - solid value - solid choice in AV receiver

So far so good! Great sound. Easy to set-up since this is probably out fifth Yamaha receiver. The firmware was easy to download. Really like the Auto program setting for TV listening. Remote is large but very functional. Improvement to set-up menu and functions appreciated. Got this as Open Box Excellent so saved over $200. The new USB’s and ARC all working well. ARC worked well when inserting a Blueray. Overall very pleased. Sound and depth of sound much better than 9 year old Yamaha I replaced. Still need to go through a lot more things in the manual.

Purchased this to replace the Onkyo TX-NR 6100 that I returned due to an overheating issue. Very good sound once it's adjusted to your listening preference. The MusicCast is very user friendly compared to HEOS on the Denon that I purchased five years ago. Sound and picture adjustments can be tricky if your not tech savvy. I would recommend the RX-V series if that's the case. Would recommend the four year Geek Squad extended warranty.

This is a great receiver. I hope it eventually gets a software update for the HDMI 2.1 features like VVR, and 4k 120hz. I purchased this over the Denon 2700h, because I heard it had better dynamics for music. While I did not compare, I couldn’t be happier with it. Sounds great for music, ATMOS, 5.1, etc... All around a great product.

This is an Awesome Home theater receiver. Easy to setup and get connected. Tons of features and Sound fields, but most of all the Dolby Atmos makes music and movies sound incredible. The Yamaha app will allow you to control the amp features form your mobile phone. This unit is a notch above and well worth it.

Bought this to replace a Denon 2112ci that had one channel go out. I decided to buy based on reviews and the warranty which is 3 years plus an additional 2 years through a Yamaha special offer on its website. Spent an inordinate amount of time setting it up in my home theater due to the very poor 350+ page on line manual. Easy to use once set up. OWhen I first connected my cable box to the hdmi 2 input some tv channels were scrambled. Switching to another hdmi input resolved that issue. Some options in the Scene set up menu have no explanation. The remote is well designed except not backlit. IMO the sound is not as warm as what came out of my Denon but I'm already getting used to it. After the ypao set up I felt like significant surround sound speaker adjustments were necessary. It has lots of power.

Probably should give 4.5 stars. Except for a sorry install manual that has you searching several hundred pages and multiple places to solve or correctly program one function it would be a true 5 stars. Plenty of power for a mid level all Klipsch ATMOS setup. Use the auto set up microphone to get speaker distance and crossover calibration and fine tune to your preferences. The dialog lift settings put the voice dead center of the TV.

Great sound and great looks. Easy to navigate. Yamaha app is excellent for using different zones and inside/outside music. I've been life long Yamaha and couldn't be happier
Worked flawlessly - Amazing sound and easy install

My 10-year Pioneer receiver had issues where it would power off intermittently, and needed replacement. After significant research and guidance from an audiophile friend, got this Yamaha receiver from Best Buy. Came within a few days as opposed to the original schedule of a week (nice surprise!), Out of the box, disconnected the old connections (made sure to label them before disconnecting!), reconnected and it auto-recognized the devices. Got the musiccast App installed, and took a few minutes (and YouTube) to figure out the Connect-and-Hold-for-5-seconds before it got connected, which was then a breeze. Connected the mic for Auto-sensing the 5.1 speaker system. And I was done!! Amazing sound, use my cell-phone to control the receiver, update the software, install new apps, etc.. Highly recommended.

Easy to set up using the app. Sound is phenomenal. Some hdccp handshake issues. Could be with directv or roku box. Not sure yet. Had an older rx-700 ran like a sewing machine. Once these issues get resolved I'm sure I'll enjoy it for many years to come.

Eight months later and we're still enjoying this Yamaha.
It's a little irksome in a couple cases, but that's just me comparing it to some of the functions of my old JVC and the fact that the old unit put out more bass.
However the functions and sound out of this Yamaha are great, the remote is quite useful and the app mostly provides everything you want...unless you like to listen to the radio - the app doesn't easily allow you to cycle between favorite stations. I'd also like to be able to more easily adjust the graphic equalizer from the app.
Still, it provides great sound and connections for a good number of inputs.

I’ve had three Yamaha avrs but decided to try a denon which was very easy to set up but I did not like the sound so much it was kind of muffled. So returned that and went back to Yamaha much better sound and un like the denon I could run my 7-1 system and hook up my outdoor speakers in the zone two . Sounds great!!

Awesome receiver. Sounds amazing, Automatically finds input just by turning on that signal. Speaker set up was spot on using the included microphone. My favorite feature is the 2nd zone which can be controlled separately and can mirror the main zone. I can even shut off the main zone using the mute button and play music in the 2nd zone. Finally someone did the 2nd zone right.
Bluetooth and Wi-fi work great too. Looks nice. Really great receiver especially considering the price. Wish it came with a printed manual but the on-line one is very easy to use and better environmentally.

Discovered AFTER setup choice is 7.1 OR 5.1.2. Height channels cannot be used with 7.1 surround without upgrading to RX-A4A.
That said, receiver sounds good and is reasonably easy to setup and tweak to persaonal liking.
