Great mid-range receiver if you like missing parts

I wanted to try something new so I tried Yamaha. Ordinarily, I go with Denon. The 150W per channel and other features got me ready to try something new. Since purchased, this receiver has been nothing but a headache considering the money spent on this receiver.
Out of the box the Mic and few other accessories were missing. Without the Mic I couldn't do any sound corrections for my room.
So I went to Best-Buy Geek Squad but they said they couldn't order the mic for me and to call the Manufacturer. Yamaha customer service hours are on PST so it makes it extra inconvenient when trying to call in the morning EST.
I finally get someone after 11 EST only for them to tell me the parts department isn't open yet. My message would be forwarded to parts department for missing parts. At that point communication is back to e-mail. 2 days later I received a reply stating the replacement would arrive in 7-10 days and no tracking number was provided. I asked for one and never got a response from MFG.
In closing, why did this matter mean so much?
- $1500+ Receiver with no calibration Mic
- Without proper calibration I'm running the volume up and down constantly on the receiver. It's either too loud or not loud enough without calibration.
- Best Buy said they couldn't order the Mic
- Best Buy offered to do calibration 1/2 price of $120 EST. I know Best Buy didn't make the product but in this case, they should have come out to calibrate free of charge.
- I'm sure this is a great receiver if all the parts are included since this one cost $1500+
- Since Best Buy nor Yamaha provided ideal solution, I'm going back to Denon Receivers.
MAKE SURE YOU CHECK TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IN THE BOX IS THERE. I ONLY ASSUMED SINCE IT WAS NEW EVERYTHING WAS PRESENT BUT IT WAS NOT. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TROUBLE AND CHECK BEFORE WIRING YOUR SYSTEM.

I bought the RX-A6A to replace a 6-year old Yamaha Aventage and what an upgrade. The set up was easy if you are upgrading from another Yamaha receiver. The sound and picture are so much better and so worth the upgrade if your budget can allow. I'm still tweaking and getting everything how I want it, but I'm impressed with the technology and the customization. I'm a huge Yamaha fan and love the Yamaha sound. If you are on the fence with this receiver, don't hesitate!

Easy to setup and sounds great! Worth the money. Need powered HDMI if you are using 40 foot cable like I am. If not you will not be able to use it in mode 1.

I was going to buy the A8A, but didn't want to spend the extra $1k. This unit will process 11 channels, but only powers 9. I simply needed to add a two channel amplifier to power the rear Atmos speakers. I purchased an AudioSource AD1002, for a little more than $100, which had a similar output. I have mostly Klipsch speakers, including two Klipsch R120-SW subs. The resulting sound is stunning.

This receiver is pretty awesome. love the look of it and how powerful it is. My favorite feature is that tho its marketed as 9.2 channels you can have an 11.2 system by added an exteral amp. I love how it easy it is to navigate in the menus. gave it 4 stars bcuz the gaming features still dont work on it yet. 4k 120hz and VRR coming with feature update.

The amp itself is great. I had to return my original when video out from either HDMI1and2 out stopped being sent.
The amp is balsy, having plenty of power! The Dolby Atmos is amazing.
The only real downside is there is no IOS or Android App to control it, you are relegated to the remote.

The receiver truly offers an immersive audio experience that elevates movie watching to a whole new level. It's like being in the middle of the action itself. The clarity and depth of sound it produces are phenomenal.

Fantastic receiver, it is amazing. I am still exploring all of the features it has and am awestruck at what it can do. It supports numerous devices and the range of settings it can be tweaked to are incredible. I don’t believe you can go wrong purchasing this receiver.

First unit had a defective center channel. Replacement unit works great. Wife doesn’t have an ear for audio and immediately noticed the surround difference from our older denon. If she is impressed, this box is pretty amazing

Great product, as expected. I am an audiophile. Really happy with Auro-3D, and other sound decoder effects.
Love the multicast feature as you don't need to keep the TV on if you are listening to music from streaming service or airplay.

Can't really give it four stars since there are still some things YAMAHA needs to add to make it complete (most of you know what updates are coming!),but for the most part, it's a well built receiver that does an excellent job at replacing my late lamented YAMAHA 2000 that recently died.

Love the availability in the settings. Offers a crisper sound than my pioneer elite did with addition setting when it comes to the hertz levels. Made a substantial difference in my theatre.

Yamaha did not deliver

I love Yamaha but this receiver did not deliver on the 8k or 4k120 claims promised and advertised. Yamaha has advised that there is an updated board for units that were manufactured without right part but this is a major inconvenience. The sound quality is spectacular but not enough to salvage this unit. The control are absurdly complicated, for instance, you cannot directly access specific inputs as with previous generation Yamaha receivers. Instead, you would need to scroll through several inputs to find the right one. Lastly the LCD screen on the front from my perspective is too small. This depends on your sitting distance but I imagine the majority of customers who buy such a powerful unit do not sit right in front of it so they can read this screen. I am not sure the value of such a large volume knob in the middle of the unit. In my view, increasing the size of the screen has a practical use case for the operator.

Was lucky enough to get this early on and its the best Receiver I have owned. Internet Radio is pretty cool too. Should last several years and plenty of power. Getting Atmos soon to take full advantage.
