I been looking at this Yamaha receiver for a while. Finally got it. This is my 7 Yamaha receiver so yes im a fan of Yamaha. The sound is always good.the price is worth it. Lots of feathers. Lots to fo. The power is perfect. At first its a bit complicated to use when you first start bit as technology gets better we must move forward and lean the new things. But overall its easy . Lots of fun .

I bought this to replace my Yamaha receiver I had been using since 2010. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but after a decade of technology advances, I really wanted a receiver that could handle 4K signals at the sound performance levels I had been enjoying. Seemed the obvious choice to stick with Yamaha and once again I went with the flagship series. The immediate notice of improvement in sound quality was astounding! Yamaha has seriously stepped things up in an era where I feel “entry level” home theatre systems has not been as large a priority. I’ve had it over a year now and I am beyond happy with the purchase. As far as Yamaha quality, my old receiver is still working perfectly and all of my original purchase NS series Yamaha speakers are still being used for my home theatre. Over a decade later they still pump out crisp and clear sound with no distortion and somehow sound even better with this new receiver.
Stick with Yamaha - that gorgeous warm, flat sound

After buying the Onkyo TX-RZ50, the Denon AVR-X4700H, and then the Arcam AVR21, all returned, we bought the Yamaha RX-A6A - the best purchase ever!
The Onkyo was too thin sounding & the power plug fit loosely on the unit. The Denon had zero musicality and was also thin sounding. The Arcam was very forward vocally - too much so, but was built like a tank - I would reconsider the Aracm if our room was much bigger as it handled movies very well.
We opined on "why we just couldn't upgrade our existing Yamaha RX-V3900 with Dolby Atmos, etc. and sound just as good?" Once we purchased the Yamaha A6A our wish came true! The A6A sounded just like our original Yamaha but with much more accuracy and that warm, amazing sound! What a fantastic upgrade!
Be sure to set it up correctly - it takes time!
Don't hesitate to buy this gem!

Sounds great, a little complicated to set up. You can't adjust all the speaker/surround settings for the tv connection in real time without an additional monitor or at least I have not been able to figure out how to. I am assuming you need to hook up an additional monitor. I havent tried but the settings displays on the tv so you need to change the tv input to allow the settings from the unit to appear. Maybe it is a tv issue. It is not as powerful as I had thought it would be. Still hit 109 db in the house. Plenty loud enough.

The Yamaha Aventage RX-A6A is one of the best av receivers you can currently buy on the market. It has all the latest video and audio formats you can think of. Movies sound great and music sounds live, like you are actually at the performance. It also will have a firmware update which will bring all the hdmi features. This receiver is great for next gen gaming for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

I tested this receiver with Bowers and wilkins 600 series.
I compared tested it with two other Denon receivers
It is absolutely amazing.
Quality, clarity of sound were awesome. Their hardware materials (ex remote) is very high quality as well. Loved their music app and all its control.
I have always used Denon or Onkyo before. This is definitely a great upgrade.
Looking forward to keep using for a long time
Thanks to Yamaha for this product.

Does it all. Sound is fantastic. Configured as 7.1 now. Even have a Laser Disk-AC3 demodulator and VCR connected. Would love to have a hard copy manual.

After the release of the next-generation gaming systems, I decided to upgrade my tv and receiver to ensure I could check all the boxes for things HDR10, Dolby Vision, etc.
Coming from a Yamaha Aventage receiver, I knew of the quality but OMG, I did not know Yamaha was going to release this type of monster. The first thing I notice was the immediate difference in the sound quality. I mean basic setup and it’s absolutely mind blowing. Even my wife noticed a major difference.
It’s plenty I could get into regarding what all this receiver does but believe me when I say it is worth every penny. It is a bit pricey but well worth it.
On a side note, I had an issue with the receiver defaulting to Xbox series X every time I turned it on. I tried everything imaginable to figure out this issue with no luck. I even called bestbuy for help and they didn’t have a clue. Well I end up unplugging the receiver killing all power and waiting about 10 seconds and that fixed the issue.

Absolutely fantastic sound and features. This replaced my 12 year old Yamaha HTR 6090 and the difference is incredible. It easily handles my B&W and SVS speaker array along with the SVS Subwoofer and the sound is amazing.

I have buying yamaha receivera for years. This new model is an excellent receiver with lots of hdmi inputs but still has legacy connections for old gaming units. Sound quality is excellent and the speaker setup is easy.

This is very good AV received, but It should be better if you spent
$2400 for it. The display is too small. The music is more digital sound compare to my Yamaha TSR-7810. Move is great.
Great mid-range receiver if you like missing parts

I wanted to try something new so I tried Yamaha. Ordinarily, I go with Denon. The 150W per channel and other features got me ready to try something new. Since purchased, this receiver has been nothing but a headache considering the money spent on this receiver.
Out of the box the Mic and few other accessories were missing. Without the Mic I couldn't do any sound corrections for my room.
So I went to Best-Buy Geek Squad but they said they couldn't order the mic for me and to call the Manufacturer. Yamaha customer service hours are on PST so it makes it extra inconvenient when trying to call in the morning EST.
I finally get someone after 11 EST only for them to tell me the parts department isn't open yet. My message would be forwarded to parts department for missing parts. At that point communication is back to e-mail. 2 days later I received a reply stating the replacement would arrive in 7-10 days and no tracking number was provided. I asked for one and never got a response from MFG.
In closing, why did this matter mean so much?
- $1500+ Receiver with no calibration Mic
- Without proper calibration I'm running the volume up and down constantly on the receiver. It's either too loud or not loud enough without calibration.
- Best Buy said they couldn't order the Mic
- Best Buy offered to do calibration 1/2 price of $120 EST. I know Best Buy didn't make the product but in this case, they should have come out to calibrate free of charge.
- I'm sure this is a great receiver if all the parts are included since this one cost $1500+
- Since Best Buy nor Yamaha provided ideal solution, I'm going back to Denon Receivers.
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IN THE BOX IS THERE. I ONLY ASSUMED SINCE IT WAS NEW EVERYTHING WAS PRESENT BUT IT WAS NOT. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TROUBLE AND CHECK BEFORE WIRING YOUR SYSTEM.

The receiver is well built and impressive when you look at it on paper. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. The video upscaling had a lot of contrast and more of a cool picture tone - I prefer warm picture tones. For instance while watching baseball or football the facial features were distorted due to the color washing them out. The sound is 100% dependent on the DSP. The receiever falls short of audio quality especially in Pure Direct mode. The sound lost all the low frequency bass and boosted the midrange tones. All the punchy bass was driven by the eq and DSP. There are a lot of sound settings you can tweak and modify via the multi eq. If you like a lot of ways to modify the sound with the eq you will like this AVR. But if you like to keep the sound parameters more on the flat side / pure direct mode this AVR will sound like a $700 unit. Unfortunately these shortfalls aren’t limited to the A6a the A8a has the same issues. I kept that A8a connected for about 10 minutes before that got re-packaged for return. I ended up buying the Marantz SR 8015. The Marantz 8015 AVR was fantastic right out of the box. The video upscaling was warm, clear, and well balanced. The sound was fantastic immediately right out of the box. All I had to do was power it on and it defaulted right to Pure Direct mode. The sound was well balanced with no loss of sound quality. The Yamaha’s both failed where the Marantz excelled.

This receiver sounds great when it decides to play. This is the 3rd one I have purchased, returned the other 2 because I thought they were defective. Come to find out this receiver doesn't play well with my nvidia shield pro. It kept losing connectivity to various streaming apps and would switch from external to tv speakers continuously. I hooked up a Roku ultra and it runs smooth with no problems. It is just this new model with this issue too, I had the earlier model Yamaha RX-A3080, a Denon, and Marantz receiver and they all had no issues working with the Nvidia shield. Go figure.

Great features and sound from a trusted manufacture. This unit has a solid build and easily provides enough power for my SVS Ultra towers and surround system. No manual is a con for me but it is available on line.

I bought the RX-A6A to replace a 6-year old Yamaha Aventage and what an upgrade. The set up was easy if you are upgrading from another Yamaha receiver. The sound and picture are so much better and so worth the upgrade if your budget can allow. I'm still tweaking and getting everything how I want it, but I'm impressed with the technology and the customization. I'm a huge Yamaha fan and love the Yamaha sound. If you are on the fence with this receiver, don't hesitate!

Easy to setup and sounds great! Worth the money. Need powered HDMI if you are using 40 foot cable like I am. If not you will not be able to use it in mode 1.
