It's worked well for me. I don't have a complicated home theater speaker setup, so I haven't pushed its limits. But in the time I've owned it, it's done everything I've asked of it. The test will be the longevity of the unit. I want this one to last.

This is the second large priced product I’ve purchased in the last six months, Best Buy is one of the best electronic sellers of our time. I feel that you are committed to pleasing your customers in every way.

Bought A6A this unit was defective and Best Buy did not help me at all, had geek squad service 2 times with no help other than spinnning blame and wanting to sell extended service. Yamaha was slow to respond but eventually did. Best but did nothing to help and I will never buy another unit from them as they are all ears pre purchase and no ears following delivery.

Great receiver- but if your into technology you’ll be fused bt r the system setup like the old school units. Took some time but I figured out how this unit works.
You need a in-house geek squad technology to understand how to setup this power house system. I did finally figure it out with the online 450 page manual. Once I figured it out the sound is great. The zone setup is another thing. Once I figured that out it was down hill from there - I can set up the zones for movies and the games fr our crowd of a family.
If you want a challenge then this unit is for you. If not then let the geek squad come out for the $200 charge to setup up and they’ll do the job for you !! Enjoy if you pick up this unit up. Oh there is an online GUI interface also to run the system, so have fun!!

Awesome! People who say it’s not probably don’t know how to set up a AVR. It is a beast. It’s expensive but like Grand Pappy used to say,
You get what you pay for.

After doing your [Optimizing the speaker settings automatically YPAO (on step 8 A)] and after it completes it's cycle, the receiver totally shuts itself off and [it does NOT go to step B - Measurment results]? I am NOT using the [Extra SP 1 F. Presence Zone2/Zone 3] or the [Extra SP 2 F. Presence Zone2/Zone 3/BiAmp] and these should not show up on YPAO speaker layout but they do? I do not get any ERROR messages in doing this. All my wiring is correct as when I use my Sony AV Receiver, it works perfectly.

Whenever a Dolby Digital stream starts over an HDMI or optical connection with the TV, there is no sound for the first 15-20 seconds. Tried all sorts of settings to no avail. With the same TV connection to an old receiver, this initial sound gap is only a fraction of a second.
The YPAO room calibration produces questionable parametric EQ adjustments.
This model is quite power-hungry when idle and its big transformer emits an audible hum.
The front panel and top cover are made of easily scratched glossy black plastic instead of metal.
Despite this model having been available for about 10 months, Yamaha has still not provided a firmware update for HDMI 2.1.
There is a 400+ page user guide downloadable from the Yamaha website, but there is no indication in the box that it exists and should be referred to.
All this is unacceptable for a product at that price. Had to return it.
